This thing procs like crazy, I have a 65 Paladin w/WA2 and the proc is *always* on me during fights, regardless of how big or how hard the mobs are hitting for, even in elemental. A good choice if you're a tank! Pair this with a Rune weapon like a SEWS or a BBB and you have a tank's dream weapon.
One question... does Guard 1,2 & 3 stack? Say you have two weapons, one with guard2 and one with guard3.... can both proc and essentially stack to offer 10% melee mitigation and a total of 250 (100/150) damage?
Just posting in case anyone doesn't understand what this does.
This procs (just like any other proc) and puts up a buff (which takes up one of your 15 slots.) The buff absorbs 5% of melee damage, increases base Damage mitigation (which yes does stack with AAs and does not work in inversed fashion like Haste, so theoretically you could get 100% Damage Mitigation but they'll never let that happen.)
So this cuts off a % of incomming hits and the amount cut off by the damage is set against your 150 points on the buff. That means say your taking 300 point hits, it will cut off 15 damage, and hit your 150 points with that 15.
This is quite crappy IMHO, for one reason and one reason only. The buff takes up a slot on your 15 Buffs... Basically when tanking I can't even spare a slot for the Cleric's Vie line, which is like a MUCH better version of this. The Mitigation does make a difference, but most of the time not noticably, and when you do need the mitigation, it will soak up 150 damage in 2 seconds making this relatively pointless.
In the end, this proc just eats up 150 damage, thats all, its not even a good kind of 150 because you still are taking damage, it would be a better choice to just get 75point LT.
actualy tzsjynx its so far from useless its not funny ... mine goes off every 15 seconds bair minimum with 0! WA ... and sence getting this augment i steal agro when i try to assist and not tank from peeps constantly ya if your going against a GoD raid mob the buff isnt gonna do much for ya but sence a GOOD TANK like me for enstance if i can chose my buffs i would only be useing 9 slots to be fully hp'd throw in pred and rath from a ranger and thats 11 full hp ac right there (already figured in FA from shaman) so ya got max hp ac atk with only 11 slots anyway augment isnt useless put it on a anger weapon for war or any weapon really and never even think of loseing agro if ya wanted to
This isn't useless. If you have WA5, this will be proccing like crazy, even if you have it in your secondary slot (assuming you use one-handers).
Also, with regards to the spell slots, not only will that problem most likely be relieved with a few maxed stats (you can click off a couple shaman buffs), but SoE has also said they will eventually allow us to increase our maximum buff slots. I'm not sure how, but I have read they will let us spend AA points to increase it.
In the end, this is 150hp you won't have to take, every time it procs. For a tank who doesn't have problems with aggro... it's certainly not useless.
If you want this effect get the Black diamond of absorbtion same effect but only 760 AP from BB. This effect doesnt seem like much and I am not sure if a buff slot is used or not but if it doesnt and you can proc it a lot wouldnt be to bad.
It seems to absorb five (5) percent of all incoming melee hits, until it has absorbed about 150 damage. So it's kind of a Rune. Duration is five (5) minutes.
I'm not sure if this absorbs 150 max per encounter, or, if it absorbs a 150 max per strike in combat when the 'roll' has been successful for the proc.....anyone who knows for sure, please take a second and post. TY!
rune spells absorb up to a set amount of damage. so does this. only difference rune blocks all of an attack (up to its limit) on each hit, this one absorbs only 5% of the incomoing melee per hit. hopefully the tank procs repeatedly so that it gets refreshed frequently.
