Compared to Crushed Ice Fragment of Visions for 100AP Rec Level 40
Or compared to Worn Gravestone of Awareness for 150AP Rec level 45
If SoE had any sense in their heads, they would make the effect Shadow Sight for this particular item. For those too lazy to click it's Ultravision and See Invis in one. Level 24 Necro spell.
But hey... if you have AP to waste... go for it.

No, it doesn't seem sad. Neither of the items you mention have ultravision. Serpent sight is a step up for night blind races, but it's not ultravision.

Exactly. And for another thing, the worn Serpent Sight item requires collecting 100AP at Everfrost, which some (myself included) might not be too keen to do. It's nicer to just take up one aug slot and get Ultravision down. Being blind in a dungeon is just not a lot of fun, and this aug solves those problems easily and without wasting too many slots.
