I'm a 53 (almost 54) druid. I commonly group with higher level folk in my guild, because its better xp. I play cleric a lot, but sometimes they have a cleric already. In those times when we have a cleric, I pretty much regen, DS, str or sow as needed, and then break out my Ykeshan war club. It procs a 75dd spell with a stun component. Yeah, the club is 8 24, so it sux, but I dont hit all that well anyways. I like the proc, though. With shammy buffs, I can get it to proc 3 or 4 times a fight. (110 DEX unbuffed) Beat on the mob some, nuke once or twice (they die too fast to waste a DOT on), but I keep my mana up in case I have to heal. Would I rather have an Espri? Yeah. Prolly not gonna happen, though. Would a Primal war club from ST own? hell yes, the proc on that would actually make me able to melee decently. Yeah, I can dream.
Wanna hear something really funy? I was in Velks one day grouped with a few friends and in walk 3 druids. We were thinking....when they call for lfg we will grab one....welll it never happened. Two of them were tanking and the third was healing. We stopped fighting awhile to watch. I had never seen a druid tank before...I was quite impressed. Cheers to the druids.

I was reading some of the earlier posts and that guy that said SKs laugh at this is 100% correct. I'm a 59sk and I wouldn't have wanted this even when I was level 30. SK's need rediculous ratio to do dmg as such all of our weapons are nice ratio some exceeding 1:1 (Soul Defiler comes to mind)
This weapon is obviously not for the Non duel weilding class, Rangers Rogues n Warriors would benifit from this drop.
The ratio is not bad for a Rogue fure sure..
the fact its that a weapon under 25 delay and 13 damage, put into secondaary = good ratio.
Non duel weilding classes get weapons that are 21/24 , and exelent ratios like that :0 balances things out a bit..

Wow, this thing looks awesome, I can't wait tell I get to this level in order to even attempt to get this. Only been playing EQ for about two months. I like reading about all the great stuff you can get when you reach higher levels.

Everyone knows that druids don't get beans for weapons so why doesn't this weapon impress anyone. I think that for a lower level druid or for just a druid that is helping out a friend (i.e. helping lower level guildies camp stuff) this is a great weapon. For all those people out there that say druids don't hit because they are too scared you must have never grouped with me. After the dots and DSs I regularly get up there and take at least 200hp off before its over.

Let it be known, that this guy, Nuldas, is A.) in my guild, and B.) my old roomate. He brings up a valid point.
Druids later on in the game, do NOTHING but SoW, Evac, DoT (if that, cus theres mezzable mobs out there...), Thorn Coat, and really, little more, their nukes are rarely used as i see it while raiding and the sort. (EDIT -- im a moron, they nuke like mad)
ANYHOW whats wrong with a Druid getting bored of his normal task and after doing what hes supposed to, go up and hit a few times? hes not gonna pull agro off the tank, but he CAN do damage. And as i recall, "any little bit helps."
As an enchanter, my 1hb, piercing, and H2H are all maxed out. 2hb is sittin at 1, but oh well, ill work on that later =) WE ALL GET BORED of what were doing all the time, sometimes its nice to have a change of pace.
also, eqomaniac, you are correct, it is easy to lie about ones level, and here, nuldas has =) hes merely level 52. Oh well eh? No harm no foul.

Velketor the Sourcerer (approx. lvl 66) in Velketor's Lab (Named after him) drops this. I must say however that it confuses me that Druids and Beastlords can use this weapon while Bards cannot. This would be a good Bard weapon hehe.

The Beastlord listed by Allakhazam is probably wrong, they just added it because druids can use it. Going to ask tonight, we just got one yesterday, so I can confirm.

Warriors, rangers and rogues...unless they allready has better...druids??? no way!
Paladins and shadowknights would regard this weapon as a laughing matter at higher levels I.E. My 54 SK uses a Sword of Pain, dmg19 dly25 ac10 right click grim aura...and tho the is hardly ever usefull cause i'd rather take rangerbuffs any day of the week, i would never sacrifice that much damage and ac for 15 more sv fire...as it is with my fire resist gear on, im at 168, and add a druids circle of winter to that, there is no way i would regard this as important enough to skip my SoP.

no man. seriously, for the people who would kill velks, this sword is garbage. if it were no drop it would rot for sure. there's so many easily attainable weapons with stats more along the lones of 12/20 and better that no one would want this, generally speaking, if they're capable of owning velks.

But there is a sorta decent weapon 1hs that druids can use called Icepaw War Claw 9,24 +3agi 0.0wt they go for about 1k on any given server...Good Luck =)
To confirm, this guy is wrong...I got this today, and it is exactly as in screenshot, all those classes can use it, including druid.

THis would be awesome for a druid, not saying that warriors and such shouldnt be able to lotto it, but druids should definitely be in on it.

Dude STFU please, dr00ds and shamans alike are very helpful in melee situations, oom they can help kill a mob faster, and if they're just nuking, hell just go up, whack away and nuke at the same time. I've only seen few druids and shamans do this, all being close friends. I'd rather have them in group than some whimp that won't get up and hit something.

Heh, I think the reason you dont know many druids and shammys who run in and melee when theyre oom is cause usually their spells cause a lot more taunt then the MTs aggro does. So as soon as a druid runs in with half the ac and a quarter of the hps as a warrior and allready has aggro its not going to be a pretty sight.

