friend told me how they work
what set them off
# Jul 26 2004 at 9:57 PM Rating: Decent
Have a 36 lvl druid and yet to see them prox. cast dod . what does it take to get them to go off!!!!
RE: what set them off
# Aug 05 2004 at 4:45 PM Rating: Decent
you must a) be lvl 45 or over, b) have them equiped and c) right click on them.

Only if all these conditions are true will they work. They do not 'proc' like melee weapons.... these things are called 'clickies'.

Just saying incase any others don't know how to use this type of equipment :)

Are these clicky from inventory, or do they have to be equiped?

The best part of these arms really, the same as the tanglewood sheild with clicky ensnare, is they free up a spell slot for more usefull spells, like heals and nukes, i bought these at 44, and i'm still using them on 99% of mobs and im now 61, even on raids or adventures when im the healer these are great, you get to do a little damage and your not using mana / or a spell slot

i have clicky Evac, ensare and these arms

The only problem with the lvl 15 vs. Mr. SG is that the Kunark Armor doesn't proc until 45, neither does the staff I would imagine. Too bad you can't kill the SG with your 10 damage root from your Tunare symbol.

heh funny you mention that as I use my symbol as an extra dot when hunting HG's in Rathe. Here's my typical line up for them:

pull with es guants snare
root them with warden symbol
cast winged death
clicky my es vambraces
clicky my nature walkers scimitar
and then click after click of warden symbol for extra damage and keep it rooted.

Kind of a funny way to do it, but the only thing that's using mana is winged death so my mana usage is nil.

Note about cast time
# Oct 14 2002 at 7:18 PM Rating: Excellent
Ok this for those that complain about the cast time. Next time you cast a spell count how many seconds it takes before you can recast any spell. It should come out to around two seconds. Now with any clickable item you dont have to wait that 2 second delay. The tactic to use an item like this is to use it right after you cast a spell on a mob and immediatly cast after i.e. Cast Winged Death, as soon as the cast timer dissapears right click on arm or hit your hotkey for them, then as soon as the cast timer for the arms goes follow up with like Breath of Ro. By doing this you effectivly cut the cast time on these bad boys by 4 secs. Not bad for mana free damage & yes if you own these you can kill any mob you can keep snared its just a matter of time. (fun sometimes to solo a mob for 30min+ on no manna just running away to med hoping you get enough mana for a real spell)

Hope this helps and isn't too confusing.

Stack?
# Oct 06 2002 at 12:11 PM Rating: Decent
The drones spell seems to STACK with the drifting death that I cast.. at least it did when I cast on myself, can anyone confirm that they stack on mobs? If so... well, everyone's saying that they're good for finishing off mobs when you're oom... but if I can stack 3 dots at lvl 45 with these... AWESOME!
RE: Stack?
# Oct 15 2002 at 11:11 PM Rating: Decent
It's true, this will stack with Creeping Crud and Drifting Death when you get it at Lvl 44, then Winged Death at 53.

Man....

I have been tripple stacking DoTs since the patch came out that allowed them.....

first it was right when i got my third DoT. Immolate - for 240 hp
Creeping Crud - DoT for 210 hp
stinging swarm - DoT for 117 hp

thats 567 hp in 10 ticks......

once i got drones of doom............

tossed stinging swarm and used that. DoT for 340 hp in 10 ticks so that brings my totall to 790 hp in 10 ticks.

now add snare and root and you got yourself a party!!!!

This is mainly for quadding druids.
You know when u have like 2% hp and still have two mobs on you with like 14% life? well i have the solution!
root one, the other will try to run at u and when hes far enough away from other he will try to run, use ES vambraces on both, reapply if necessary and two dead mobs :)
quite a mana saver in the end it turns out
just watch out for gating mobs, i had several spirocs gate on me when i was running back to the other one

Our guild leader lost all his stuff when a wizzie accidently ported him to EJ, he died, went LD, and his computer broke down for 2 weeks. During a raid on Najena, we were outside waiting for a 54 cleric to buff us, and she just gave him these. I am forever jealous. =P

Was starting to think these didnt exist after spending countless hours in KC and slaying these sentrys on a regular basis. Last night 3 of us pulled a single while waiting to get a full group together and * bingo * these dropped. Lost the roll though but at least I know they do exist.

