The Cestus Mold Conundrum

Something worth noting on this. When you purchase Cestus Molds from Esunta in the Abysmal Sea, there are TWO cestus molds on sale: one, a 6gp item DOES NOT work for the recipe. The other, identified in the trader's menu in an identical fashion, except for the price, which is around 6pp, DOES WORK.

This one held me up for a couple of days until I saw a post about it in EQ Trader's Forums. Just a word to the wise.

Can't say I didn't warn you. This was copied from a post over on EQTraders:

As of today's patch, the live version of this weapon now has a ratio of 10/22, instead of 5/11.
Delay Cap

Now I understand everyone likes the really low delay weapons cuz you get to spam yourself more, YAY... but from what I remember from playing a melee years ago, there was a general consensus that there is a minimum swing speed... IE, you can only swing each of your weapons once a second at most (not accounting for double attack, flurry, etc) no matter how hasted you are

is that no longer the case? because if it is the case, it makes this weapon really weak, being 5/10 at the absolute best...

An EQ developer who posts to the EQTraders boards, has already indicated that the ratio on these are not as intended, and will soon be nerfed. Be aware of this, before spending a lot on one.

See the 4th post down in this thread:

He says he IMAGINES it will be nerfed. Havn't you seen the 70dmg 35 delay 2hs with incredible stats from discord? they are stepping up the weapons. This item will stick around just the way it is I IMAGINE.

NO, he says :

Quote:
The values aren't anything excessively awesome (by todays standards), however, they are incorrect. Those items are intended to be on par with their 1hs/1hb cousins.

They'll be changed to something a bit more appropriate in the next update.

See that I said read the 4th post down. MADDOC is an EQ developer. HE said IT WILL BE CHANGED!!!!!

So, EQ DEV knowledge > your IMAGINATION

If I could get my hands on 2 of these I'd make a monk. one thing though, even with max haste I believe the fastest it can make a weapon is delay 6. That would still be a 5/6 weapon, ratio 1.2. Not bad at all.
proc rate
# Feb 16 2004 at 12:43 PM Rating: Excellent
procs are constant. ie it doesnt matter what the delay of a weapon is, it will proc just the same regardless.
#REDACTED, Posted: Feb 16 2004 at 3:22 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Where on earth did you come up with that? Delay has EVERYTHING to do with proc rate. Each swing of a weapon gives a chance to proc. If you want to test it go find some 100 delay weapon and put a proc on it, the only time you can proc is when you swing.
RE: proc rate

At 305 dexterity and no Weapon Affinity AAs, ALL weapons (with a very few exceptions) will proc twice a minute while in main hand. This has been parsed and proven over and over again by people on Monkleybusiness, Thesteelwarrior, and Thesafehouse
RE: proc rate

So you uneducated morons are gonna rate down my post because you'd rather just assume you're right rather than do a little research? Try looking it up:

Monklybusiness
Thesteelwarrior
Thesafehouse

All are either .net, .org, or .com. And ALL have a thread where someone parsed out proc rates.

Seriously... you try and shed some light on a subject and get called a prick for it...

actually, Genious, visit the monk boards sometime and ask the posters there about it. proc rate is calculated as Procs over Time.

you will always proc the same amount off of a weapon over a set amount of time. wether you are slowed or hasted.

if you proc 3 times in one minute with weapon A, then get slowed or hasted, you will STILL proc 3 times in one minute with that weapon.

each weapon in exsistance has its own proc rate, which is independant of its delay.

god damn... a new mosscovered twig.... 2 of them augmented with a dd proc... damn damage output =)
RE: woot
# Feb 16 2004 at 11:43 AM Rating: Decent
If I calculated correctly... monks could potentially hit once every third of a second with these approximately (warsong +100% spell and worn + speed focus disc), with hitting just under every half second without disc. That's 3 hits a second, with a chance to double or triple hit. The second slowest weapon I've seen (epic at 9/16) can only reach just over every half second.

With a nice proc aug on it, this could quite potentially be on par with many high end items. Dual wielding these could potentially splat a monk in seconds against an enraged mob, heh (take up to 18 ripostes in one second with 3 triple hits, 3 double hits, and wu's 5AA hitting 3 times). Trying to calc dps, this would be pretty high up there with high attack. This calcs out to be better than a 14/20 weapon (in primary) worse in offhand. A 15/20 weapon would be better, not counting procs. I would use these for positioning and against melee immune mobs with proc augs only. You can get some major push going with low delay weapons.

Can anyone confirm these stats? Will try to forge one tonight.
