I just looted one after I gated into High Pass Hold. The mob spawned on me as soon as I got there. If anyone on Maelin Starpyre wants it, send a tell to Bromen. I don't need it.

I spent the better part of 7 hours in HpH this morning (July 1st,2004). From about 12am EST to 7am EST and the only thing I seen the whole time was the Mob that drops CDS. He spawned right after I had a buddy go kill the Mucktails in EK. This may or may not be coincidence because I had that friend kill those Mucktails in EK more and didnt see any of the Mucktails in HpH after that.

I believe the spawn of the Mucktail in Highpass shortly after the Mucktails in E. Karana were killed is just a coincedence.

so when you get hit and use up the damage absorb, the buff fades right? for a warrior this would be good for a little while since when it does proc it will count as a free miss (they hit you but you absorb the blow, they lose their hit), and for a little bit it can even absorb a few blows (such as stuff that hits 14s or 18s at lower levels if you twink it). the damage output isnt great but the proc is nice for offhander if you cant find better. im currently using a crystal fiber and this would only be 2dmg lower with same delay, so offhand it owuldnt be too shabby of a weapon.

as for other classes, this is great for rangers as well as lower level paladins and shadow kngihts. its mostly useful for rangers, when it procs it will drop your agi, but who cares it will add that absorb onto you if you do gain accidental argo, which is another plus. but mostly, the free str buff is great.

good twink item, wouldnt use it past 30 though, unless i oculdnt find better. a sword that procs a DoT or lifetap would be better for holding argo, and a better ratio weapon better for classes that dont tank.

im currently 12 with a pretty decent ac. I get hit by blues for maybe 1-20 maybe at most. Id say the average is 1-8? Thats a lot of absorbsion actually. I dont know exactly how it works but Id assume it absorbs AFTER AC plays its part. The server is also PvP which would be very nice. I think I will get one. I own one on a blue server but I have outgrown it. Its awesoem for a ranger, being that we dont always take damage so well.

Ok, I've been running around by the Guard tower looking for this guy for days now. Are there any placeholders for him? And if so, who are they? I've killed every Gnoll I've seen when I'm in there. So any help with his location would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance..

Every gnoll in highpass is a placeholder. His spawn is random. I find it best to camp the path toward Highkeep, just outside of where the pacing guard stops (where you can still see the guard overpass area).

As far as I could tell, the Mucktails can spawn in place of any of the regular spawns, and if not camped by someone els,e they will all eventually run past this spot.

Thanks for the info. I'll try that the next time I'm in the area looking for the stupid tomahawk. At the rate I'm going in there, I'll have it embedded in my forhead before I know it. LOL Thank again.

Just stay camped on the left side up near the bridge by the tree. 3 or 4 gnolls pop near there and run by. Patience is a virtue!

This was a pretty good weapon for my ranger for a very long time, I regulalry group with a warrior, bard, and a mage and in one night of camping we got one for everyone but our mage (who didn't need one of course) This is a fun camp and the gnolls give you great exp, on Inny it's rarely camped. If you a ranger and want to start taking ghouls and things that require magical weapons to kill, I'd go with the PGT, great weapon and the proc is very nice With feet like cat you don't even notice the agility drop. I gave mine away and hopefully made some young ranger happy. This was a great weapon, I wish any one luck who quests for it.

Right now I'm debating whether I should give this up for a higher damage weapon..although I am only level 9, so I should wait and at least see what the proc does..yeah I'll do that. More importantly, I want to see if it works with yaulp, because the AC bonus that spell gives kicks ****.

It does work with Yaulp. Keep in mind that I speculate this, because my ranger uses the PGT and a Screaming Mace at the same time (Yaulp II), and they stack.

