I tried crafting this and it came out as Beer-Battered Sauce! DB may have changed it!

I checked the recipe and it's correct, also there seems to be nothing named "Beer-Battered Sauce" in game. Maybe you made a [link=/db/item.html?item=26958]Beer-Based Batter[/link] which has the same recipe except with an additional Cup of Flour ?

this cannot be brewed in a portable or collasable brew barrel, as it takes 5 items and the portable and collosable ones are only 4 slot.

1-54 - the tradeskill quest in abysmal sea.
54-122 - Fetid essence, made from a fishing grub and a water flask, so a trial is just over a silver and you can sell the stacks back for 7cx20.

Why couldn't this 5-item-sub-combine for a simple low-stat line of food give 8 or 10 items?! Why do I have to spend the same amount of time at the brew barrel doing super-trivial combines as I have to spend at the stove doing the combines I'm going to skill up on? Is it just another way of slowing down skill progression? If so, it's damn annoying :-(
That said the GoD stat foods are a good way to skill up essentially for free (actually, at a profit). Fishing is the key. My tactic is to sell all of the crab that I get and then use the tuna for skillups. After about 100 skill in fishing, that's impractical and you have to start selling some of the tuna too... it's just too much fish to bake :)
I went in this order:
Baking 0-16: Combine 2-15lb. Tuna into 1lb. Tuna
Baking 16-39: Combine 1lb. Tuna into Tuna Meat (TM)
Brewing 0-20: Malted milk
Brewing 20-54: Lemonade
Brewing 54-90: Beer Braising Sauce (BBS)
Brewing 90-120 (not needed): Erudian Dressing
Baking 39-46: Combine Tuna into Dried Tuna
Baking 46-82: Combine TM+BBS = BBT Meat (BBTM)
Baking 82-120: Combine BBTM+Loaf of Bread = BBT Sandwich
Baking 120-172: Combine BBTM+Jug of Sauces+Spices=BBT Steak
I've gotten up to 165 this way, and once I'm 170, I'll switch to BBT Rolls by using Bat Wings instead of Sauces+Spices and that will take me to 202.
Still, it's a major pain to do those brewing combines, when they don't get me anything. I'd even be happy with a combine that gave me the exact same thing, but cost more and had a high trivial. At least both baking and brewing would be going up then.

Oh, and you don't have to brew the sub-combines for this. In Abysmal Sea, the middle brewing vendor sells both short beer and red wine. The other three items are all on the baking merchants.
