I can only assume that this was nerfed at some time. I am a level 80 halfling druid and still to this day (12/4/11) have my mark of karana that I got years ago. Even in the last couple months I have used it too. So I know that it stills works. I made some arrows for a fellow guildie recently. http://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/recipe.html?recipe=4281 . I guess it's an item that you had to get years ago if you don't fit the criteria for today's standard for getting it.
I am a high elf and worship karana, but am a chanter so no mark for me. Can anyone suggest alternative high trivial things to be made with common/purchased items to roll my fletching from 250 to 300?

I follow karana, i spent SEVERAL hours TSing getting my skill to where i can make that bow with the mark. then because i have never smithed with this toon, i spend 3 hours trying to make the fletching kit with no skill in it. finally, i'm succesfull and i have a shiny new kit, but guess what? HALFLINGS CANT USE THE KIT!!! not here, OR at eqtraders did it mention that halflings can NOT do this, we can do the quest, but not make the goods

This handy lil thing also is for Blessed Gale Compound Bow (Fletching) not just arrows. I agree it is not fair to other diety followers but I am Karana so lucky me.

What must I do to raise smithing to 188? These items (Mark, flask of water, Small Brick of Steel) do not combine in a forge. What am I missing?

This line of tradeskilling does not really seem fair. There is not another tradeskill in the game that requires you to be of a certain deity to use it. (Cultural Smiths can make armor for any deity that their race can make.) This was implemented to try and balance Karana/Tunare, but it didn't do it very well, all it did was give those damn halfer's another cultural tradeskill to scalp us with.
(Also, aside from fletching, with this mark, a small brick (or maybe it was a piece) of ore and a flask of water, a Karana worshipper can raise their smithing to 188. Tell me how many of you wish you could have skipped everything through Fine Plate.)

Correction, Small Brick of Steel, I was mistaken, however, with adequate CHA, that is still in the vicinity of 8pp per combine, and then it can be used to make very elite arrows as well. (and if you are into buying leather padding for skilling up smithing, 8pp is a small price to pay when padding sells for 20-25pp each in the bazaar usually.)

Yep - hes still there, my druid picked up his mark tonight. Qaelin Hailstorm was between the two trees to the left of the archery range.

I have been in and out of SF over the last few days trying to obtain the Mark of Karana. I have been disappointed every time as Qaelin Hailstorm is no where to be found. Has this item been disabled or has the NPC been moved? Is there aother NPC, say in Rivervale, that gives out this item?

What exactly can one do with this little thing? I have it but it keeps telling me I can't combine things when I put it in with other items in my fletching kit.

Hail Qaelin Hailstorm and /say "I need a Mark of Karana".
He can be found by the Archery Range in Surefall.
The Mark will be returned to you on failures and successes.
