DPS is Damage Per Second. That means add up all damage for a fight then divide it by time taken to kill in seconds.
DMG / TIME (Sec) = DPS

Easy strat for MQ success:
1. Main Toon- Turn in Immortals book to Tomekeeper Danl in Erudin library. He returns Danl's Reference to you.
2. Main Toon- Turn in Danl's Reference to Lheao in Timorous Deep.
=============
3. Monk- Turn in Robe of he Whistling Fists to Lheao- gives monk the "Celestial Fists" book.
4. Monk- Turn in "Celestial Fists" book to crazy Kaiaren + FD.
5. Monk- Turn in "Celestial Fists" to real Kaiaren (near lake) to obtain Book of Celestial Fists.
=============
6. Main toon- Do the Lavastorm-PoSky-Nurga-LoIo fights on Main toon (turn-ins + fights only, no need to cycle items thru NPCs).
7. Main toon- Turn in Demon fang to either Kaiaren.
=============
8. Monk- Turn in Book of Celestial Fists. - Finito! Your monk receives epic 1.0!
Not sure why this is listed as lvl-capped, long as someone goes to PoSky at 46+ and can handle the kills, this is prolly MQ-able to a lv 1. Still cant use the clicky till lv 50 though, unfortunately. Nice twink item for hands slot, plus neat title and particle effect :)
*edit- Must have acquired Robe of Whistling Fists + book "Immortals" to use this method. Also noted- no "cycling" of turn in items needed. Whole thing completed in ~5 days (on/off playtime :P)

PLANE OF SKY
In the Plane of Sky, the Gwan fight takes place after you give the scale to "A Presence". While on The Noble Dojorn's Island (1.5) I noticed that the noble himself was aggroing if we stood in certain locations on the island. I had read many times that the island was safe and all creatures were non-Agro, for the most part they were. But the Noble kept going from indifferent one second, to Kos the next, Back to Indifferent. Perhaps this was a bug I do not know.
Amway’s right when you get teleported onto the Noble Island there is a blue mark on the windmill directly behind you. This spot is safe to have you back completely against without getting agro. I found that where "A Presence" is located, have your back to the windmill at this spot and the Noble would agro.
KAIAREN (Trakanons Teeth)
I had a hell of a fun time finding the mad version of Kaiaren near the entrance to old sebilies. They may have moved him back a little then some of the other locs posted. I found him at...
(-1533 , -3431)
The True Version of Kaiaren who spawns after the book is cycled threw the mad, was near the lake in middle of zone in a building at loc.
(300 , 2400)
Just my 2 copper. Good Hunting
pawduster = around 8 hrs
iksar betrayer = 2 hours

total = around 25 hours total camp time
Final fight was done with a 62 cleric 66 druid 65 monk and me 61 monk no prob.
now for the 1.5
Just wanted to say thanks to guild <Illuminata> for all the help with this! thanks guys!

Good luck Everone on this quest
The picture needs to be updated. Epic clicky effect has a required level of 50! I shoulda kept the robe awhile longer.
Raster I spent another 100 hours or so for about 6 hours a night on weekday and about 14 hours a day on Sat / Sun. Interestingly enough it never spawned when I had my already Epic'd 67 Monk waiting on him. about 6 spawns after I brought my then 44 monk down there, it spawned (and i got a bag of sewn evil eye from the giant eyeball not far away.) Perhaps raster pops quicker if you're a lower level and dont appear to be farming, or maybe it just happened that way.. heh (Spawn 4AM, despawn 7AM, Spawn 8AM*Kill*, spawn 7PM*kill : Eq Day = 72 minutes, 3 minutes per EQ hour...you can do the math and figure out to the minute when raster/Ph'r will spawn, typically 30 minutes between spawns so go do something else and come when the timer dings!)
Targin wasn't too bad, about 12 hours total. Basically left the beastlord sitting at the king camp and watched a couple movies everything attacks him and pet kills - looked over and a humanoid corpse was laying there - looted the book and took off. (This didn't work in Guk because i'm not KoS, and wouldn't want to kill the 4AM Ph'r anyhow)
It took awhile for Brother Qwuinn and Brother Zephyl to spawn - Qwuinn was in southern part of the zone, below Splitpaw, when I did Lambi's he was as far north as you can go. Bring a tracker!
I did my fights before turning in the robe to Kairain so I could keep the clicky robe as long as possible. Then went and did all 3 Kairain parts at once to get epic.
Lheao Basically told me to go away and kill tadpolls, didn't do the speech however he took the robe and the page and gave me what I came for.
Eejag, Gwan, & Trunt were solo'd with 70 BST. Final fights in LOIO were done with BST, My monk needing epic and a 66 necro who asked to help when I asked for DMF to spawn the event. Couldn't slow any of the 3, Pet easily offtanked. Final mob has a 10 second stun which could be bad if you have low HP and runs at 20%.
FYI: At level 46 you can get Experience grouped with a level 70. I almost got a whole level fighting to the sleeping ogre.