Lets remember, while it lowers agl while in effect it also gives you a HP shield, which means LESS work for your healer. Once the shield is beat off you lose the effect anyway and get your agility back. This is a wonderful lower level weapon for my warrior... I picked one up at 10th and have never regetted it yet. Anytime a multi-fight comes along where Im going to get beat on alot I pull this out and in generally procs a couple of times a fight for me.

to the warrior complaining about the druid only healing half a bub of your hp , druids get more than one heal spell , and depending on area wont have the highest heal spell on spell slot * i normaly bung a low lev heal in slot when in lower lev areas , instead of a 50+ heal spell * , , so maybe the druid had low spell level healing spell memed at the time , :P

I have noticed that when it procs, your str goes up, but you lose agi.
I am an agi warrior. I feel that the higher agi, the less I will get hit, which makes less work for my druid partner.
You can always get a str buff. But keeping agi can be hard.
I like this weapon. For the price, you really cant beat the stats for lower levels, but dont use it simply for the will get hit more, leaving your healer with less mana after each fight.
Just my opinion.

it only lowers your agi as it procs, but then you'll also have the damage absorb shield on,so you won't loose any hp at all.and when you get hit,the proc effect drops,so you're back on your own agi. no problems about dropping agi i would think then

If you learned that from his post, it is a terible shame. The proc on this, which is an enchanter spell, btw, creates a "rune" type shield of invulnerability that absorbs damage, so you get a message something like "soandso tries to hit you, but you are invulnerable". During the time that the shield is up, you agility drops a little bit, so the shield doesn't last as long as it would otherwise. However, once the shield is gone, your agility IMMEDIATELY returns. So really, no loss. People make way too much about the agility loss on this proc.

My warrior is using this in secondary melee, and it does not stack with all strength spells. It will only overwrite lower level ones. I had strength of earth cast on me by some well-meaning passer-by, and in the next fight the proc would not stick. This applies to the shield portion, as well as the strength. It would go off, I would get the message saying it didn't take, and the mob would continue to hit normally, no magic skin. Might be worthwhile to see which strength spells do stack, and avoid the others. I would much rather have the magic skin invulnerability than higher strength at lvl 13.

this proc cancels out Strength of Earth. I have a druid friend/partner who kept SoE on me, but when my weapon procs the SoE drops and the Berzerker str is up (He wasted some mana on recasting it a while before we finally figured it out--we're slow). But I had another druid who was porting me buffed me with Storm Strength and the weapon would not proc. I love this weapon when soloing. Invulnerability is kinda, sorta, a little bit cool, since nothing I've fought has eaten the shield away yet. If your a twink with the cash, pick this one up for sure!!!

If you had a wurmslayer, what would be the ideal secondary slot item; a shield? or a PGT. For a lvl 30 ranger this is.
#EinamdaraAradmanie, Posted: Aug 26 2001 at 12:39 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) a shield over the PGT, it may be a nice weapon at lower lvls but if your stupid enough to use this at lvl 30 you should seriously think about your EQ career.

Does it amuse you to rag on other people? Did it occur to you that maybe this person is brand new to the game and does not quite yet know everything?
People play this game for fun. But when others constantly put down other peoples opinions or ideas, it does not make it fun anymore.
If he likes the Tomahawk, let him use it.
Maybe he does not have the money to buy new weapons. ****, I remember my Druid was strapped for money for the first 30 levels. Since I did not have the Paw of Opolla at 35 make me a stupid person? No...(in fact, I chose the Cone of Mystics over the Paw)
Does this person wanting to use a Tomahawk at level 30 make him a stupid person? No.
Think about others for a change. Constructive criticism is fine, but dont call other people stupid. I see it too much and it really bothers me.

Yes, it is stackable (with item buffs, I'm not sure about casted gains to strength). My Ranger has 81 strenth and when the proc. kicks in it jumps to 100, doh!

Be forwarned though, it doesn't do a whole lot of damage. I am a 96 1hs,95 offense, and even when it procs my highest hit was for 12 damage.

I use the PGT for a secondary weapon. I'm a Rogue and it is very uncommon to see Rogues packin a 1hs weapon, but I LOVE it. The berserker strength is awsome. I have a 1hs of around 5 and Im hittin for 8ish every time. In my primary (yes, i do love piercing) is my beloved, not the greatest, but beloved, walrus tooth. I got the tooth for free as a LVL 3ish because I'm such a nice guy......actually I followed a guy that was givin out stuff free "if you could find him" until he gave out Rogue stuff. The PGT, usually sold on the Rathe for 100pp, was sold to me for 75pp, nice guy, and I plan on using it for a long time.

