GLOWING SKULL QUEST

I read the Mirgon Dower's Head quest and realised the glowing skull needed for this quest is dropped by alot of the skellies in Kurn's Tower, so I gave one of these dropped glowing skulls to the cook and got this Skull of Torture in return.
You DO NOT need to fulfill the quest requirements of mixing and combining hard to find items. Just take this dropped item to the cook and get your reward, then kill him and get a nice shield too!

I gave him a dropped skull today and recieved the skull of torture. The cook despawned however. It's highly unlikely that I will ever do the quest again to see if he always poofs now after a turn in.

This mob is so easy now it is not even funny, I solo him with an UNTWINKED 8 zerker with no problem what so ever. HP dropped, Damage dropped, Attack dropped, speed dropped. If anything, this mob is OVER conned now, YAY, more exp for an easy mob.

I've read conflicting posts about the undercon of the rotting flesh eater as of today (patch fix?)

... I am not sure if he was "fixed" but I am posting my old experience with him in case he is still the OMG undercon he used to be.

As of March of 2001 he was a genuine challenge to my 46 de sk...

A guildie was screaming about this guy so I went to take him down as a favor. I figured it would be a snare, dot him once maybe twice, let the friend loot the thingie and go home kind of mission. I didn't even cast a pet to aggro him.

Boy was I wrong.

First he was faster than I expected a lvl 14 mob to be.

Second, he had the hitpoint collection of a lvl 50ish warrior! I'd say this mob had just over 7 THOUSAND hitpoints on him.

Third, he hit like a lvl 40 mob at the least. Every time he landed a blow (far more frequently than I'd expect a several levels down greenie to manage), he nailed me for 60 dmg or very close to it. Considering I was in full plate.....

Fourth, he was actually *frequently* able to interrupt my spells even though my chan is maxed out, my dex is over 100 and I was wearing full plate and bashing him with my shield. He also liked to take off at a dead run at about 51% health, and he was happy to come back with buddies if allowed to get away.

Even at level 46, being hit for 60 damage is enough to make me cautious. I can't *imagine* being level 14 and soaking this guy's damage without a *good* full group (bring a healer)... preferably a sowed full group with dots, snares, roots, and slows.

If the glowing skull dropped by the occasional skellie will fulfill this quest, then GO DO THAT.

If you just want burning affliction 1 (at a level where it makes sense) then go kill the wee lizard men in feerott till one of them drops the medicine bag with that effect on it (they are like level 8 at best).

If you want a +int mod and the burning affliction 1 (again at a level where it makes sense), Go kill the gnoll embalmer (14ish - maybe 17ish?) at the entrance from L. Rathe to South Karana. For two less int and no other major stats except the effect, it makes way more sense to me than battling this crazy massive undercon.

The dropped version of the Glowing Skull is for the Iskar Shadowknight quest "Greenmist". A very good sword for them, but I doubt that you can use it for this turn in.

they did something to the rotting flesh eaters, they hit a little lighter now and have a fraction of the hit points they had the first few times i've fought them.

Burning Affliction
# Jan 19 2004 at 11:20 AM Rating: Decent
My necro just got this, and the Burning Affliction doesn't seem to be working. He doesn't have level 20 spells yet, so all his DoTs should be covered. But neither Engulfing Darkness nor Heat Blood nor Leach seem to be affected.

Is anyone else having this problem (or not having it)? It kind of sucks that it doesn't work, since there is such a short time that Burning Affliction I is usable.

I have a Robe of Misery with Burning Affliction 3...it increases DoT damage by a RANDOM 1% - 20% each tick. It is quite possible that it will not add any damage due to the random factor, esp at low amounts of base damage.

I don't know how many of you know this, but you don't have to do the actual quest to get this item. Every once in a while the greater skeletons and lesser icebone skeletons in Kurn's will drop "a glowing skull". It identifies as either a cook's head or a skeletal cook's head, and it is Tiny. Just take that to the Cook on the top floor of Kurn's and turn it in to him, he'll hand you The Skull of Torture and drop to the ground. It's much simpler than trying to kill the godling known as a flesh hunter.

Yup, I have also done it this way.

I just sat up on the top floor and cleared the skellies.
One of them dropped "a glowing skull" and when "a skeletal cook" finally popped in the corner of the dining room(his PH is "a thick boned skeleton"), I handed the skull to it and got The Skull of Torture (and a little exp), no mess, no fuss.

I took my 30 bard to kurns to get an ikky b club... On the way out i ran into one of these monkeys... took me and hour and a half to kill it, hits for 60+ and has omfg hp, i charmed another one and sent it on it's own kinda the last half hour... really sped things up ; )
Rotting flesh

I'd like to see a lvl 20 peep get the rotting flesh from the WAY undercon Rotting flesh eater in FoB. My lvl 55 Druid had a fun time with it LOL.

GL to any attempting this. Be VERY careful of the flesh eater 7K hp on a lvl 14 mob.

Not a joke like the EW snow bunnies either. :)

I will agree that the Eater is one heck of an undercon...i took my Bst at 39 to get him had my pet tanking and using my new DoT that does 27 per tick and last a min or so and i had to repeatedly cast it before he died. On the plus side he was not really hurting my warder so i never had to heal him. But the Eater runs like mad once he his about 45-50% life, making for a merry romp though FoB chasing a mob that is green to me but refussing to die
LvL off?

Its odd to me that an effect that is lvl 20 and under is earned at lvl 20 truely limiting its usefullness.... Personally i like the BAM... same int better ac lacks the the hp and mana but it has mana prevervation 2 on it making it usefull up to lvl 44 and beyond, also sence it works on all types of spells its not just usefull till you replaced old DoT spells...my 54 cleric still uses it sence not ALL of my spells from 44 have been replaced with improved versions. But that aside this is a nice quest item for any iksar that wonts to stay home and still quest. When and if they ever put in noob armor quests this will make a fine addition to the line of "Newbies and Non-twinkers" quest Sony has started
