RE: what set them off
# Aug 05 2004 at 4:45 PM Rating: Decent
you must a) be lvl 45 or over, b) have them equiped and c) right click on them.

Only if all these conditions are true will they work. They do not 'proc' like melee weapons.... these things are called 'clickies'.

Just saying incase any others don't know how to use this type of equipment :)

The best part of these arms really, the same as the tanglewood sheild with clicky ensnare, is they free up a spell slot for more usefull spells, like heals and nukes, i bought these at 44, and i'm still using them on 99% of mobs and im now 61, even on raids or adventures when im the healer these are great, you get to do a little damage and your not using mana / or a spell slot

i have clicky Evac, ensare and these arms

The only problem with the lvl 15 vs. Mr. SG is that the Kunark Armor doesn't proc until 45, neither does the staff I would imagine. Too bad you can't kill the SG with your 10 damage root from your Tunare symbol.

heh funny you mention that as I use my symbol as an extra dot when hunting HG's in Rathe. Here's my typical line up for them:

pull with es guants snare
root them with warden symbol
cast winged death
clicky my es vambraces
clicky my nature walkers scimitar
and then click after click of warden symbol for extra damage and keep it rooted.

Kind of a funny way to do it, but the only thing that's using mana is winged death so my mana usage is nil.

Note about cast time
# Oct 14 2002 at 7:18 PM Rating: Excellent

Ok this for those that complain about the cast time. Next time you cast a spell count how many seconds it takes before you can recast any spell. It should come out to around two seconds. Now with any clickable item you dont have to wait that 2 second delay. The tactic to use an item like this is to use it right after you cast a spell on a mob and immediatly cast after i.e. Cast Winged Death, as soon as the cast timer dissapears right click on arm or hit your hotkey for them, then as soon as the cast timer for the arms goes follow up with like Breath of Ro. By doing this you effectivly cut the cast time on these bad boys by 4 secs. Not bad for mana free damage & yes if you own these you can kill any mob you can keep snared its just a matter of time. (fun sometimes to solo a mob for 30min+ on no manna just running away to med hoping you get enough mana for a real spell)

Hope this helps and isn't too confusing.

The drones spell seems to STACK with the drifting death that I cast.. at least it did when I cast on myself, can anyone confirm that they stack on mobs? If so... well, everyone's saying that they're good for finishing off mobs when you're oom... but if I can stack 3 dots at lvl 45 with these... AWESOME!

It's true, this will stack with Creeping Crud and Drifting Death when you get it at Lvl 44, then Winged Death at 53.

I have been tripple stacking DoTs since the patch came out that allowed them.....

first it was right when i got my third DoT. Immolate - for 240 hp
Creeping Crud - DoT for 210 hp
stinging swarm - DoT for 117 hp

thats 567 hp in 10 ticks......

once i got drones of doom............

tossed stinging swarm and used that. DoT for 340 hp in 10 ticks so that brings my totall to 790 hp in 10 ticks.

now add snare and root and you got yourself a party!!!!

This is mainly for quadding druids.
You know when u have like 2% hp and still have two mobs on you with like 14% life? well i have the solution!
root one, the other will try to run at u and when hes far enough away from other he will try to run, use ES vambraces on both, reapply if necessary and two dead mobs :)
quite a mana saver in the end it turns out

Makes sense to me. I currently have 2 RMB, but would pay to get one of these. Free spell that costs no mana? That's a nice exchange for 10 WIS.
And my RMB look like plate as well.

# Apr 18 2002 at 11:41 AM Rating: Decent
You wouldn't have to give up the RMB, those are wrist slots. This is an arm slot. So, DO NOT sell your RMB for this hehe, you'll just feel like a dummy with 10 less WIS and nice arms.

# Feb 11 2002 at 9:11 AM Rating: Decent
Just my humble opinion, got a pair of these for 1200pp on Xev server when I was lvl 43, and couldn't wait to hit 45 to try them. Thought it was pretty stupid that had to wait til 45 to use a spell I already had, and would have a better by 44. But what the hey? A DOT for no mana? I hit 45 in the middle of a guild raid in COM. Already had them ready and waiting. Right clicked the first time, and poof, the mob was dead before it even finished casting. Haven't tried them solo yet, but it seems in the time it takes to cast this sucker, and for only half the amount of damage drifting death does, they aren't worth much more. Will still look for some good wis arms to use in a raid. But they do look pretty!

An excellent tactic I would use with these(don't have them yet, and I'm only lvl 42) is to snare, then right click dot with these while rounding up a quad. Since you use no mana, and its part of the regular process anyways, it takes a considerable amount of HP out *before you even start to AE nuke. Just a thought on strategy.

