Spawn timer, Place holders.

I have been killing the Gylton/Entalon spawn cycle for sometime but have come up empty after 20+ hours total. Since then, I have moved onto Nekenezna and Phurzikon. Here is what I found:

These are definite place holders:

wurm (the least frequent for me)
ember hornet
forest giant verdant
forest giant ancient
moldering gorilla
tattering gorilla
sarnak zealot (these were most common so far)
sarnak avenger
sarnak champion
greater war boned skeleton
greater plague skeleton
scoriae hornet

Once I found the place holder, it is very simple. -450, -2550. I have killed Nek/Phurz about 10 times so far and no embers, only guts for the Bard epic.

Spawn time is 78 seconds per mob... just like the Quillmane cycle!!!

Update: The spawn cycle seems to vary from the 78 seconds, + or - a few seconds every now and then.

A group of us found the place holder and it took us approximately 20-30 Nekenezna and Phurzikon kills before they dropped.

I camped Gylton and his PH Entalon for about 6 hours total... no drop. So, i went to Nezekezena, killed everything near the loc -450, -2550. once u identify the PH watch carefully bcause they spawn quite quickly, about every 3-5 mins if that.Took about 30 mins to get him to spawn, only the funny thing was he didnt spawn at that loc when he had my embers. he spawned about 300 ft north of the loc through the trees i saw a wurm glowing, i have confirmed that he only glows when he is carrying the embers, so i targeted it. It was him... i engaged... nuked to pull thinking it would b easy... bad idea. he has alot more hp than u think and nukes for about 700-900 dmg about every 12 secs or so. luckily i had Cele health IXs on me at lvl 61. i had 4.5k hp and he almost killed me with the potion going even. then he immediately repopped at the PH loc upon hitting the ground so i repulled and let pet tank this time. much easier. let the pet tnk if u r soloing lol thats what he is there for. anyway when i fifnished killing this pop he dropped the Guts for bard epic. im sure i just got lucky but the second spawn was not glowing. if u ever c a glowing wurm kill it, it may have the embers. anyway i hope this is helpful.

Pain in the butt

I had no trouble finding the PH's for the named wurms, it took maybe 20 mins to find. Takes about 20 mins on adverage to get one of the named wurms to spawn. Only once in 6 hours have I had 2 names spawn back to back. After about 10-15 named kills I still dont have Burning embers ... Guts drop almost every kill though
Got them on first kill

I found the spot 10 mins ago, killed everything around it, a minute + later got the ph pop right on the -450 -2550 spot. next spawn was Phurzikon and he did'nt have the glow but when I killed him he had my embers. I've been dreading this camp for a while now because of all the long camps everyone had. I'm just glad I couldnt sleep at 6:30 in the morning lol
Soloed at 52
# Sep 15 2005 at 4:14 PM Rating: Decent
I soloed mob at 52, yes he does summon but it is definately possible if not even easy...
I charmed a skele and put it on him. Then i sang the selo 2 1/2 min song. Then run circles around him..wide though cuz his melee range is crazy. Was /melody largo/poison/disease/ice/fire and when he summons just run away keep circling. when your charm breaks recharm skele or whatever and put it back on him. Had the thunderous karana drums up so i was slowing him and doing 75/75/75/75 dmg to him plus the skele beating on him. I used one heal over time potion when i got to 30% health. I had virt on. He dropped my bard epic guts piece as his drop. Took about 30 min total for him to spawn. I went into the zone to see two of the phurizen or whatever wurms up at the same time, i killed both of them and about five yard trash and he came on track. Was very lucky but just wanted to let bards know that with virt/ 2 heal over time potions / and skill you can DEFINATELY solo him at 52.

not heal me the war my bad
Gylton still drops them!
# Sep 28 2004 at 8:24 AM Rating: Decent
Just got Gylton to drop the embers for me! I did not notice the tell-tale glow on Gylton that has been talked about, but I killed him during the day. If you are soloing and to low for Phuzy, then be prepared for a longgggggg wait for them to drop off of Gylton. Took me about 3 weeks of dedicated playing to get them to drop. Your mileage may vary. Good luck.
Tactics
# Jun 26 2004 at 12:26 AM Rating: Decent
I camped my burning embers the other day, without luck, and I just want to share my thoughts. Nezekezena pops much more than Phurz, and is much more difficult. Our tactic was to use Slixx (the skele guy that drops the dirt of the underfoot just a skip away from the Phurz spawn point). Bard charmed Slixx and used him to attack Nezekezena. Awesome fight =). Then you can kill Slixx and loot him and the wurm and maybe get 2 epic drops at the same time. Charms are awesome to use against this mob, just sit back and let your newfound pet die. Nezekezena casted Ice Comet, AE Snare, AE Damage, and summoned me multiple times, also he was always red to me at level 48 (I saw him about 8 times). Phurz only popped once in about 4-5 hours and I didn't notice any casting from him at all, but he fell very fast, and was yellow to me at level 48. Also you want to have a guy permanently on add watch because they can make things much more painful in this area. Me and a 65 warrior went back today to camp this item but could not find the wandering PH, bad luck I guess... Hope this helps somebody.
PITA! PITA! PITA I TELL YOU!

