I can understand why some people would find these appealing, but I personally believe that ALL your stats are important. I've played every class in the game and I can definitely say that yes, your int caster does need stamina. Your warrior also needs int/wis. Don't believe me? See how much time you waste when you go to do the tradeskill potions of your Coldain ring quests with an int of 55. If charisma doesn't matter how come you always see people running around with steins? The moral of the story: Don't take negative stats on anything, especially stamina and resists! LMAO the only stat more important than stamina and resists is raw hps. That applies for any class. Come on, you can do better =)

When tradeskilling you would obviosly take these off. Anyone charming needs charisma so these would not work for them but I don't think they would pay the money for the +str/dex as they would no doubt be casters and this would be of little importance for them (yes I have played casters and melee class's). These would be very nice for a non-tanking support class in a group...see monk/rouge where if played right save unexpected adds they won't be taking melee attacks just dealing the damage. My monk wore these until I quit player her. The stam loss is neglegable in the right/good group and unless your twinking a lowbe you should be in a good group by the time you use these. Also most players learn to addapt rather quickly to the loss of certain stats that they determon less valuable in exchange for the stats they value more.

#Montanya, Posted: Apr 13 2003 at 9:17 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I have a 36 Warrior. Of course I dual wield with fast weapons like a Lammy and a Defiance when grouping so I keep the agro, along with SCHW's and any haste a group member might put on me I do a pretty fair job of it. BUT I also have a Wurmmy and Sarnak Parrying Blade for support dmg.

Funny thing is they are not bad during the times when you are not facing ae mobs as a caster or a ranger or a warrior. Less than 100 hps does not bother, too many warriors when not facing non aoe mobs. and for say a ranger who is not in the aoe area if he has a long range bow it is possible maybe not probable, cause I have never been able to get out of range as a caster. Any ways point is dex = hits and crits or double damage on a bow for a ranger =dps for grp or raid str also adds to this in raising attk rating so you need to consider that when saying that these are bad gauntlets. Sure they have negs but unless you are all the way uber you'd use these if you were not way dressed out till ya get better in the no drop type. I think that is reason enough to wear them till ya get better

I bought these gloves at the Bazaar for 500 pp just now. Being a Beastlord, the AC is pretty darn good for a leather wearing class and a big upgrade to my Gem inlaid Gauntlets. Being a Troll BL my base Dex is not too high either, so I was very happy with the + Dex. The +15 Str is extremely nice, and I am now at 191 Str self buffed. Higher Str = more max damage and as a BL I melee all the time, don't pet cleric all that much. At level 47, the -7 Sta takes away exactly 19 hp from my base total of 1400 hp (unbuffed). Sta is still way above 100(self buffed its +150) so no worries there. Also being a soloing Beastlord most of the time, chainfighting blue cons, the minus resists do not bother me at all. Having the bashing pet and a load of HP, the occasional blue Grimling Geomancer I run into during my xp grind is no threat to me at all: let the spells land, I dont care. If I cared I'd buff myself with my resist spells. :D Off course for raids with my Guilds, I deck myself out in completely other gear anyway, including gloves. So I was very happy to see those for only 500pp! I see them mostly for between 1500 and 6k. The above mentioned 15.000 is ridiculous though.

good or bad?

I'm a rogue and I buy my equipment solely based on offensive stats... but still, the negatives on these kept me from buying a pair for quite a while... Until recently when I bought my haze panther gloves... I thought about buying them again...

They probably have the best buyable offensive stats of any gloves for a rogue. Personally, I could care less about AC, but the AC isn't bad, I don't care much about the stamina as the only time it really comes in handy for me is when I'm hopping to try and outrun a mob lol... Negative charisma? Who cares... but the negative resists are important to me. However, after thinking about this for a long time... I came to the decision that resist gear is for raids anyway, and I will just think of these gloves as non-resist gear.

I will use them in normal fighting when all I have to worry about is 1 or two different spells for which I can have the cleric cast a resist spell on me, and on raids I'll just switch em out for my haze and boom, +5 to all hehe.

I am a 60 Rogue and i have no qualms wearing these full time, until resists are a major factor. I got the Flayed Paebala Gloves form DN to swap out for resists if need, so these gloves are a dandy to me. So flame on, bash on do whatever, and keep your gloves, ill keep mine :)

These are TERRIBLE gauntlets. NOBODY in their right mind would pay 15,000 for these. Hell, even as a rogue these suck. Why? Because STR does not effect backstabs as much as a high damage piercer does. With 15,000pp, you could buy a ******* 15 damage piercer probably. -5 saves is nothing really terrible, but the stamina hit is really bad. Regen > HP > STA > AC > AGI.

Sorry I wouldnt pay 100pp for these. there are just to many negative stats. I'd much rather have something that will increase my resists not lower them. And as far as a monk item weight makes them nice but -7 to stamina hurts just to much to make these worthwhile. I would actually have to say if I was on this raid when they dropped I would pass and not even roll.
Good for a caster perhaps?

