Required: Yesgot the KEY but cant target the door to hit U .. any ideas?

To use the U key, you don't have to have anything targetted, just in the center of the screen. I don't use the U key for most things, and simply put the key on the mouse cursor and click the object with the mouse to open them.
Eventhough alot of PoP objects are hard to find the right click spot for, I don't remember having any trouble with that door.
EDIT: F8 target's nearest object.

I have the key and it wont open the door ( I tried everything - putting it on my cursor etc ) its only me and a Cleric is there a required amt of people to open the door?
did this last night getting groundspawn for my 1.5.
with the key on your cursor, and "targeting" the door--i just clicked on the door getting the "you can't drop this blah blah", type the letter "U" and hit enter--door will open if you're close enough.
just FYI, i entered the letter U w/o a slash and it worked, not sure if the slash works.

i know this is a dumb question but is this used to get to grummus? or somewhere else in PoD?
Can anyone advise if this key goes on your key ring once used?
