IF you go to Phinny's room it's 3 levels.

Go to the bottom level.
Go to the North wall, about halfway up is a ledge with a big rock. Your drop is on top of this rock.

Got in the last room and Phinny got me before I knew it (I hate fish now).

I almost esacped, but to no avail for I became Phinny food. Stangely all the seahorses coned indifferent to me while invisable and didn't attack. I started down the hole to get the finger bones considering it worth while if I got them and died in the attempt. Well, you know the rest. I was bored, gave it a shot and paid the price (as expected).

Getting to Phinny's room was easy with only a few invisability potions. Getting by the seahorses was easy by going down the north side (as posted). But, don't do this without a tracker to spot Phinny at the entrance, bcause you will have wasted a lot of game time working your way there only to find him between you and the bones. Other posts have him on a 12-hour cycle. I have not checked this out, but there are no other posts to refute this.

Good hunting

This part of the quest is definantly the hardest. I started with duoing my 48 Paladin and my dad's 70 cleric. first i started to just fight my way through not even knowing where I was going... bad idea. After only about 5 minutes, Fendiyenae, the cleric died instantly from The Fabled Estrella of Gloomwater. After summoning and rezzing in the guild lobby, I made another attempt, this time just with Sherpadik, my pally, and a whole lot-o-invis potions. I wandered carelessly yet again and died from the same mob without even seeing her again. I took 3 hits almost 2k each. I went back with Fendi to try and rezz Sherp. I found and rezzed him but next thing you know I have that B*&%H fabled mob on me agian. Luckely I had my divine barrier up and used it. From there I swam as fast as I could to somewhere (I still didnt know where it was i was at/going), got trapped, and died. On my next attempt, I went just with Sherp again, but this time I was prepared. I read all the logs, and looked at al the maps till I was sure where I was going. The invis was sticking supisingly well and I continued on. When I reached Patriarch's Room, I spotted a corpse just west in a little room. It was Fendi's. I rezzed her with my ghetto, 35% rez and had her medd while I continued onward. I was extremely foolish to continue without just waiting for fendi to med because I just swam into Phinny's room(thank god he wasn't up)and died right in the center where Phinny stays. Those seahorses saw throu my invis and spun me arround while they nuked me. My hp went down extremely fast and Fendi had no mana for she was just finnishing giving herself some much-needed conviction. After a long/hard meditaion, I thought of what to do. I took fendi, fully buffed and medded into phinnys room. There I foolishly rezzed Sherp. He poped and I tried to swim him to the rock where the finger bones lay(suicide mission attempt), but they werent there. Strangly the seahorses never went after Fendi afterward. My next plan. Memmed Fendi's Pacify spell and lulled each monster. I pulled one. Coned very light blue to lvl 70 btw, and started beating it. I had Ward of Vengence on and started hitting it, but I couldnt get one nuke uff so i just meled the thing and healed myself... very slow fight. The stupid thing kept resisting the parry spell and healing itself. After about a whole 20 minutes of fighting, I finnally killed the friggen thing. After wards I decided that this was taking WAY too long and they would respawn before I killed all of them. So then a glimps of brilliance shinned on me. I could just pacify all of them, rezz Sherp, pacify again, rezz the other Sherp's corpse, pacify again, and have Sherp swim to the OTHER rock, grab the fingerbones and finish the quest. It worked. afterwards Fendi gated wile I had Sherp die because I didnt feel like running him back to the guild hall. I was very happy when I finally finished.

got this piece tonight by buying a Knotted Turtlebone Ring (I got for 500pp, usu. more) and invis pots. Was my first time in KK, but I got to Phineas' room without a hitch. Seahorses were the only mobs there, so when my invis wore off way below them I forgot to refresh it when I then saw the rocks on/in the ledges/cracks in the walls of the room. Dumb me. 3 more invis potions and a friend coming along to cast EB (only needed it til I got to the corpse) later, and I found the finger bones (they look like a small bag, not a bone, fyi) and jetted out.
Also should note that for those who haven't been in Kedge, my invis wore off twice in different shafts connecting the rooms... no aggro.
Beautiful Zone. I almost felt like a photog =)

it was my experience that someone is always needing to kill phinny for one reason or another. take a tracker with you to see if he is up (wait until he isnt). it may be a few days, but well worth not dying 3 or 4 times in the process of getting this piece.

a shimmering sailfin, is a con green fish in phinnys pit which has less than 160HP (My druids root) and also appears to see invis, so if you see one of these just be aware it could take your invis - then the bit fish come after you.
PS got in got out, although item didn't seem to appear until after I killed that fish, although perhaps i was on the wrong rock in the wall. Also in Tainted room, it will appear there is a brick blocking phinnys room, click it like a door.

I took your advice, grabbed 10 cloudy potions just to be on the safe side and went down with some friends to Kedge. They stayed at the entrance while I went on down to Phinny's room. All was well until I went into the room, conned two seahorses, both were indifferent. So, I float down, making sure to hug the walls, and low and behold I get aggro! My invis did not drop until I was hit. Vortex while a fun spell to see in action is also very disorienting and annoying. The seahorses are clerics and hit me with a 516 dd of Wrath more often that I cared for. They conned dark blue at lvl 53. I lasted a while because I had a cleric back at the zone in that had me in range but barely. Eventually she ran out of mana and I died without being able to find the bag. Thankfully Phinny was not up but as soon as our necro summoned me and the cleric rezzed me, my ranger said "Phinny's up". That was the end of that. We'll try later I suppose, but just FYI - seahorses seeing thru invis is apparently random and I got the short end of the stick. ;)

Ive been trying to complete this quest for quite some time now and these stupid finger bones are the last things i need. I also had everything going well intil I ran into Phinny's room. I too got seahorse agro through my invis and was not able to see any bag due to that vortex spell. o well, ill keep trying.

Thanks to Shemfade's post (in big gap in Phinny's inner circle on a boulder) I found it no problem. I also managed to get in and out without fighting. Woot! I bought a rebreather (1750pp in baz on Tunare) and 8 cloudy potions (invis) and went to DC. I buffed completely (turns out it was unneeded, but still good idea) and went it. I followed the Merry Band's map (on this site) once inside Kedge. I invised once I was in and swam the heck out of my dwarf pally (lvl 49). It is a bit disorienting but I managed to figure it out between my in game map and the Merry Band's one. In Phinny's room there were the seahorses and a mermaid. I got into the face of each seahorse (just by looking into their corners) and none aggroed on me. I avoided the mermaid floating above the centre of the star shaped hole so I don't know if she sees through invis. I went down into Phinny's inner room and looted the finger bones. I used 3 invis potions. One was from paranoia (refreshing it), and another was because invis dropped (fortunately I was in an empty tunnel). I recommend bringing up your inventory screen, loading 3 or 4 cloudy potions in the slots and moving the inventory screen to the extreme side of your display for easy (and fast!) access and so that it's not in your way. Finally, I recommend getting in and out fast too. Why wait for invis to drop? lol. We'll, I've almost lost my adrenaline buzz, so I'm off to the Revenant stage. Good luck everyone!

These were somewhat hard to me to find at first, i ended up searching all over the middle and the inner parts untill i checked the outer walls of the inner circle inside phinny's pit. Right in the wall there is a big gap were a boulder lays *against* the wall. the finger bones sit right up on it.

what sucks most of all = we killed phinny a long time ago during kunark, i picked these up once, thought nothing of it and destroyed them. Couldnt do much about this peice untill a kitty in shining armor came to slay phinny for me =x Thanks Hairey.