I notice alot of caster only items have dex... is this because dex improves channeling or reduces fizzling or something?
If so might these not be good for a caster type? AC 14 would seem to be good for them and a bit of Str would certainly help them carry loot, also considering that they arent supposed to get aggro what does it matter that there is a resist/hp drop? (other that AoE's on raids ofcourse)
Just seems a little silly that whenever a caster sees an item with FT on they instantly say, ooo! ooo! Caster item! when its clearly better for a hybrid, and the same goes for this piece in reverse.. just cause it has str doesnt mean its gunna be good for melee's I wouldnt use them and im way off being L60 / strong enough to loot this item or even afford to buy it (there are better things i could spend a few kpp on)

Good for a caster perhaps?

Well , I have a 40 th Monk , Bilykack - Mith marr.
Well , i was shopping and saw these , no stats. So i asked , his tell showed NO negs , I thought WOW these are great ! ( and Low weight to boot ..) i needed that ,, so i went to BUY with 4 K and my Reinforced Acrylia gloves as part trade. SAW the NEGS , and said .. WHOA .. BUT , like previous postings , I thought , well , i'm not into that fighting high level caster thing yet , so these would be SWEET , Great AC (16 on MITH marr now , not 14) ,, str , and dex , ( i have proccing Katar -Zekha's ) SO IMHO , Yes Great till epic , and IF worried about raids , swap out with other gear when OTW , earrings-check, face-check , neck-check , GLOVES > BTW at 40th the 7 stam loss tranlates to >> 18 points , BIG whoop , i got 400 HP in gear on me , I'll take that hit for what i'm getting ,,, SO I got mine , an I felt they worth it as nice gear , Have yet to fight dragons but would have to agree with the sentiment of these being oddly built considering where and WHO they drop off.. BUt if you you don't like'em , QUIT WHINING , sell them- give them away , whatever . << MY 2 coppers worth

Some Mutton head always seems to claim to have found a sucker on their server who bought thier item for 10 times the value, or they heard some shmuk in East Commons selling it for that price. The truth is that these are certinly difficult to get, but not forth more than 10k tops.

Hell - these were given to me by a guildie and the AC is what I need right now, Str and Dex doesn't hurt either.

As for the negative stats -7 Stam = 30Hps,(big whoop) Negative resists? I play on a pvp server and always carry a set of PvP gear around with me, since I am already swapping out my jewelry, helm and range slot - its no biggie to have to swap out gloves too.

Just my 2cp worth - I know there are better gloves out there (especially for someone my level and class) but wtf - I'll use these for the time being

These guants are good for monks pre-epic , which is pretty much pre-50 cause most monks get there epics then , due too how easy the epic is, these guatns are good in my opinion,, they are light, and have alot of str, dex, and AC , which makes them good for soloing monks,, no mob casts all types of resist they only pick 1 usually fire, cold, magic, or others, so you really only loosing 5 to a resist which isn't a big deal cause mosty just high lvl mobs cast AE effects , and you would have your epic at this point, so i think these golves are great for twinking a monk pre-50 , cause really no much casts on ya before that so resist's arn't important. and -7 sta is only like 30 hp before 50, if that... so these are very nice starting monk gloves, and they only sell for like 3 or 4k which is half what GOFM sell for ,

Admittedly these aren't that hot for most classes, and not worth the price. They are however better than any you listed for a monk IMHO. Not great for a monk, but better than what you listed I think. Alright a mid lvl monk, like me currently.

Just finished a raid on Zlandicar tonight, not as my monk of course. Sure hope I can get the 40k that these are listed for right now, but I sure as hell wouldn't pay that...maybe they're worth a few kpp, but 40?

I play a monk. Been playing one since EQ went live.

These gloves are a peice of crap for a ToV drop.

Gaunts of Fiery Might are better. Any of the SoV quest gloves are better; hell, the Silver Chitin Hand Wraps are better.

Gauntlets of Mortality is aptly named. Only 46+ level monks would be caught DEAD in these.

But you may or may not note that these are not no drop. These wouldn't be a bad twink item at all. These are far better gloves than most twink gloves I see laying about. And they would probably fetch a pretty good price from a lvl 35 who had been saving pennies...

Negative Resist Stats in ToV?

These are garbage. You are losing STA (hit points) and resists, which makes them undesirable for anyone - melee in particular - who is actually fighting in the zone where this drops or velious dragons in general. The AC is fairly mediocre for a melee item (monks wouldnt use it if they have their epic obviously, and warriors get better AC gloves than this). So the STR and DEX are the only redeeming factors, but that alone doesn't really make up for the negatives. They are droppable, give them to a twink or lowbie friend or something. I would take a big pass on em.

I could see a monk maybe wanting these, but I assume there are better monk gaunts with similar ac, and no neg resists and sta. At high lvs, ac is only really important to main tank, hp and resists to all other melee classes, cause they aren't intending to be hit, so resists and hp help alot with AOEs...all in all, this is pretty worthless in my opinion.

Flame me if you want but there is no reason to use an item with such heavy negatives when warriors have so many better no drop options. A lvl 60 mob should drop better items then this, maybe the item should have a haste effect or invis.
# Dec 16 2001 at 9:54 PM Rating: Decent
The neg stats don't really meen much , so what if you have 30 less HP's at lvl 50 if your low enough to need them you are dead anyway :) also what high lvl player solos they all have multi Buffs on all the time , Neg resists = Big deal when you are fighting a Mob the mob dosent cast 5 different type of spells ie cold fire poison ect you only need to worrie about 1 stats at a time :)
