Does it actually work? I use to get a message saying i land a thunderous kick. Since the patch was put in so you would need to buy these tomes i have yet to get that message.
Ey, this reply comes 5 years late, and Like many other players, I'm sure you have left EQ to go to WoW, or another better MMORPG. Man, EQ sure is a dying game, and....does anyone even come to this site anymore????
*AHEM*
To answer your question, NO, this does not work. In fact, it not only reduces your chances to land a Flying Kick greatly, but when you don't land a more powerful flying kick, you will do significantly less damage. Taken into consideration the little bit of extra damage you will do when a 'thunderous' kick is landed, versus the great odds of actually landing a 'thunderous kick', and generally doing less damage with a regular kick, this spell is simply not worth the Combat Ability Space. Ey, stick 'Throw Stone' in the spot where you would have this Sh*tty *** discipline.
Chance to land flying kick, from a 65 monk in PoP era are NOT decreased. It's a good disc, but not as good as Ashenhand.
Parses show Thunderkick increasing hit % with flying kicks from ~67% accuracy to ~72% accuracy, and the damage increase with more hits makes the dps of Flying Kick go up around +60%.
Using Thunderkick will add ~50-55 dps on average (It usually does 72 on avg). Not bad for a 10 minute cooldown.
Ashenhand adds triple this, ~150 dps, but with a 30 minute cooldown.
I still play everquest. Over time i realized the answer to this question. This skill isn't on the same timer as throw stone not that i would ever use that anyways at least as of this posting. =-)