Sacrifice
# Apr 16 2002 at 8:38 AM Rating: Decent
Makes sense to me. I currently have 2 RMB, but would pay to get one of these. Free spell that costs no mana? That's a nice exchange for 10 WIS.
And my RMB look like plate as well.
RE: Sacrifice
# Apr 18 2002 at 11:41 AM Rating: Decent
You wouldn't have to give up the RMB, those are wrist slots. This is an arm slot. So, DO NOT sell your RMB for this hehe, you'll just feel like a dummy with 10 less WIS and nice arms.

Just a thought...

Not that great
# Feb 11 2002 at 9:11 AM Rating: Decent
Just my humble opinion, got a pair of these for 1200pp on Xev server when I was lvl 43, and couldn't wait to hit 45 to try them. Thought it was pretty stupid that had to wait til 45 to use a spell I already had, and would have a better by 44. But what the hey? A DOT for no mana? I hit 45 in the middle of a guild raid in COM. Already had them ready and waiting. Right clicked the first time, and poof, the mob was dead before it even finished casting. Haven't tried them solo yet, but it seems in the time it takes to cast this sucker, and for only half the amount of damage drifting death does, they aren't worth much more. Will still look for some good wis arms to use in a raid. But they do look pretty!
RE: Not that great
# Sep 06 2002 at 3:54 AM Rating: Decent
An excellent tactic I would use with these(don't have them yet, and I'm only lvl 42) is to snare, then right click dot with these while rounding up a quad. Since you use no mana, and its part of the regular process anyways, it takes a considerable amount of HP out *before you even start to AE nuke. Just a thought on strategy.

The problem with this strategy is the casting time. The 8 second casting time pretty much makes it inefficient from a time standpoint to cast this when quadding. The only use they have for quadding is for using to finish off the last mob in your quad mana-free.
RE: Not that great
# Mar 21 2002 at 6:26 PM Rating: Decent
Haven't you ever run out of mana when the mob is at a sliver of life, only to have your dot wear off then? Having these allows the druid to not only finish off the mob mana free, but also lets them start saving up mana for the next mob.
RE: Not that great
# Aug 22 2002 at 7:45 AM Rating: Decent
Good point. I got these last week and finally tried them out this morning while soloing Hill Giants for plat in RM. I was down to 20m and decided I would try them out. Snared one and pulled him to the side then rooted and right clicked these. By the time he was dead I was back up to 60m. Can kill while your mana goes up. Nice even if it is a low level spell. All I had to do was recast root as needed.

lol u should get some of the other cool druid items ,, like the warden of tunare necklace clickable grasping roots so 10 damge and root ,, i use this to finish of mobs right now casue i dont have the vambraces yet ,, i also have the ES gloves for free snare ,, so once i get my vambs i can root snare and dot all for free :P

ES Gauntlets are fairly useless since the effect is snare, and not the far superior ensnare. Also, ensnare has very low mana cost as it is (35, if I remember correctly), and unlike root, snares do not have a random duration. Once it sticks, it's on for 10 minutes.
RE: Not that great
# Mar 10 2003 at 9:28 AM Rating: Decent
root last for 10 ticks (same as all druid dots thus far) at lvl 45
RE: Not that great
# Jul 19 2003 at 11:01 AM Rating: Default
depends on the root you're using. Grasping Roots is random; Enveloping Roots is the fixed 1 min (10 tick) variety. Grasping Roots can last longer than 10 ticks if the mob doesn't succeed on their roll to break it before then (but usually they do...).
wonderful post 45 druid combo
# Feb 09 2002 at 2:00 AM Rating: Decent
druids whom are post 45 and have decent +wis gear in all other slots, try this combo...it seems to work very well both solo and in group and has saved my **** mana a time when soloing since 45:)

ES gaunts=free snare
ES Vambs=free dot

so basically I can run about with no weapon, oom etc. and never be defenseless:)

downsides are: Drones is kinda a tacky DoT at 45, but hey it works...and the snare is quite a bit more resistable than your casted snare etc...but so far this combo has worked great, allowed me to function in group and solo even when oom

just a suggestion mates

A total waste of arm space until 45 when you can actually activate the effect. A good wisdom item til then would serve you much better.
