LAME

Priests get the SHAFT on this one.

Like others said, your shawl will replace this in a heartbeat.

ON THE OTHER HAND, caster classes get a NECK item with FT2... so they can use it in addition to shawl... easy FT5 right there (if you consider shawl easy)... LAME.

EDIT: Oh, and no one should wear this, unless temporarily, because there are only two scenarios here:
A) Your guild will not be seeing VT/Elemental/Time gear any time soon, so you do the shawl, one of the better pre-VT/Ele/Time shoulder pieces, and the ONLY pre-time item with 20% buff extension (FT3 doesn't hurt either folks)
B) Your guild sees VT/Elemental/Time regularly and you can get something MUCH better than this, even if you just aug it with FT2.

If you fall under scenario A, like me, DO YOUR SHAWL, you're doing yourself a favor.

When people say this it really shows how stupid they are. Throw that aug on this and you have urself a ft4 shoulder item, much better than a ft2 one.

Considering that everything needed for the quest is droppable, this gives you an *instant* alternative to the shawl. Granted, the shawl, in most regards is a superior item, but takes lots of time. Besides that, most who have done the shawl on their main don't want to go through it again for an alt.

This is a solid piece of gear for anyone not willing to put forth the effort for the shawl.

Just my 2cp. Flame away.
#REDACTED, Posted: Aug 20 2004 at 1:40 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) ?? Get a clue. Shawl is inferior for Clerics to this beauty.

How is Mana Regen 3 and 20% extended buffs inferior to this?

Thank you all for the debate on who should wear this or not.

Now...How about posting USEFULL information? Thread after thread is filled with USELESS info and pointless posts about WHO should get said item, and prescious little info about WHERE, WHO, WHAT and other HELPFULL tips.

For crissakes...STOP WHINING! Shuttfu and use this board for what it is intended for.

this VS coldain prayer shawl
# Jan 11 2004 at 11:55 AM Rating: Good
hi everyone
just thought i would put my 2cps in since i have the 8th shawl. it took me about 6 months PLAYING time, a year totall, price off being in millitary, to do the 8ths shawl quest for my druid. if i would have known that this item exsisted before getting to number 6 i would have went for this at that time. this item does have nice resists HPs stam and mana along with the wis. i would have to say that the only thing the 8th shawl gives over this besides being all all is the 20 percent exstention on all benificial buffs. this is a good piece off gear for wis casters that are not in a large guild, im not in such a guild probly wy it took me so long for 8ths shawl, anyways FT2 isnt bad condsidering you can only have a total off 15 mana regen per tick from FT items and there are some nice gear out there from LDON and the FT2 augs wich you can get 15 in no time at all at the hiegher lvls. so in all my ramballing YES this is good for a WIS caster and as some one who also plays a INTEL caster im still looking for that FT item no im not doing the shawl over for all my caster aults being i got 2 acounts. and as for doing the shawl well look at it this way you get your trade skills up to where you need them then go get some AAs and do the PHYLACTERY WILL GET YOU NOWHERE quest and for the intell casters theres a nice robe and for wis nice tunic also GOOD luck if you want to do 8ths shawl send GOOLIE a tell on INNY server will be glad to give you some pointers

shoulders?

My only problem with this is that int casters can quest a neck item with FT2 in this same line of quests, and still wear the 8th shawl. Why do wis casters have to choose between the 2 or just disregard this quest completely for the better shawl? This quest item could've been in many other slots with those same stats, and even had the wis dropped like the casters neck with no int.

OMG! Please quit complaining. Just pick which one you'd rather have and be happy with it. That's like complaining that there are 2 good head items. Not everyone will want to put forth all the time and effort of doing the prayer shawl quest and this is a good alternative for them. Next thing you'll see are INT caster's upset because there's we can't get a shoulder item with good FT without doing the coldain quests.

The original poster has a very vaild point, whereas your analogy does not quite fit. I am sure the first poster would not have complained if INT casters had that FT quest fit in the shoulder slot, thus making them have to choose as well. In this case, Sony did not evenly distribute the quest listing among all classes.

I would have to agree with the first post. Seems like shamans get numerous nice items that all go in the smae slots, and total garbage for the rest excluding high end gear of course. Hard for me to find upgrades (short of spending 20k+ a spot) now even though i would classify some of my equipment as cheap bazaar crap.
#REDACTED, Posted: Dec 17 2003 at 3:13 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) OMG you guys whining about fairness give me a break. Don't do the freaking quest. My cleric is gonna love the FT2 shawls sicne it took me 5 mins.
RE: shoulders?
# Jan 16 2004 at 12:51 PM Rating: Default
I call bs on that one. 5 mins eh? Seeing as the drop rare on the fetishes is about 1 in 100+ (estimate of course), this quest is anything but simple. To complete this quest, I had to hunt down there exclusively for about 3 months to get all the drops. Granted my playing time was a little limited, maybe 2 hours a day or so. But regardless, the time it takes to get this shawl almost makes it more worth your while to get the coldain. You could get that in the same time, and get the good focus with it. So for people who are "whining", they have a very valid point. Any argument to that is pretty much just foolish.

people sell the fetish and staff all the time in the baz. so i think its very possible to do this quest in 5 min.

as far as talking about fair your being rather silly because the two quests your talking about are available in 2 different expansions. if you look around there are hundreds of quests that give similar end result quest items that are only equipable in the same slot. the only way to fix this is to make every good item go into any slot so that youll never have to make that descision. although, eventualy someone will have all his slots full and complain about having to get rid of one of his items because he doesnt have anymore available slots.

i did the 5 month shawl quest and i am so happy to see that SoE put ina quest that can be done without having to make my fellow questers suffer through the 9 million clicks it took me to work my skillz up for a chance at making the shawl.

How about getting a dictionary and learning to spell? Also, there is the option of going to school and finishing your education from grade 3-12. Give us all a break and stop with the slang and infantile grammar.

This'll do, until i can raise the fourty catrillion dollars to master all the trades i need for a blessed coldain prayer shawl :)

I agree with Tombas, I don't forsee myself obtaining my prayer shawl anytime soon, but as for this.. it's time to rally the guild and go "exact some revenge" :)
Priest Class only?
# Sep 10 2003 at 1:49 PM Rating: Decent
Does this mean that only a priest class should do this quest?
I would assume that a slightly different item would be given to a warrior who completed such a high level quest. Is this a bad assumption?

Maybe, I am wrong, seeing as Sir Soban Everbash does not appear to be of a priest class. But, maybe, he posted for a friend, who completed the quest with his assistance.

Or maybe he did the turnins not knowing the reward.

Which is unfortunate... Both for any folks he knows who could have benefited from an FT2 shoulder, and for himself, because he didn't get anything he could have personally used.

Either way, Sir Soban Everbash, we thank you for your sacrifice.
