With the 9 spells now...
# Oct 03 2004 at 10:50 PM Rating: Decent
With the advent of the 9th spell slot, does the stats on this go up or, do they just scale different now?

I just don't see them leaving it so you can leave one spell and have the max stats. Still outside of TS'ing where you don't need the spells I still think it's a useless charm.

The Mercenary also drops a charm (I forget what it's called).
It has no stats to begin with, but the stats appear & increase as you carry more pp.
Now, you need 1000's of pp to get max benefit from the charm, making it virtually impossible to move faster than a cripple with no legs.
My take on most of the charms dropped in Torg, is that some verant programmer is having a HUGE laugh at our expense. Guess they enjoy ******* us around with the occassional booby prize from a long camped named mob.
no bonuses for pure melee

quoted from kwikcuffs at the bottom of the page, "I am a 65 warrior, therefor no spells memmed, it gives me NO bonus whatsoever."

sorry to all you pure melees who want the free 4 stamina, it just wont work =\
mana?? Int?? WIs??
# Sep 04 2003 at 12:50 PM Rating: Decent
LOL, this has mana, int, and wis. Without the spells memmed that you need these items. This would only be good for tradeskills, and the mana is so small, that it is pointless, because you don't have the spells memmed to use the mana with....

On the other hand, if you are a level 30 necro sitting in a group, you need to have a dot or two (one of which will be a snare) up at all times. Other than that, you can mem your mana and pet-buff spells when needed (a bit of a lead time on pet buffs, but it's not too bad). You can empty your "emergency" slot(s) if you trust your group or are close to a zone.

That means you can reasonably get away with 2 spells, and you're still contributing massively to dps (due to your pet and dots).

This doesn't seem like a useful item for the high-end, since most of the single-spell classes (e.g. wizards can go to a raid with 2 spells -- nuke and evac, and they're still useful) will use massive amounts of mana, and even as drops in the bucket go, this one is pretty small.

On the other hand, that's 10 mana you didn't have before the charm slot opened up... and if you NEED that extra 10, then you need it.

At 30th level, a Necromancer would want FD, HS, Darkness, Pet buff, and DOTs (Notice that I said DOTs as in plural) memorized. I think I can speak for all casters when I say that 8 is not enough as far as spell slots go. I don't think a caster would ever have fewer than 8 spells memorize while camping anything, unless they were low level and didn't have enough money to purchase all their spells. This charm is either junk or for non-casters.
jeez..

seriously does anyone want this charm? i know if i was using it ( i play wizzy necro and bard ) it would have zero stats, i wish i had more spell gems lol 8 isnt enough for me so theres no way im sacrificing even one of my spells/songs for a few stat points.....this is useless for anone with a mana bar in my opinon, if you have a use for this besided for a monk or warrior please tell me hehe ,

We just got this to drop last night from this guy, and with no spells memmed it has 16 stamina 10 dex 12 int 12 wis and 40 hps. And yes it does work on pure melee. It was equipped on a rogue.

it has no value to pure melees i just figured this out, and still hybrids want spells memmed, if they dont use spells they might as well have been warriors....plus at lvl 51 you can get the intricate wooden figurine or other charms actually worth getting, the guy that drops this is lvl 58 for christ sakes.....if anyone here honestly thinks sacrificing spells memmed for 4 stamina and stats that are useless unless youre using spells anyway ( or doing tradeskills ) then please reply and tell me why i just dont understand why verant put this in here
#REDACTED, Posted: Sep 04 2003 at 8:59 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I think this charm was ment for rangers/sk/pallies. They could easily get away with no spells memmed in a group situation. I've rarely cast spells while grouping (maybe snare or lifetap) and rarely seen other hybrids cast much in a decent group that has enough pure casters.

"I think this charm was ment for rangers/sk/pallies. They could easily get away with no spells memmed in a group situation"

Are you nuts??? Hybreds always need spells memmed, and usually all of them. Why would any group allow a ranger to stay that didn't keep snare memmed? How about a Pali that couldn't stun or heal in a pitch? I'm an SK and I'll tell you very pointedly I have about 12 spells I should always have memmed (try telling the Cleric that you won't pump him with mana during a fight).

The more pure casters in the group, the more I have to cast, especially if I'm the tank to keep agro off the weaker casters (HP wise). If you are not casting spells all you become is a very gimped warrior in terms of value to a group.

Agree : as ranger, i dont even think "group" without at least snare, tangling weeds (lightning cast aggro grabber)and a jolt loaded...aggro control...
#REDACTED, Posted: Sep 04 2003 at 1:40 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Actually he has a point. You're only mentioning 1 or 2 spells per hybrid class, and there have been lots of times in a group with my ranger that snare is all I've cast for hours at a time. So keep one or two mem'd, try to go without that awesome Firefist self-buff (I know, it's tough), and get yourself a whopping extra 2 wis. Charms rock.

It's seems odd but think about this there are three classes that never mem spells and since charms are not that common yet it is something to start off with never know when you may want that Wis or Int to increase your defense.
RE: jeez..
# Sep 04 2003 at 8:28 PM Rating: Decent
were you being sarcastic? i have never heard of int or wis raising your defense.....
RE: jeez..
# Sep 04 2003 at 2:46 PM Rating: Default
I take it you mean Rogue Monk and Warrior. Although charms are hard to come by, there are many others that you can get if you really want one. This would only be good for that 4 stamina really, so If I saw one I'd just let a hybrid get it. Oh well, just my thoughts. And where did you get the idea wis/int raise your defence?

If this truely is all/all like it says, then I would use it on my monk... 0 spells memorized, 4 free sta (and wisdom to help the tradeskilling). That has to be wrong though, correct? That is until I actually find a charm. I've hunted countless hours in all LoY zones except the boat, and I've only seen two charms, one I lost roll, one I wasn't on the user list. =p

I wouldn't go out of my way to get one, but I might use it if I had it. In an xp group, I typically use two nukes and maybe a snare. That's all I really need to have memmed, and on a raid even less. If the stats are decent with only 2-3 spells, it might be useful.

quite possibly the worst idea ever.

unless it works for pure melees, then it would be useful with the 4 sta.

Unless that listing is wrong, it says all classes. I know my warrior currently has ZERO spells memmed, and its not likely to change any time soon.

Not super stats, but more than I would get from the PoP charm, with no flags on him atm, therefore a statless hunk of wood to put in charm slot :D .

I was first person on quellious server to get a charm the night LoY went live, and it just happened to be this charm. I am a 65 warrior, therefor no spells memmed, it gives me NO bonus whatsoever. Only thing I used it for was to hold corpse for rez later, since I could care less if i lost it. Had the great satisfaction of destroying it when we all got our intricate wooden figurine charms.

Well, that just about makes it worthless then. As posted above, perhaps certain hybrids could get by with only 2 or 3 spells memmed, but that sure isn't much of a stat boost for all that trouble.

Most of the others, seem to have at least a few classes they would be good for. The illusion charm is especially nice. This one is definitely the worst I have seen to date. Heck, even the juggler one isn't too bad, for a monk.