I was practically given this when i bought a lot of banded at my low lvl range, kinda as an incentive to buy more, only charged me 10pp ,after I bought ALOT of banded from him, for it but it saved my life more times than I can count....
I forgot your name whomever you were that gave it to me but I do owe you....
Picture a lvl 10 warrior walking around in NK, with a shiny brass shield and a PGT.... Both of which he bought, though cheaply, still bought...
I still have it today as I appoch 30.. Many say I should trade it for a higher ratio as some mobs hit hard enough to take down the shield in one hit, but when they take it down they dont hit me fully.... Case in point a mob normally hits me every time around 85-90... PGT procs, next hit is 10 and proc is gone.... Can still can save your life if your healer decides to cast a longer cast time heal spell or you just got the mob peeled....
I want to replace it but I still want the Shield proc or one like it as a just in case deal, but I might be sol on that one... any one got a berserkers sword.... =)

I keep trying to force the spawn for the PGT by killing Grenix (and every other gnoll) in EK. He dosn't seem to spawn when I do kill him. Does anyone know if there is another step to it? Or how long the spawn time is after you kill him in EK?
I have also noticed that you can get multible spawns of any of the named gnolls in EK. Does the spot that Grenix spawn in matter for having him spawn in HH when you kill him?

I use this in my offhand while using a Screaming Mace in my primary hand...when both procs go off, its about a 35pt increase in STR. The effect sometimes overwrites the icon for the other str proc, but both can be in effect at the same time. Very cool to have both procs goin at the same time!

The PGT is NOT no drop. I just got one last night. My l17 cleric and one tank/hybrid don't remember classs were teamed for regular gnolls when grenix aggroed on us. Killed him OOm and both low hp, when a gnoll soothsayer took out the other after he looted the PGT. He was nice enough to return across kith and roll for it. Didn't ninja loot, which he could have. It's nice and definitely NOT NODROP as he handed it to me after I won the roll.

btw if you are wondering what a cleric is doing rolling on slashing weapons, this is my very first chance to twink my l11 warrior, who will be very happy to put this weap in secondary when he hits 13.

After sveral months of camping this item (level 18-21) I finally figured out the spawn. The named gnolls in HH double the named gnolls in EK. The regular spawn for the named gnoll is in EK for both the PGT and the CDS. In order for then to spawn in HH they have to be killed in EK first. Have some friends keep the EK camp cleared and they will spawn in HH within approx. 15-20 minutes. The reason this took so long to figure out is that the other mobs in EK will fight and kill the gnolls (and vice-versa) so it made it appear like there was a place holder or a long spawn time. Hope this helps, BTW I still carry mine at 24th as my main 1hd slash to go with my CDS, with all the time I spent to get them I just can't let them go.

Ok...this weapon is a 6/26 1hs Lore. Procs Beserker Strength (about a 20 pt raise to strength, while dropping some agility, also adds about 30-80 points of invulnerability) As with all procs, mostly determined by dex. My 19 Ranger is dual wielding this, and a Silvery War Axe (6/22 magic). This proc overrides/cancels any STR buff that has been cast on you, but with my ranger, the weapon proc'd often enough that I tell people in my groups not to waste the mana to cast STR buffs on me. In my opinion, this weapon is worth it as a mid-teen lvl to get. I've gotten so used to the proc, I'm not sure what I'm going to do when I eventually move on to something better. :)

# Aug 06 2001 at 8:58 AM Rating: Decent
i recently was given this weapon by a friend to replace my non-magic whip. I dual wield a whip of strangulation in primary and the PGT in secondary.

the PGT consistently overrides the strength buffs that i've recevied from shamen. not sure about other classes buffs, but the shamen spells won't stack with berzerker strength.

The proc DOES NOT override all STR buffs. I use Siphon Str with this weapon (my SK) and my STR is as follows:

Base: 92
w/Siphon STR only: 102
w/Siphon STR & PGT Proc: 118

So I get 16 STR bonus with the proc and Siphon Str intact. Haven't tried it w/o Siphon though.
PGT is worth it!