Would like to know how to put the epic and Flying kick into one hotbutton i dont really get the ones that have been posted so i kinda need a simple one that is easy for ANYONE to understand if anyone could do it example: doability(sp?)1 with pause etc.
Enchanter of Nordlys Crusaders
Ascendant Benadebx Alcedonia'Amoris
75th Ascendant of Nordlys Crusaders
The way to link the two is to set up each as its own hotkey - kick for one, the robe (or epic) on another. Once they are both set up, enter your keyboard layout under the option bar and set up the same alternate key (I use tilde (~) since I prefer F8 for targetting) for both hotkeys. When you hit that alternate key, both hotkeys should be activated. The biggest problem with this is if you change hotkey banks, hitting that alternate key will activate the two hotkey positions you have it assigned to in the other bank as well. You can set up your robe/kick in all of your banks in the same slots to avoid the problem, or be sure to be in your combat hotkey bank when you hit the alternate key. If you reassign primary keys (you could activate two keys by assigning them both to the number 2, for example), you can't individually trigger either without using the mouse. I left default alone, and changed the alternate instead (adding a new key instead of changing an old one).
I've had issues setting it up as hotkey 1 and hotkey 2, but any other combination seems to work fine. I have FD on hotkey 1, kick on 2, and the robe on 3. Tilde is an alternate key for 2 and 3, and triggers both when pressed.
Your hotkeys are numbered under the default UI, in case you need to know the specific numbers.
I hope this helps.
Back when I was a newb, someone told me about the easy way to raise your Sense Heading skill (yes, back when you actually had to work on it) by setting one of your motion keys to trigger the first hotkey, where your Sense Heading was. Well, after playing that character for a bit, I switched over to my SK, and yes, you guessed it... stepped up to the banker I'd been camped near, and Harm Touched him. Needless to say, he didn't enjoy it that much, and I got to go for a nice jog in the cool morning breeze.
Cannibalism: the solution to overpopulation and world hunger.
so are you saying the eyepatch stacks with the epic? are you 100% sure? all i know is that i have eyepatch on my beastlord and it counts as shammy type haste, so it still stacks with enchanter haste.
i'm not too sure on all of this, but if it does stack with eyepatch, time to camp stormfeather :P

Haste on Eyepatch will not stack it's haste with this item. Best self hast a monk can have (non disc) is 41% from item and 40% from this effect = 81%.

It's better to remain silent and be thought a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.
/pause 3,/doability 7 (flying kick)
/doabiltiy 5 (disarm)
and so on ... what would be the command in a hotkey for invoking a right-click on an item like the epic gloves?
Ex. Flying kick is set to 4, you put Celestial Fists in 3. Set the button that you press to activate hotkey three to have an alternate button of 4. Now when you press 4 it will activate flying kick and activate the Celestial Fists. It's good to set it to flying kick because then you won't be spamming your spell window.
Good luck.

What I want to know is can he equip non-weapon items in his primary and secondary slots (i.e. hand held items, shields, etc.) and still use the epic gloves as hand to hand weapons?
If not, that kinda sucks. It means a monk is basically losing two inventory slots on his char if he uses these. So he loses the benefit of the stats he could get from items/weapons in his primary and secondary slots.
If you put your fists in your hands slot then your hands will turn to 9/16 dmg/dly. So i think the question you should ask yourself is can you use your fists while wielding a non-damage weapon? Off course not. I agree it does suck to have to leave slots open for it to work, nowdays the 16/9 isn't that impressive though so just wield 2 weapons and enjoy the nice epic hand slot item.
Just a question, Housemusic why do you answer a post when you have no clue of what he is talking about?
52 Disciple of Fear
That's exactly how they work.
That's exactly where HouseMusic is wrong.
Well since it's not clear enough here comes:
Celestial Fists alters your bare hand dmg/dly.
I might be wrong but your bare fists are 14/30 at level 53. If you put the celestial fists in your hand slot, your bare hand damage will not be 14/30 anymore. They will be 9/16. This is not due to any haste effect of any kind.
Check this webpage, it's all there:

That stinks, but you make a good point, by the time I am high enough to get the epic, I'll probably have weapons with a better ratio.
And here we go, get the headband, and sash, was easy, so easy, i sold my purple headband 2 times for 5k, each time(i love money), camp targin, was not hard iden, raster, lol, 36 hours, no sleep, i get him, and then...i sold idol, for 24k, to a desesperate monk, so, what i did, i shout at pok, i was ready to pay 8k, to a group, to help me kill brother quinn, and, ban, loot at the first kill; pipes, was bad, too, karnor's was hours, to make pawbuster pop, chardok, lol, i try 2 times, no one like to go there, so i pay 5 k, for chardok pipe, the rest was so easy...all kill's only took me a full group, sure, the last one i have a warrior65, and a necro 65, druid 60, so, i was cool, hehe...
Dont blame me for sell, and buy so many times, i did, wherever it take to do my epic, i am a monk 54, first character, so i think i didnt do too bad...i had a good help from people, that i never saw before, thanks god...lol.Good luck to all!

