The hands on the shield are the hands that are on the walls of VT. A lore link possibly?

unlikely, if anything were lore related, it would be the shield from PoTime that the graphic of this one is a copy of. but I think they just thought the Vex Thal hands looked cool. I think sometimes SOE thinks players won't notice when they recycle their content, like putting VT hands on a shield in this case
