Who Wouldn't Want This?

Any of the classes that can use those and for whom it would be an upgrade should be able to bid or roll on this.

45/40 with 40AC, +10 DEX/AGL +75HP... that is exceptional... about the only class listed that would be likely to pass on this is Berserker as their epic is better and if they are doing this mob, they ought to have their epic.

For a Ranger, this is a great 2HS. Most rangers do not invest heavily in 2H slashers as they put their earnings into bows and 1H smacky/pokey/slashies toys. But when a ranger starts racking up the aa's into the hundreds, 2HS is again a very feasible weapon choice. The 40AC is of great benefit to a ranger as it is pretty difficult to get near the ac cap on a chain class. Yes the +15 int is a waste on a ranger, but nothing else about the weapon is.

Shadowknights and Paladins get a vast number of choices of some exception 2HS/2HP weapons with similar stats and ratio to this. Epic Berserks would have zero need for this. Frankly, the greatest benefit from this weapon would be garnered by a ranger or warrior and if it went to a ranger, it would likely be the only 2HS carried by that toon until hitting the higher elemental planes, higher tier GoD zones, or Time.

Most SK's would love this weapon, until they got a better one, which for SK or Pally, isn't that difficult.

So to sum up, if you are part of a raid that can win this nice slasher, and you can and will use it, bid or roll on it. It frankly isn't suited especially to any one of the classes that can use it. Few tradeable multiclass items are really suited solely to just one of the classes listed on them.

I agree to a degree. As a ranger the first thing i went after aa wise after EQ/AM3 was all the 2handed garb the game had to offer. DW sucks *** when something for some reason spins around and goes into thumper mode on your head with ripose, so i wanted to be able to swing a 2hander asap. Alot of ranger's have starting doing that because it just makes sense that way. I play what we have started calling a warger, I tank more than our in house SK, just because i can now. The 40ac is def a great bonus for a ranger, but its also great for everyone else on the class list.

A raiding SK/PAL prob wouldn't give a damn about this sword because Like you said "until they get a better one, and thats not hard". I actaully was givin this sword by a Paladin friend of mine who got the sword on a raid and upgraded a week later, thats the problem with items like these, their great for a very short time when your in a guild built on advancement.

To the unguilded of EQ its items like these that are farmed for, but to the people who spend a night in pon and never go back they might care about something like this for a couple hours and move along.

How many nonguilded Warriors can you name that are picky about their weps? i can't name many, the general thought is, Two Weps = More Agro = Happy Cleric. I don't know many nonguilded warriors who play to be a SA in a pickup group, but IMO thats what this sword is for in a warrior's hands, its not gonna generate the Agro to peel a mob off another warrior with a couple of procing weps, but its gonna do a fair amount of dmg while the fight is going on. I guess it could be made into a MA wep but I wouldnt go that route for the simple fact there are better agro toys out there that are much cheaper and will do a better job.

All in All I think this sword goes to Twinks, and nonguilded/lesser guild toons who dont have the ability to have better gear than the best the baz has to offer. Which means, He who holds the Cash Holds the sword.

Good Post Condottieri it got me typing haha

Since LDoN was released has anyone inspected one to see if it got the usual type 4 slot? Granted, in some ways a proc would be icing on the cake. However, with the right proc, it could make an MA's job a lot easier.

Blackened Greatsword, but I'm an SK.

Course, my Pally friend who is swinging a Windblade says that he wants this too.

This sword is dropped by the Hobgoblin Anguish Lord in PoN. He's a level 75 giant hobgoblin that casts AE knockback, hits for 1400ish and is immune to slow. He also has two guards... Level 68 Mephit and level 65 Bat. The Mephit is pure melee. The bat casts 1500DD AE that seems to be unresistable.

"it has int SK only" it has dex give it to a ranger it has agility and hp give it to a warrrior it has mana give it to a paladin :) sorry i had to make an idiot out of myself
RE: Definite SK item
# Feb 02 2003 at 11:42 PM Rating: Decent
Come on, you can't really expect others who can use it to turn it down just because there's a little int on it.

...can't believe I responded to a "Definite <Your Class Here> Item" post...

Actually, I would (and do) defer WIS-only weapon to a Pali or Ranger every time, and it's most likely that we'd only have the SHD rolling on/awarded this one unless the others were way underequipped and we couldn't fix it by passing down the weapon being replaced, say a Windblade (since that int and mana adds nice DPS to a SHD and not the others).

I suspect that in a guild raid, that's what would typically happen - a shifting of weapons/upgrade to increase the raiding ability rather than ignoring the most effective use of the stats.

awarding a 45/40 sword to an sk over the available classes to use this strictly because it has int on it is retarted. If you are in any type of decent guild you will be working with a raid point system and the person who busts their *** for the guild the most will get the item because they obviously have more points. On top of that i dont think that a guild that does meritting is going to be able to take this mob anyway.

Lets award CT-brain to hybrids... I mean just becuse its FT on it dont mean others can't use it...
#REDACTED, Posted: Apr 28 2003 at 10:59 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) lol, anyone in a guild with DKP should also know that what goes around comes around. This item should be given to SKs before offered to other classes. If a Ranger wasted DKP on this while there are SKs that need he should be /guildremoved lol.
RE: Definite SK item
# Jul 31 2003 at 3:17 AM Rating: Excellent
i'm getting really tired of the way people think in this game.if a ranger was ever removed from his guild for using HIS DKP( you know the one's HE earned) just because some sk cried about it then i would say the ranger is better off not being in such a retarded pre adolecent thinking guild. as for one item being more suited to one class over another maybe but i figure their the points YOU earnewd and YOU should be able to use them anyway YOU want and not have some 2yr. old SK cry cuz he wants the toy to play with ROFL

#REDACTED, Posted: Nov 22 2002 at 4:41 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Its worth it even if you need a simple flag, this is equivilent to high end ssra stuff and that take 40 lvl 60s and hell of a time sink to get to.
What it takes.
# Nov 19 2002 at 1:13 PM Rating: Decent
It drops from a mob that requires around 40 lvl 60+ characters.

Um, no.

It drops at the end of the hedge quest which requires exactly 18 people of lvl 60ish

I think you are confusing it with the black bastardsword. The sk weapon that procs a 200pt hate, and drops off the construct.

Argh, these weapons (windblade for example) should have been made no drop. Just because someone can pay rl cash for thousands of EQ platinum doesnt mean they should have the right to carry around weapons that they could never attain any other way. WTF was verant thinking?
RE: RAR
# Nov 25 2002 at 1:44 AM Rating: Excellent
I have to disagree with this one.

I am not in a guild capable of taking down the sort of mobs this stuff drops from.

But I can farm HG's in rathe mountain, or drops in velks or something, and make up the plat.

And I bet it'll take me a lot longer to make, say, 90k to buy a windblade than it would take someone who's guild is capable of this to get the drop.

And no, I'm not going to go out and join one of the big guilds with scores of 60+ people just to get some better equipment. I am only one of 5 60+'s in my guild. The hurt to my guild if I left would be far greater than the benefit derived by any guild I joined that could take down these sorts of mobs.

I'm forced to side with ye on this one, Arch. Droppable, fantastic 2hdslash with Armor Class +40 ? Good Lord!

Man o man...i hope the rumored " Epic Upgrade " weapon quests make the existing Paladin / SK epics 7 kinds of uber ... else they will go the way of the dinosaur.
