dual vielding PGT

very early in the game this weapon was not lore and you could dualwield it, constantly proccing the rune effect, made it possible to use druids as main healer in group,
tho when we as some rag tag team wearing banded and leather armor sneaking down through lower guk in their early 30ies and then get violated by a bloodthirsty ghoul :) by then its obselete :)
on new progression servers this is a good early weapon to get if they follow the timeline with fixxing items too

I just looted one after I gated into High Pass Hold. The mob spawned on me as soon as I got there. If anyone on Maelin Starpyre wants it, send a tell to Bromen. I don't need it.
My Experience
# Jul 01 2004 at 6:19 AM Rating: Decent
I spent the better part of 7 hours in HpH this morning (July 1st,2004). From about 12am EST to 7am EST and the only thing I seen the whole time was the Mob that drops CDS. He spawned right after I had a buddy go kill the Mucktails in EK. This may or may not be coincidence because I had that friend kill those Mucktails in EK more and didnt see any of the Mucktails in HpH after that.

I believe the spawn of the Mucktail in Highpass shortly after the Mucktails in E. Karana were killed is just a coincedence.
proc
# Dec 12 2003 at 5:50 AM Rating: Default
so when you get hit and use up the damage absorb, the buff fades right? for a warrior this would be good for a little while since when it does proc it will count as a free miss (they hit you but you absorb the blow, they lose their hit), and for a little bit it can even absorb a few blows (such as stuff that hits 14s or 18s at lower levels if you twink it). the damage output isnt great but the proc is nice for offhander if you cant find better. im currently using a crystal fiber and this would only be 2dmg lower with same delay, so offhand it owuldnt be too shabby of a weapon.

as for other classes, this is great for rangers as well as lower level paladins and shadow kngihts. its mostly useful for rangers, when it procs it will drop your agi, but who cares it will add that absorb onto you if you do gain accidental argo, which is another plus. but mostly, the free str buff is great.

good twink item, wouldnt use it past 30 though, unless i oculdnt find better. a sword that procs a DoT or lifetap would be better for holding argo, and a better ratio weapon better for classes that dont tank.

im currently 12 with a pretty decent ac. I get hit by blues for maybe 1-20 maybe at most. Id say the average is 1-8? Thats a lot of absorbsion actually. I dont know exactly how it works but Id assume it absorbs AFTER AC plays its part. The server is also PvP which would be very nice. I think I will get one. I own one on a blue server but I have outgrown it. Its awesoem for a ranger, being that we dont always take damage so well.

While the proc is on you, you are invulnerable. Sometimes for 3 or 4 hits.
Location???
# Oct 28 2003 at 8:03 PM Rating: Decent
Ok, I've been running around by the Guard tower looking for this guy for days now. Are there any placeholders for him? And if so, who are they? I've killed every Gnoll I've seen when I'm in there. So any help with his location would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance..

Every gnoll in highpass is a placeholder. His spawn is random. I find it best to camp the path toward Highkeep, just outside of where the pacing guard stops (where you can still see the guard overpass area).

As far as I could tell, the Mucktails can spawn in place of any of the regular spawns, and if not camped by someone els,e they will all eventually run past this spot.

# Nov 02 2003 at 12:27 AM Rating: Decent
Thanks for the info. I'll try that the next time I'm in the area looking for the stupid tomahawk. At the rate I'm going in there, I'll have it embedded in my forhead before I know it. LOL Thank again.
RE: Location???
# Nov 24 2003 at 12:11 PM Rating: Decent
Just stay camped on the left side up near the bridge by the tree. 3 or 4 gnolls pop near there and run by. Patience is a virtue!

I took on that gnoll single handedly in a group but befire i could loot it i got attacked by three others <not a good thing if your a rogue> and while i was being pounded on another team mate looted the polished granite tomahawk that i was here for and as u can see im still looking for it <he got booted from group for looting when i hade 3 on me he could have helped>

Nice Weapon for my Ranger
# May 31 2002 at 1:55 AM Rating: Good
This was a pretty good weapon for my ranger for a very long time, I regulalry group with a warrior, bard, and a mage and in one night of camping we got one for everyone but our mage (who didn't need one of course) This is a fun camp and the gnolls give you great exp, on Inny it's rarely camped. If you a ranger and want to start taking ghouls and things that require magical weapons to kill, I'd go with the PGT, great weapon and the proc is very nice With feet like cat you don't even notice the agility drop. I gave mine away and hopefully made some young ranger happy. This was a great weapon, I wish any one luck who quests for it.

I use "Feet like Cat" compensate for the hit to Agi I take when the PGT procs. So those of you that are worried about losing Agi may consider this fixed...

Questions
# Oct 12 2001 at 12:23 PM Rating: Default
Right now I'm debating whether I should give this up for a higher damage weapon..although I am only level 9, so I should wait and at least see what the proc does..yeah I'll do that. More importantly, I want to see if it works with yaulp, because the AC bonus that spell gives kicks *****
RE: Questions
# Oct 12 2001 at 12:53 PM Rating: Decent
It does work with Yaulp. Keep in mind that I speculate this, because my ranger uses the PGT and a Screaming Mace at the same time (Yaulp II), and they stack.