I've spent hours in BW and havent even seen any of the named wurms spawn! I've seen and killed some misc named wurms that are for that wurmslayer quest. But not Nezekezena or Phurzikon. I MUST be doing something wrong. Because you would think they would at LEAST spawn. Here is what I'm doing. Please let me know if there is anything I could change:

Going to loc -450 -2550 and killing everything around there that I can see. I also kill those 3 mobs in the little building off out of the way. I'm assuming he spawns in or around the clearing around the above loc. But have yet to confirm that.

Do they always spawn here? I know they wander but I run all around the zone and have never seen them.

Stupid SOE. Epic quests should challenge my skill as a Magician and NOT my patience as a game player. I actually don't mind rare drops TOO much. It's the rare spawns that get me. I don't like feeling like I'm doing NOTHING for hours on end.

If anyone has some advice, please let me know by posting here or sending me a tell in game to Iantwo. ( on the E'ci Server ) Thanks a bunches!

The exact hotspot is actually neg 470 neg 2550ish. You have to kill random trash mobs until you actually see just about any of the trash mobs spawn RIGHT ON that spot. However, you better be ready to wait your **** off. My guild went there with about 12 people, average raid level was 61. After about 35-40 mins of killing everything in sight got the cycle started. Once the cycle starts you can ignore everything but that spot. Nez and Phurz both spawn right on the same spot as phs.

Now for the bad news... maybe it was a bad streak, but we killed between 45-50 Nez's and Phurz's and got one Burning Embers drop. While killing them wasnt too taxing for a group that size... you better be prepared for some serious frustration (like almost every single piece of mage epic). It averages about 7 or 8 phs in between each Nez or Phurz spawn. However it is streaky. Sometimes they will spawn every other pop... sometimes will take upwards of 15 or so phs. For any bards reading this they drop the Red wurm gut about 66% of the time. We left guts all over the place.

One last note, someone on these boards made some post like... "I solod Nez at 52" PFFFT doubt that Mr. I tried a solo at lvl 54 with the Idea of chain petting him. Better get over that idea. As soon as I drop my pet with just a sliver of reconjure time left before my new pet summon, he summoned me lickety split, interrupting my cast. If you try to run he keeps summoning you over and over until you get lucky and he tries to nuke you. At which point if you have Run3 you can then escape his range.

This is all good information. Only things I would like to add:
Placeholders tend to be more elite mobs than what are normally walking around but can be many different things. The place holders for this exact spawn point are:
a Sarnak Zealot
A sarnak Avenger
A Sarnak Champion
Greater War Boned Skeleton
a forest giant Verdant
a forest giant Ancient
an ember hornet
a moldering gorilla
a greater plague skeleton
a wurm
......
These were everything we saw there spawn while we were killing them for about 3 hours. I think we had about 20 or so Nezz spawns and maybe 10-15 Phurzi spawns. Dropped the gut VERY frequently and a couple of wurm scale coats (ID2 cloak).
Hope this helps... the spawn point given in the post above is correct and I agree with him on everything else.

How to get this item
Follow this and you will get it. I have been camping there for long hour this is what I have found. Go to Loc -480, -2547 this is where the PH spawn. If you are solo keep an eye on that spot. There are some other PH closeby but none with the same respawn rate. If you have friend make one person stay there and see when something will spawn there the other kill the roaming nearby until your PH spawn. Then the killing will start. Kill all PH the spawning time is every 2 min at this spot. Take note of how long it take to kill him cause Nezekezena will spawn only in between ( suposeing X is an hour ) X:59-X:01, X:14-X:16 X:29-X:31 and X:44-X:49, so basicly 4 time and hour. You have to make sure that he will spawn during that time. This is real time from the server BTW not EQ time. So make your calculation you will have
Nezekezena to spawn, Phurzikon will spawn from tiem to time more rarely. I did this with a 65 Beastlord and a 54 Magician. We got ember after the 11th kill.

Good luck to all.
drop off Phurzikon

I got these off of Phurzikon just yesterday. See my post under Phurzikon titled "Burning Embers drop" for the how-to.
