Solist's Icy Wand  

 

Uhm if this is listed as a LORE Item, I thought you cannot sell it or is that NO DROP?

Shock of Ice was recently changed from 38 DD to a 58 DD, the change included this wand. This wand is a must for any twinks! Great toy later on as well.

Yes it still drops, although rare might be a bit optimistic. I patrolled the areas mentioned below for DAYS without any luck, then one night just before bed decided to check again and third Excavator coughed it up. Downstairs lower level is where I got mine. 38 Damage no mana drop and I am a Lvl 16 Wizard, I am loving it!!! Oh and as far as selling it.... Dont even bother asking, this thing will sit with me a very long time.

does this thing still drop?
I have killed 1000+ of these little bastards and I cant seem to get it ... I pull the whole lower lvl and kill them in 1 AE and then spend the rest of the respawn time looting them. The loot is all crap and I am waiting for that one time when i get to say WEEEE i got the wand that I have been looking for since lvl 16 :P
Another question... I am 52 now, will this even hit lvl 40 - 50 mobs. I wanted this to kill off the quad mobs that resist once and are the last standing, so i dont use mana killing that last one... will this work, or is this just going to me bank loot that i worked my ass off to get? I realize that it only hits for 38 and i will have to cast it a few times to even dent a mob, but i have this sinking feeling that they will brush it off... let me know... thanks

still drops in kruns in the lower level of the basement .. got one to night 9/5/03 ...

Does it drop more off of the Kurns Tower Excavators or the FOB one, or is it the same

I spent 5hrs tonight Killing those lil Fat B@st@rds (437 of the Excavators and excavators to be Exact) and not 1 wand drop, and i think I killed about 180 Sumthin of the Lesser Icebones and Nada, is this item Really that Rare?

This item must be equiped in primary or secondary slot to be used and has a 5 second cast time.

what exactly does this wand do? how much damage?

i had been lvling in kurns for a day or two, and i died. when i was running back i saw this dead excavator so i decided i might as well loot it. The excavator had the wand on it. Someone missed out big.

was in kurn's the last few nights killing E's and lessers for atleast 5 hours and several others where killing everything to get the jester to spawn, but nothing dropped the wand. i was curious if it drops in the tunnels or the jester area? and if the dang thing even drops in the game anymore!!

One month ago I found two within 30 minutes (two separate occasions). Now I have killed millions of the "E"xcavators over at least 8 hours of game time and nada.

Does this still drop?

Although it supposedly drops from Lesser Icebone Skeletons, I didn't see a wand drop off them and I accumulated more than 8 stacks of bone chips from beating them up. Camp in the room north of where the Jester spawns, kill the spawn in there (it's a lesser icebone about 1/3 of the time) and all the spawns in nearby room as well as the area where the Forager wanders (as marked on EQatlas's map). That's the best place I've seen for Lesser icebones. For a wiz, almost everything in here (except Lesser Ice/Charbone and burynai Sappers) dies to the lv39 Lightning shock. Go nuts wandering the halls killing the capital-E Excavators after you kill everything near the jester area. I eventually got the wand (after 4 days camping here) off an Excavator sort-of near the stairs to the main level. At lv49, Sappers agro on me, as will all undead if I don't have invis undead up. Supposedly, Lesser Icebones that have the wand on them will be holding it when they are standing around. The Excavators do NOT ever look like they're holding anything, even when they are. The one that dropped the wand did not have it visibly equipped, it was just in inventory (icon looks like a Weeping wand, small bluish-grey).

Wand is NOT insta-click. 5 second cast time, must be equipped to use. It's not boosted by any Improved Damage items or Spell Haste items that I can tell.

If the drop rate has been increased, I can't tell. I easily killed a few hundred Excavators and just as many Lesser Icebones over 4 days before it dropped.

FYI, it's the only unlimited-charge DD item usable by wizards until lv51 (when you can get the Thurg/Kael/Skyshrine quest robe). It drastically boosts a wizard's damage output at any level after 12, turning all your unused time into Nuking time. Also handy for finishing off a running mob instead of wasting a nuke on them.

well I got mine off a Excavator with a "E" and NOT a "e" and the cast time was 5 seconds. FYI - Anyone ro server

i am thinking they nerfed this wand. it seemed very useful from what i had heard about it, and i went to kurns and picked one up today. after using i see: there is no recast time BUT.. cast time is like 6 seconds maybe more!! it is MASSIVE cast time. it can't be cast while casting other spells either. also, it must be equipped to be used. does anyone have one from a long time ago that works differently? such as, cast instantly but then has recast time?

Anyone know what the casting time and recasting time on this wand is?

I was power-leveled *WAY* past my skill level before I knew what my friends were doing. I was given the Wand, but no one told me What to do with it, or how to activate it. It fits nicely in my Secondary slot...Any advice would be beneficial.

This item may seem pretty worthless at higher levels, but lets say you wanted to start a twink wizard because your a 50something melee type and just wanted a change. With no mana use and 38pts DD I think you would find this is one of the easiest ways to fly solo through the first few levels when being a wizard is diffcult to say the least.

man i have never even seen a burynai drop this and i am in kurns everday is there some special hallway u need to hunt in to get it