The problem with this strategy is the casting time. The 8 second casting time pretty much makes it inefficient from a time standpoint to cast this when quadding. The only use they have for quadding is for using to finish off the last mob in your quad mana-free.
RE: Not that great
# Mar 21 2002 at 6:26 PM Rating: Decent
Haven't you ever run out of mana when the mob is at a sliver of life, only to have your dot wear off then? Having these allows the druid to not only finish off the mob mana free, but also lets them start saving up mana for the next mob.

Good point. I got these last week and finally tried them out this morning while soloing Hill Giants for plat in RM. I was down to 20m and decided I would try them out. Snared one and pulled him to the side then rooted and right clicked these. By the time he was dead I was back up to 60m. Can kill while your mana goes up. Nice even if it is a low level spell. All I had to do was recast root as needed.

Where ever you go, there you are.

ES Gauntlets are fairly useless since the effect is snare, and not the far superior ensnare. Also, ensnare has very low mana cost as it is (35, if I remember correctly), and unlike root, snares do not have a random duration. Once it sticks, it's on for 10 minutes.

depends on the root you're using. Grasping Roots is random; Enveloping Roots is the fixed 1 min (10 tick) variety. Grasping Roots can last longer than 10 ticks if the mob doesn't succeed on their roll to break it before then (but usually they do...).
You only live once, but once is enough if you do it right.

druids whom are post 45 and have decent +wis gear in all other slots, try this seems to work very well both solo and in group and has saved my **** mana a time when soloing since 45:)

ES gaunts=free snare
ES Vambs=free dot

so basically I can run about with no weapon, oom etc. and never be defenseless:)

downsides are: Drones is kinda a tacky DoT at 45, but hey it works...and the snare is quite a bit more resistable than your casted snare etc...but so far this combo has worked great, allowed me to function in group and solo even when oom

just a suggestion mates

Don't get me wrong. I have found these very useful, and dammit, they look pretty spiffy on me Halfie (least my arms don't look like newbie gear anymore).

But what the **** is the deal on the AC of these things??? They have 1 AC LESS than the ES Gauntlets for crying out loud (9AC, 5.0 wt) and they weigh more!?!?! I am wearing these in place of a pair of the Imbued Studded (Halfie Cultural) which gained me 2AC and 5.5 stone in weight (and cost me 2 wis/stam).
Bloody ****! I mean, they are Vambraces, how about a couple more points of AC on those bad boys?

Onre more note on the prices of things, every time an expansion came out the prices of all the items before the expansion are lowered, example plat wis ring 6wis 400p before velious, 150p after velious, this is because velious gave people +1 more wis on a ring slot for only about 100-300 more p then they were paying already, this is the highest +wis item for ring slot too so it makes it more expensive and 6wis ring less expensive. When kunark came out it had uber stat items and everything before kunark came out had sucky stats, I mean look at the jewelry! Kunark changed the economy totally, velious changed it a lot too with all the uber quest armor and +wis/int hand haled/range items. ok I'm done....

#TraversePrexus, Posted: Jul 22 2001 at 3:00 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I'm sorry Imfusio Fortissimus but you are rather stupid or have limited knowledge in EQ buying/selling. How many items (not no drop) are there for boots that give wis? About 4 or so. Thats makes +wis boots rare, therfore, more expensive. Hand held items with +9wis are going to be less expensive because there is +10wis +10mana off hand book thats is very easy to get at lvl 20. See the logic? More +wis items for that slot=less money. Although if the item has ammounts of wis for that slot that no other item has (like eboots) its going to be more expensive too. Example:Ivy hoop +6wis/int, highest int/wis for ear slot (that isn't no drop) makes it very expensive because people want max wis/int in every slot. Its very hard to get too because A, you must find the quest NPC and she is rare. B, you must give her a gem that costs about 150p (if my memory serves me) and you have a very very rare chance of getting this earring, hence really high price.

Yes, that is all true, however the GEBs are about as easy to get as the Crafted Boots with way less wis.. Freeti is an easy camp to get if you can get the people to go with you.. and I still dont got them cause I can never get the camp, or people to go to the camp lol. Anyways, the GEBs are a bit harder to get with a lot more wis, and more people that can use them.. the price for them are starting to level out now... average price on Bristlebane is around 6k... I dunno, but pricing on EQ is crazy... hehe I dunno, I just want the GEBs by fighting for them, not by buying anyways, as all my gear has been obtained by myself with exceptions to my Polished Mithril Mask, and my reed belt.. maybe something else. Anyways the post I previously posted to this topic is old, and my knowledge much less great hehe, but conclusively, your right, and I just want me some gebs lol... the ES arms are pretty rare to get fighting in Karnors, and rough to solo many mobs there at once. mind you, i am not uber in anyways at all hehe, but after accidently destroying my bag with the arms in it for the 2nd time the other day, I am getting the feeling Tunare doesnt want me to have em! lol

Should a lamentation therefore be only worth about 5 times it's value ? Get a brain.

