Well there a re a ton of drums out there that are better now but........If you have the coins I think it doesnt matter now, FV is now an Evil city and I dont know where all the NPC went, maybe the event killed em all.
Right now this quest is BROKEN! The npc is a banker and the last patch made it so you can no longer hand items to bankers. Already been petitioned. Watch for patch fix and hold your coins
the "assistant" : the bankers now have assistants. apparently they do that and something with keys and keyrings / flags? im not even gonna pretend to understand....

This was a quick quest to complete - IF you are a 51 druid with a 51 monk helping out. <GRIN> 1) Ported to Emerald jungle - backed up to the mountain invised and began foraging. Got my coin in about 15 min. 2) Gated to my bind point - (FM LOIO zone line) and ran around the lake to the goblin ruins Gave myself lev (out of fish scales) and ran out to the astral projection. Dive onder the platform, snare a DW gob, surface and run to shore. - Root and dot, med up til repeat til dead. Coin in about 15 min. 3) Gathered up Monk friend Ran to OT, Near the OUTpost there is a ram into the pit (avoided the guardians) ran along the outside - tracking til I had a scrounger. Walked the monk to it. he jumped in - Killed and looted it - Almost died getting out, a few feigns and some long distance heals - did the trick. (this was the Hardest coin to get) 20min 4) Ran to Dalnir, followed the monk down to the room. I healed and buffed while he killed everything in sight - turning up a ton of cresent armor but, alas no fighting battons. Over an hour here - Got the pop as I was porting out - moved to dissrupt - killed and looted. 5) Ran to field of Bone, and bound all outside Kaesora. In we go - getting completely lost, but ending up behind the library anyway. Looted a monk 2hb, let a few mantles rot, got one book 2 hours later - bleary eyed and fading we decide to bail - when we get the failed raider, Quick kill and loot - history. 6) The following night we head into City of Mist with another 51 monk for back up. - the spot where the captain pops is camped, so we pull from the PVP area for a while. About 2am the place emtied out but I and my friend keep going LD. As we are leaving the Captain pops at the exit. I cast snare - Go LD. Call friend - Also LD, Call backup buddy - He killed it and got the coin. Log on the next morning - shout out to see if anyone has a coin - am Given one by a Dark elf Sk. Pass over all to the Bard - and port him to Toxx. He gets Star of odus, Port him to BB and meet him at the bank - where he shows me his new Nostrolo Tambourine! A very rewarding few days.
With a little help - an easy quest - Don't be afraid to shout out for high lvl help - As it turns out they have as much fun as you do - without the high risk.
Great walkthrough. I was thinking you had to be much higher level. I plan on doing this for my 14th level bard with my 52nd druid and a few friends, think my 51 bard and 49 monk should do the trick.
Anyway, I had to laugh. Was late at night after reading this post and I took my 189 foraging skill druid to EJ to forage up a coin. Figured how long could it take. I port in, hit forage and pow, there it is! I couldn't believe it. How easy can you get?
Thanks again for the walkthrough. If I can't find a walrus drum for 1k I'll get this for him instead.
this thing kicks the mistmoore drums ***. not only do you run faster (23% compared to 17% better than without a drum), this also has a real drum visual, instead of the strumming flute visual you usually get when playing drums. i love it.
I originally got this tamborine in my 20's. Now at 52 and using Walrus Skin drums the tamborine sits in my bank unused (except as a backup for the occasional corpse run).
I'm wondering if I should try giving the tamborine to Vhalen Nostrolo in South Karana. It is, after all, his tamborine.
Granted he existed before Kunark, and the creation of the tamborine quest, so its not very likely anything has been added but I feel its worth a try since I don't use the tamborine anymore.

And im sure he had someone forage the other coin for him or even bought some of them. I know ive sold a few coins to very none bard classes so they can easily twink their bards.
Be careful when running in a group with this because people on auto-follow who bump into anything will be delayed enough they will be kicked off auto-follow. Also, anyone in the group who is overloaded and doesn't have safefall will be taking serious damage in hilly areas since you just went from being Ben Stein to Ben Johnson.
Lowest I've seen done was by a guy in our guild... He got it at lvl 13 and started before that. Although he did have high lvl friends helping. I'm gonna try to get started with my bard at lvl 9

hummm not really, you see, selos drum of the march is 36 percent more and tambourine is only 26 so for sure you will run faster with the drum of the march
Are the coins that are related to the quest NO DROP? Like, could I bust out my mage, collect these coins, then give them to my bard to hand in for the Tamborine? I remember seeing some coin at that Astral Projection vendor in Lake of Ill Omen - near the Bloodgill Goblins - but didn't buy it; I believe it was called an "Old Coin," and was wondering if it was the same thing someone sold to him... and if that's the case, then that coin isn't NO DROP. *shrug*
That's just the suggested level to complete the quest with killing the coin-holding mobs. The item comments at eqmaps.com show a 23rd level bard completed the quest sucessfully.