Be sure to get help at a low lvl and don't let them run too far. The guards will kill them and you could lose the weapon. Then its back to waiting for another 8 hours or so for another pop and cross your finger the right named one pops or else it's more waiting. :) Good Hunting and Good Luck.

Shaman can use?

The information here says a Shaman can use it but I think that the one my Ranger is using doesn't list it to be used by a Shaman. Does anyone have any further info on this?

No, a shammie cannot equip this. Made that mistake after reading online that I could, bought one and it came up "your race, class or diety cannot equip." Please don't make the same mistake! =)

I played my Ranger again and his PGT doesn't say it's can be used by a Shaman. The pic here must be incorrect.

Actually this is probally a pic of when the item was either in beta or very early in the game. First though shamans cant use 1hs because they cant recieve points to put in 1hs. So even if they could equipt one of these, they wouldnt be able to hit with it:(
Verant has it problems-from time to time:)( also this pic could be a fake-though I doubt it)

Is this item lore or not? The description says it is, though the picture doesn't say anything about it.

The PGT offers a dmg shield and a significant str buff (+20), but it debuffs agility by -15. To me the 6 dmg 26 dly is nothing special. Also, I've noticed that when my agility goes down (like when I'm encumbered or otherwise debuffed) so does my life expectancy. I'm a lvl 15 ranger and was first planning on obtaining a PGT, but now I am not so sure... Opinions? Perhaps another method of obtaining a good str buff?

You WILL want this! The proc not only has a strength buff, but you also become Invulerable! Ive been wanting it for a while now, but just havent had enough money, and believe me, I want it ALOT. Ive seen it in action, i know what it does, GET IT!! )

Umm, I don't know who fed you that line, but it doesn't make you invulnerable...I have one, I know...Its a NICE weapon...but not a GREAT one...I'm still planning to switch back to my Staff of Writhing once i hit 29...
RE: Is it really worth it?
# Mar 26 2001 at 10:57 AM Rating: Default
It does make you invulerable for a short period of time against melee. Spells still hit you. All 4 of my chars have camped this and have one.
RE: Is it really worth it?
# Mar 29 2001 at 2:11 PM Rating: Default
Yes it does give you a shield type buff that is magical skin and things can not hit you. Your magical skin absorbs the blow. :)

The agility debuff only makes you get hit slightly more often. Since it only lasts until the spell wears off, the only purpose it serves is to shorten the duration of the spell. (you get hit more often, so the 50 points of invulnerability wear off sooner). Makes no difference in the long run.

The problems with it come in your mid-to-upper 20's in level. There start to be better weapons available to you damage/delay-wise, and the Mobs start to hit for around 50 per hit, so the spell duration becomes about two seconds. At that point, you auction it off to someone in the 10-15 level range. :)

YES, It is really worth it. At lvl 15 as a Ranger you get the spell feet like cat, which MORE than compensates for the debuff. I have had it proc 3 or 4 times average in a battle with yellows. 200pt free hits, really helps! Go for this with a Silvery war axe or SSOM with Dual Wield. Great Combo

I just recently picked up a PGT myself and I have no complaints at all. When the proc goes off and the damage shield keeps you from being hit, I use that time to root whatever i'm fighting and back off to either fire arrows at it or Flame Bursts and repeat if/when the mob gets free. I can't wait for dual wield (I'm only 16lvl) but for now, this tactic with this weapon has worked great and has taken the agility debuff more or less out of the equation. Of course, the down side is the proc is still there when the mob gets free but if you stick to fighting blues n' blacks(at most), you should be fine.

Of course, this tactic also takes the str buff out of the equation since you are firing arrows or casting spells.

ok first of all i just bought one and it has 26 dly, it procs at lvl 11. to me i have 89 str normally and when it procs i get up to 102 str. i'm not sure on agilty buff and no matter for me, when i buff myself i have 135 agility. it does give a small dmg shield great in those tight spots. good duel wield weapon.