The only reason they would sell for so much ( or used to ) is because you save slots. You can't use 5 can only use one.
You can't compare items that are camped and made. Items that are camped have prices according to rarity and not totally ability.

Just takes a while to kill things, But hey would u rather just be sitting there medding or sitting there medding while killing some thing? **** nice item not as good as the velious quest armor but a must need for any druid.

Just wanted to check that proc lvl is still correct as 45/46. I thought min lvl to use proc was = to lowest lvl that any class gets the spell?? maybe that's wrong, but if not, then since drones is a 34 druid spell why can't druids proc this @ 34?

Starts to proc at 45, not at 46. The spell does 340 damage in 60 seconds. Downside is the relatively longer casting time, but is quite worth it considering it'sa free 141 mana.

The spell Drones of Doom stacks with the level 52 spell Breath of Ro (920 damage +decrease fire resist+ lower AC) and the level 53 spell Winged Death (1287 damage). So...I can waste 250 more mana for 650 damage in Drifting Death, or waste 0 mana in 360 damage of Drones of Doom (All of the 50+ spells stack with the level 49 and below spells, i.e. you can have a 50+ fire and magic DoT and a >49 fire and magic DoT, but not 2 of the same range). This item rocks, I just cant seem to get one to drop =(

I could just about med back the 250 mana for Drifting Death in the time it takes ES arms to cast Drones of Doom =)

The only time this DoT is anywhere near useful is when you are soloing something like the dino that takes 4 DoT cycles to kill.

In a group, a warrior will do more than 360 dam in just a couple rounds if that.
Weee :)

Why does everyone think that being level 50+ means that you have a 200 wis. Mine was 190 untill i bought my ES vambrance(5kpp). Now i have 187 and 3 less str as well. Tell me how to get 200 wis. I could use it.

bah.. dont even reply if your not a druid.. or at least a ranger.. and Know what your talkin about... these are things that are worth 10k, but been out a Long time, and people brought price down.... and for example.. gebs.. they been out a REALLY Long time, and shouldnt still be 10k! lol... all the stuff you want, costs the most....
and another thing thats been bugging me...
Imbued Mithril Boots.. adds 2wis
Golden Efreeti boots.. adds 9wis

2wis Boots go for bout 1k..
if they were 4wis boots, should be 2k
if they were 6wis boots, should be 3k
if they were 8wis boots, should be 4k
if they were 10wis boots, should be 5k

now 10wis boots SHOULS be 5k
but 9wis boots for 10k !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think it ridiculous.. gebs should be under 9k at least... some people will sell them for that much... but most people still sell for 10k
consider the Velium Ruby Veil... 8wis, right? maybe 7... i think 8 though... anyways, that sellfor bout 900pp to 1k
i think you see my point here...
anyways.. that part shouldd be posted on gebs section hehe oh well

The flaw in your logic is in your example. There are very few wis/int items for the feet. Doesn't matter that the velium ruby veil is 1k, there's a lot of different face items out there with either wis/int/mana whatever you're looking for, with the exception of the halfling anklet GEB's are argueably the only foot wis/int item before velious. That's why the price has now been dropping, (along with the saturation of them into the economy.) In closing. the reason GEB's were so high and were kept there was because GEB's = massively uber footwear. :-)

Sorry that title should read WOULDNT, typo :)
#Anonymous, Posted: Feb 27 2001 at 1:32 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) There really is no way this item can sustain a 10K price tag now that velious is out. Its AC sucks, and the dot sucks. Once this effect is available you already have drifting death. But I suppose if you are the solo type this could be used to your advantage to root dot. anyhoo, I predict this will come down to 3K soon, especially since there are so many higher lvl players now, and this is not that uncommon a drop.

These vambraces are, as has already been stated, dropped off of small sentrys in Karnor's castle, NOT the captain.

These are some nice vambraces. I got some the other day and couldn't be happier. The Drones of Doom spell is a lvl 39 druid spell, but it costs no mana and you can never beat that. It does however have a long casting time, I believe it is double what Drones of Doom, in your spell book, normally takes. One thing it doesn't show in the picture is that they are lore.