Lets remember, while it lowers agl while in effect it also gives you a HP shield, which means LESS work for your healer. Once the shield is beat off you lose the effect anyway and get your agility back. This is a wonderful lower level weapon for my warrior... I picked one up at 10th and have never regetted it yet. Anytime a multi-fight comes along where Im going to get beat on alot I pull this out and in generally procs a couple of times a fight for me.
:)
# Sep 11 2001 at 7:42 AM Rating: Default
to the warrior complaining about the druid only healing half a bub of your hp , druids get more than one heal spell , and depending on area wont have the highest heal spell on spell slot * i normaly bung a low lev heal in slot when in lower lev areas , instead of a 50+ heal spell * , , so maybe the druid had low spell level healing spell memed at the time , :P
Strength add, Agility drop
# Sep 05 2001 at 8:46 AM Rating: Default
I have noticed that when it procs, your str goes up, but you lose agi.
I am an agi warrior. I feel that the higher agi, the less I will get hit, which makes less work for my druid partner.
You can always get a str buff. But keeping agi can be hard.
I like this weapon. For the price, you really cant beat the stats for lower levels, but dont use it simply for the proc....you will get hit more, leaving your healer with less mana after each fight.
Just my opinion.

it only lowers your agi as it procs, but then you'll also have the damage absorb shield on,so you won't loose any hp at all.and when you get hit,the proc effect drops,so you're back on your own agi. no problems about dropping agi i would think then

If you learned that from his post, it is a terible shame. The proc on this, which is an enchanter spell, btw, creates a "rune" type shield of invulnerability that absorbs damage, so you get a message something like "soandso tries to hit you, but you are invulnerable". During the time that the shield is up, you agility drops a little bit, so the shield doesn't last as long as it would otherwise. However, once the shield is gone, your agility IMMEDIATELY returns. So really, no loss. People make way too much about the agility loss on this proc.

My warrior is using this in secondary melee, and it does not stack with all strength spells. It will only overwrite lower level ones. I had strength of earth cast on me by some well-meaning passer-by, and in the next fight the proc would not stick. This applies to the shield portion, as well as the strength. It would go off, I would get the message saying it didn't take, and the mob would continue to hit normally, no magic skin. Might be worthwhile to see which strength spells do stack, and avoid the others. I would much rather have the magic skin invulnerability than higher strength at lvl 13.

this proc cancels out Strength of Earth. I have a druid friend/partner who kept SoE on me, but when my weapon procs the SoE drops and the Berzerker str is up (He wasted some mana on recasting it a while before we finally figured it out--we're slow). But I had another druid who was porting me buffed me with Storm Strength and the weapon would not proc. I love this weapon when soloing. Invulnerability is kinda, sorta, a little bit cool, since nothing I've fought has eaten the shield away yet. If your a twink with the cash, pick this one up for sure!!!

Had one of these for my old warr, it's a good offhand wep and deff worth the time to get it. I know that for my warr this was one of the best offhanders ( hada wyrm) deff works well, can't get hert (when it procs) and ya deal mad dmg i hit for crt low 50s high 60 with this, hope it works well for my ranger.
Complementary item
# Aug 06 2001 at 6:24 AM Rating: Default
If you had a wurmslayer, what would be the ideal secondary slot item; a shield? or a PGT. For a lvl 30 ranger this is.
#REDACTED, Posted: Aug 26 2001 at 12:39 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) a shield over the PGT, it may be a nice weapon at lower lvls but if your stupid enough to use this at lvl 30 you should seriously think about your EQ career.

Does it amuse you to rag on other people? Did it occur to you that maybe this person is brand new to the game and does not quite yet know everything?
People play this game for fun. But when others constantly put down other peoples opinions or ideas, it does not make it fun anymore.
If he likes the Tomahawk, let him use it.
Maybe he does not have the money to buy new weapons. Hell, I remember my Druid was strapped for money for the first 30 levels. Since I did not have the Paw of Opolla at 35 make me a stupid person? No...(in fact, I chose the Cone of Mystics over the Paw)
Does this person wanting to use a Tomahawk at level 30 make him a stupid person? No.
Think about others for a change. Constructive criticism is fine, but dont call other people stupid. I see it too much and it really bothers me.

How hard does it hit for?
# Jul 30 2001 at 12:57 AM Rating: Default
I was just wondering how hard it hits for. I'm lvl 10 and have 95 str. if that helps. And the spell procs at lvl 10 right?
Stacks
# Jul 27 2001 at 4:50 PM Rating: Decent
Yes, it is stackable (with item buffs, I'm not sure about casted gains to strength). My Ranger has 81 strenth and when the proc. kicks in it jumps to 100, doh!

Be forwarned though, it doesn't do a whole lot of damage. I am a 96 1hs,95 offense, and even when it procs my highest hit was for 12 damage.

# Jul 18 2001 at 10:22 PM Rating: Default
I use the PGT for a secondary weapon. I'm a Rogue and it is very uncommon to see Rogues packin a 1hs weapon, but I LOVE it. The berserker strength is awsome. I have a 1hs of around 5 and Im hittin for 8ish every time. In my primary (yes, i do love piercing) is my beloved, not the greatest, but beloved, walrus tooth. I got the tooth for free as a LVL 3ish because I'm such a nice guy......actually I followed a guy that was givin out stuff free "if you could find him" until he gave out Rogue stuff. The PGT, usually sold on the Rathe for 100pp, was sold to me for 75pp, nice guy, and I plan on using it for a long time.
Pgt or 2 langseaxes?
# Jun 22 2001 at 11:18 AM Rating: Default
Ok Im new to this so forgive my ignorance. I have 2 langseaxes and I was thinking of dropping one and getting a PGT as my primary. Im a 14th war and was wondering if this was a good choice or should i stick to the two axes? Im on druzzil ro and in EC, so where how does one get one the hard way? Ive got friends who can help me camp.
RE: Pgt or 2 langseaxes?
# Jul 02 2001 at 8:20 AM Rating: Default
Drop the swords and get 2 1HS Velium Battle Axe's, they will cost you about 50pp each, if you bargin. Best weapons you dual wield until lvl 30.
yeah

I traded him a giant militia longsword(11 39)and a dwarven two handed axe(14 43)wow! those 2 weaps together are worth about 75pp! i got such a good deal! im so happy! lol =D