Still this would be nice for finishing out a kite. Like when I kite in Dreadlands and I run out of mana but the mob has turned to run but is held in place by snare... this could help finish it out quickly so I can go med to get back to kiting. BUt it has no other mean than that.

Last time I checked my Crystal Claw of Veeshan was 13/24. And the effect doesn't do much for me. The chanters seem to get bored and just stack their debuffs on the mob so I almost always get resisted or it doesn't stick.

for the love of Gad people enough with yer bickerin'! hate rants are better than jokes, this weapon is an offhander for fighting one of the fire dragons or something of the like, and druids can use it for the same reason. you don't need 15 sav fire if your fighting guardians and orcs. just deal the stupid cards and take it like a man.

How pointless is this weapon for a Druid. At the level you could roll or be awarded this item you would be at least in the high 40's. Only reason for a Druid to even have a weapon at this level is for Stats or maybe to kill those greens (spiders for that silk). Last thing I want to do is agro a lvl 50 mob and have it start quad hitting me for 250. Weapons are for Tanks who have the armor and hp's. I will stick with my role as Aux healer, buffer and evac, a role druids fill well.

I can think of several instances where a druid would want to wield this... say, against Faydedar ? Or Nagafen for the 45-52 set ?
Seriously +15 FR is pretty rare in primary slot (and not so common on any slot). On a raid-type situation where resists are more important than maxing out Wisdom this would be right nice.

I would like to say that this, although it might be too heavy, is a new weapon for druids. Although all of you people that hate druids do so, you should really think that druids dont have much of an advantage in anything. And although this wep might be too heavy for most druids my druid has 91 str when buffed, and he is only lvl 20(self-buffed) So the weight shouldn't be a problem, and also, If you are a druid who wishes to use 1hs instead of 1hb, which is a good choice, since the epic is a 1hs, Druids are always on the lookout for a better 1hs weapon. Everytime they see that druids can use a sword they think WOW! no matter how terrible the weapon is. With this new sword, this should keep the druids alive at least a bit longer against fire casting casters. Also, it allows for the druids, once out of mana and thinks it is appropriate, to make some slashing fun at whatever the group is killing. Additionally, this would help when kiting and you ran out of mana. Even if you got the enemy down to like 100hp, most druids would not be able to bring that baddie down manaless. I would like to say that this weapon is a great addition to the druid arsenal and i would request to learn where to get it.

Unfortunately at your level, you aren't yet aware of the sharp distinction in roles between the classes when this weapon would come into play. At level 20, druids and clerics can still tank and nobody new to the game thinks twice about it. But when your group is depending on you to fulfill certain roles, e.g backup healing and evacs, and you're tanking when you're oom, then I'm sorry to say that you will not ever be welcome in a group again. At the high-level game, it's no more about goofing off and experimenting. To keep your group alive, you need to do what's expected of you. In the case of the druid, it's to maintain group buffs/regen, ensuring the mobs are snared, healing when the cleric is in the middle of a CH (complete heal), and saving enough mana to evac the group when necessary. Even when soloing, the damage done in medding up a nuke or dot is going to FAR exceed any damage you do tanking in the same time-frame. Suffice to say, the only time you'll ever see a druid equipped with this (aside from being twinked), is when he/she is trying to impress the newbies in the orc camps. (And even then, a nice Scoriae is far more impressive.)

I think it is great that druids are finally able to use something nice. I don't have one, buy my best friend does (druid that is) and I looked over some items for druids and there aren't many.

Because to properly heal and Damage Shield, you have to target your party members, which means you're not going to be attacking. Basically, at the level at which you can get this, the sharp disparity in skill will make all the difference in the world. Skill decides how often you hit, and how hard. Since Druids have a level cap much lower than melee classes, we do a lot less damage meleeing. Not only that, but the time you're spending inflicting small amounts of damage on the creature could be better spent medding, so you can inflict large amounts of damage on the creature. Even a weapon like this is not going to measure up to one of our DoTs (at that level,) or even come close to a chain casting of a DD.
Its not only with grouping, either. Soloing our damage output is a small fraction compared to the monster's, so you just plain *can't* take more than a handful of hits over the course of the combat. Soloing essentially means keeping away from the monster. Heck, at the level I'm at (42) I only melee to finish a monster off once its running, and even then its more efficient to DoT it then med.
Unfortunetely, after 30 or so, the only classes that really should be meleeing are the actual melee classes. Everyone else would best serve their groups medding in between spells. Sure, its cool that a druid can use it, but frankly, you'd be better off with something with Wisdom on it.

Sv fire 15 is excellent! The Dmg/Del is awesome, but not the best. I would substitute this while fighting something which is fire casting.
7 weight is not that big of a deal with stmaina loss, even with 24 delay. Even after you add haste belt, enchanter haste, you still will not get hurt that much on STA. Another thing if you have 100 Sta or more you don't feel the effects of stamina loss. Just take a breather after each fight and sit your ants-in-the-pants down. If that don't work tell a bard with the sleeves, a ranger, a warrior with the many items, a cleric, or any other class to cast invigor on you.
Monks should have never even been mentioned since it is not usable by them. Thank you, have a nice day.

Simply ATROCIOUS weight/delay combo though! Even with Invigor, I'll have a hard time keeping up with the stamina loss... Maybe the weight of these items is to scare monks away... >:)

Sure this is a 1 HS.. but if it woulda been blunt . it would have gotten a post saying it should be lighter and monk usable.