For those unfamiliar, something that has a "Haste" effect is something that makes you faster, something that gives you a greater speed in one way or another. As far as EverQuest goes, Haste more accurately effects how fast you attack. The speed in which you attack is represented by your weapons "Delay" attribute (Del). Delay is measured in tenths of seconds. For instance, a weapon with a Delay of 20 would attack every two seconds. Likewise, a weapon with a Delay of 44 would attack every 4.4 seconds. Going by that system is not 100% accurate because there are many decimal values that are not taken into consideration (ie a Delay of 44 might actually be 44.013). Excluding these decimal values alters your results slightly, but usually only by a maximum of one or two tenths. It is a good system to use, but like I said, not 100% accurate.
A common misconception is that a Haste effect directly alters the Delay of your weapons, when in fact it doesn't. Haste is measured in Damage Increase, NOT Delay Decrease. An item or spell that adds a 40% Haste effect does NOT lower your weapons Delay by 40%, but rather increases the amount of Damage you do by 40% over a period of time. Another point of notice is that Item Haste and Spell Haste combine. For instance if you had a Spell cast on you that adds 20% Haste and an Item equipped that adds 17% Haste your total Haste would be 37%. This does not work in all cases because many Items and Spells have rescritctions where they will not stack with eachother.
Although Haste deals with Damage Increase and not Delay Decrease, you CAN calculate what your weapon Delay would be during the time period you are Hastened. In determining your weapon Delay with a given Haste percentage there are three steps. To illustrate these steps we will pretend that you are using a Fighting Baton (8 Dmg/20 Delay) with a Flowing Black Silk Sash equipped (21% Haste). The first step is to add 100 to the Haste percentage. In this case the result would be 121 (100 + 21 = 121). The second step is to divide that number (121) into 100. The result would be roughly .83 (100 / 121 = .83). The third and final step is to multiply the previous results (.83) by your weapon Delay (20). The result is 16.5 (20 * .83 = 16.5). We have now determined that a Fighting Batons 8/20 with 21% Haste become 8/17 (16.5) during the period of time that you are Hastened.
Here are a few examples of this method of determining haste effects.
[Delay 30 with 40% Haste]
Step One - Add 100 to the Haste Percentage.
100 + 40 = 140
Step Two - Divide the previous result (140) into 100.
100 / 140 = .71
Step Three - Multiply the previous result (.71) by the weapon Delay.
71 * 30 = 21.3
Finished - A Delay of 30 with a 40% Haste becomes a Delay of 21.3.
[Delay 15 with 85% Haste]
Step One - Add 100 to the Haste Percentage.
100 + 85 = 185
Step Two - Divide the previous result (185) into 100.
100 / 185 = .54
.54 * 15 = 8.1
Finished - A Delay of 15 with an 85% Haste becomes a Delay of 8.1.
[Delay 44 with 20% Haste]
Step One - Add 100 to the Haste Percentage.
100 + 20 = 120
Step Two - Divide the previous result (120) into 100.
100 / 120 = .83
Step Three - Multiply the previous result (.83) by the weapon Delay.
.83 * 44 = 36.5
Finished - A Delay of 44 with a 20% Haste becomes a Delay of 36.5.
As you can see, determining the effects of Haste on your weapons Delay using this method is really quite simple. Below are a few important things to bare in mind when considering Haste and Delay.
[Important Facts]
- Delay is measured in tenths of seconds.
- Item Haste and Spell Haste combine (generally).
- Haste is measured in Damage Increase, not Delay Decrease.
- The formula for determining Delay with Haste is: Delay * (100 / (100 + Haste%))

41% haste makes you swing 41% more in any given time period. So yes, you do more damage, but it doesn't add damage. Just makes you swing more often.
And haste does lower your delay, though not by 41%, but rather 41/141. Meaning your delay is reduced by ~29.08 percent. (Same as saying 100/141 = .71... .71 * delay = new delay)
Not flaming or arguing, just a case of some semantics.
Edit: One other cause for haste calculation errors is the cap on minimum delay. I believe no weapon can reach lower than 12 delay due to haste, etc. Not 100% sure if that's the right number, and yes there was a 10 delay weapon dropped for a brief period, though I think it was removed from game. So usually having a 14-16 delay weapon and being hasted out the wazoo won't make a huge difference to your delay.

21% = .21
add one (stick a one in front) = 1.21
20/1.21 = 16.5
30/1.4 = 21.4
etc.
Also makes it easier to plug into a calculator. Enter the delay, hit divided by, enter one, then the decimal, then the haste %. Then hit equals.
x= new dly
1.4*dam/dly=1*dam/x
1.4/dly=1/x
x=dly/1.4
so new dly = dly/((100+haste)/100)
This is the same as the above post just mathematicly correct. The dam isnt the dmg it says on the weapon its the actual damage you do.
