I am curious. the eqatlas map of mistmoore states that the lute is Mynthi's more common drop, and the drum is the rare. over a total of 3 spawns today in mistmoore (of mynthi, not counting place holders) she had the drum each time. Is it possible that the rarity is backwards and the lute is the rare and the drum common? or were we just extremely lucky to get three spawns with three drums? Of course, we wanted the lute, not the drum.

Killed the last week repeatedly in castle mistmoore, moonlight essence is such a nice moneymaker and in general it's a great place to venture out, now i can solo almost anything and except for a few monsters there is hardly exp it's still potential lethal as numbers can get overwhelming. Anyway never too lazy to get Mynthi down another time whenever she is up, i had up to now the pleasure of 5 drums and 1 lute. (lute dropped actually of a werewolf who seemed to be her placeholder)Now i don't really camp mynthi but venture through all kinds of passages alleys etc, but indeed it seems like the lute is the rarer item.
Got this off a vendor in EFP for a smashing 4pp.

supposedly this instrument adds 5% to whatever song you are playing. But some songs do have caps as to how much you can do with them.

I just sold this lute on Xegony for 400pp
I had a guildmate who had one of these lutes and was curious about the actual increase so he let me borrow it for a few minutes. At somewhere between level 47 and 51, I can't remember my level at the time I tested it, The lute of the gypsy princess had exactly no increase to the health regen rate of either hymm of restoration or niv's melody of preservation compared to my store bought (or actually bard mob dropped) wt 0.0 mandolin mandolin...
tested:
decrease my HPs using bard chants,
wait for chants to wear off,
fire up hymm with regular mandolin equipped and count off the hp each tick over a 10 tick period while standing.
repeat using hymm and lute of gypsie...
repeat using niv's and mandolin...
repeat using niv's and lute of gypsie...

I'm curious whether you timed it too. Maybe it doesn't change the amount of the heal, but the ticks go 5% faster? Unlikely, but I'd guess it's possible.
I have used this lute and found myself at level 24 healing at 10 points a tic with spikes of 15 to 20 points a tic.

Magic instruments add a haste to bard songs, this one adds only a 5% haste.

Silence you fool. Haste to bard song? Please tell me you're not a bard. No wait, you're the level 20 bard in full Singing steel who only plays one song at a time and quits in disgust saying "b4rds suXX0r" when you start to get beaten by blue cons.
LoTGP has a 2.1 modifier to all string bard songs. The combine Lute/Mandolin has a 2.2 , so there's no way I'd pay over 50pp for this item when a superior lute can be bought in stores for just over that amount.

Actually, there is no single amount that an instrument adds to all songs...each instrument affects different songs by different amounts.

This is NOT the quest lute! You want the qypsy lute which is NO DROP.

musikman is correct.. this is just for making music.. it's the Gypsy lute you need to make the lambent BP
