Okay I not sure why you all keep saying that its a 60% slow that is incorrect it was bumped up to 75% slow. The shaman class has the best slow out of all classes where as a chanters haste is better then ours.......

Why do you say that this is a 60% slow when the spell clearly states it is a 75% slow? Did I miss something?

The spell used to be a 60% disease slow. It has been changed to be a 75% mr slow with a -40 check to magic.

don't know bout everyone else but this spell replaced my turgurs. if it takes your group more than 1:30 to kill a monster in an xp group, then you must be desperate for xp. i have malos and turgurs up, just in case i need the 75%, but like i said this is replaced my turgurs. i only now use turgurs for raiding, and seldomly when there r adds ill turgur due to the downtime on nihli.

This is NOT disease-based. All SHM slows apply disease counters so they can removed with a disease cure as opposed to annulling all of your buffs just to remove a slow. This spell differs from turgurs (51 SHM slow) in the fact that it casts faster, slows less, is shorter duration, but has a -40mr modifier. Due to the downsides it is only situationally useful. Unfortunately, SOE believes a lvl 51 spell should be the defining spell for shaman with no real upgrades after that :(

Ok, this spell isn't so bad now that SOE bumped it up from 60% to 75% but the recast time is still horrible for being the so-called "class defining spell."

Look at Turgur's spell stats sometime. It actually has the same recast time as Balance, 6 seconds. That 6 seconds includes the normal 2.5 that the spell bar always goes through to repop. The cast time diff is 1.5 seconds (3 secs for Turgur's, 1.5 secs for Balance). In the end, this means you have a 1.5 second faster output on your slows, or about 120% faster mob slowing than Turgur's can do.

I'll admit that the 3 second cast for Turgur's was nice in that it was possible to spell haste it... but only at max haste (50%) could you have reached the 1.5. I don't believe it's possible for shammies to hit max spell haste for anything except buffs. The 1.5 cast time is awesome since it will allow you to get the slow off on most mobs between the pummelings if you time it right.

I'll agree that the recast time is long, but if it's all around equal to or better than Turgur's (except for the duration) I'm damn happy with it. LOL

This spell is useful for fast cast, low resist slowing. It prevents you from having to use Malos first - and for short-lived MOBs, that's great since you get the slow on earlier and you spend less mana doing it.

Yes the MOBs are only 60% slowed instead of 75% (Turgurs) but your mana expenditure is less, and the MOB is slowed quicker - so maybe the difference is negligible (more time unslowed + greater slow percentage + more mana expended = less time unslowed + lower slow percentage + less mana expended??).

I just recently got this spell - have yet to test it out... but I suspect that situationally it will be a very useful thing.
