I am no where near this lvl, and I have not seen it, but it would seem to me you could just charm other stuff int he zone to throw at them? I personally liked the idea where 2 guards are pulled away (changing faction on main guy) and zone out.

Here goes.
All of it is pretty easy (and solo'able) except the Small Troll in Neriak. Here's how we did him though with (65 ENC, 65 BST, 65 MNK, and 58 ROG).

SoW up and Invis all the way in... and make your camp spot the area at the end of the hallway leading into Grib's room. You can see Grib from that corner.
The enchanter binds himself there.
Put up illusion Dark Elf (This will make you Indifferent to Grib but not his guards).
Cast Collaboration on Grib (This will make you Amiable to Grib but not his guards).
Buff everyone up, kill the wandering Dark Elf (forget his name but he casts damage shields), and med to full.
Get the rest of your party Invis or Feigned.
Turn your back to Grib and slowly walk back towards his room until you hear his Guards agro you. (He doesn't seem to assist his guards if you con amiable to him.)
Train the 2 guards to the zone. They don't see invis. Once you've passed your party, the beastlord should make and buff his pet.
When the trolls get to the zoneline, zone.
When you've zoned, gate back.
You now have 3-4 minutes to kill the small troll without interference from the two troll bodyguards.
He's entirely magic resistant, so my job was to chain-rune the monk.
Kill the troll, hail the spirit and Inivs/Hide/FD because the trolls are coming back :)
Walk yourself outta Neriak :)

The other part that I thought was gonna take time didn't. The Gnome Explorer. You know that pit that somebody always falls into when you're on your way to the Ghoul Arch Magus or the Ghoul Lord?
He pops down there. The frog spirit was already up when I did it, but he was right in the center of the south wall within that pit.

The final fight is super easy if you have SoW.
Hand the sword to the remains... then you can just kite the mobs that spawn. Hit each of them with tash just to get agro and kite them while the frog kills the troll. When the troll dies, the mobs following you vanish. Give him the sword again, and get the locket for the final turn-in.

Hope this helps,

Don't misquote me. I said it was all easy except the part with the troll.

But it's just like the Iksar illusion. Yes, it's a level 20 spell, but you'll have a heck of a time getting it at level 20 without help.

So I tend to think of quest spells not by the level you need to be to cast them, but by the level you need to be to attain them.

This is a quote from another caster on the FV messageboard. I agree with it completely:

---Quote---
I've never understood the common perception that just because you could theoretically scribe a spell at a certain level you are somehow entitled to it, and that the game should be constructed such that any caster, of the minimum level necessary to use a spell, should be able to acquire it. Some people extend this principle so far to claim that the same caster should be able to acquire it easily, and some will even go so far (though generally they learn before the end) as to say that they should be able to acquire it solo.

Casters rely primarily on spells, though equipment plays a larger role in the end game, admittedly. But compared to melee classes they are massively free of the need for advanced equipment. So consider casters acquiring their spells in a similar sense to melees acquiring equipment. What kind of melee wants around with the attitude that they are entitled to whatever they can use? Even the stuff with level limits on it? Ever hear of a ranger who hit level 55 and demanded to know why he couldn't get a primal velium bow, and isn't it unreasonable that EQ isn't designed to make it easy for him to get one, since he can now equip it? Well, if any ranger ever did say that, he'd be laughed at by his best friends.

Seriously, I don't mean to slam the original poster, but I think there is a fault in perception here. Just because you can use a spell at a certain level doesn't mean the game is designed to give it to you. There are any number of reasons why a spell might be usable at a level where you can't realistically acquire it under normal circumstances, just as much equipment is usable at levels where you can't realistically acquire it. Now, if you were so handicapped by what you can't get right now that it made advancing near impossible I'd sympathize, but we all know that isn't true. So put on a few more levels and then get that spell. There's nothing unfair about the system, that's just the way it works.
---End Quote---

To get to Chalex zone in from Feerrott and take the first right. Run straight until you see some wall ruins and you'll see 3 piles of bones in the area. He's one of those piles.

Found the gnome in the pit area of lower guk.

Did the troll in Neriak, just 65 ench and 65 wiz, but he is tuff...thugs are rootable. Chain runed the mage pet.

You have entered Gukta, Outpost of Marr.

[Mon Aug 11 23:46:56 2003] You say, 'Hail, Master Scribe Uklo'

Master Scribe Uklo says 'Well met Paanar! Welcome to Gukta, the Outpost of Marr -- our new home and base of operations for our fight to remove the trolls from the rest of our beautiful swamp. The liberation of Gukta was quite a battle! Many brave Froglok warriors, a good dose of [powerful magic] and the blessings of Mithaniel Marr allowed us to cleanse this place of the vile Trolls.'

You say, 'what powerfull magic?'

Master Scribe Uklo says 'Our battle wizards called many comets of ice from the sky, along with bolts of pure magical force, brutal walls of flame and even [illusions] to confuse and disorient the stupid trolls.'

You say, 'what illusions?'

Master Scribe Uklo says 'A select few of Mithaniel's chosen know the secrets of spinning illusions. This skill allowed our bravest warriors to infiltrate the Troll's defenses and ensure victory. These are some of our most closely guarded secrets. We only [teach] them to a select few so they can better aid us in our battle.'

You say, 'will you teach me?'

Master Scribe Uklo says 'You must first [prove] yourself a friend of Gukta before I will teach you our secrets.'

You say, 'and how do i prove to be a friend?'

Master Scribe Uklo says 'Very well, I will put your loyalty to the test. Long ago, a great hero of our people lost his life fighting the Trolls. He was in Rathe Mountains investigating a rumor that the Trolls were stockpiling special weapons in an effort to turn the tide of war back in their favor. He was ambushed by a group of troll marauders and their captain Krignok. He fought valiantly, slaying the marauders and eventually locking swords with the captain. But in the end, exhaustion got the better of him and he died by the troll's hand. The Krignok respected the froglok's ferocity and swore that they would one day finish their fight. So through a dark ritual the troll Captain locked the froglok's spirit in his own sword and broke it into 3 pieces. One piece he placed on the [battlefield] where they fought. The other piece he gave to an [infamous troll] warrior to guard. The location of the third piece has been lost over the time but there are [clues] as to where it may be.'

You say, 'what is the location of the battlefield?'

Master Scribe Uklo says 'The Mountains of Rathe hold many stories. One of them is the story of froglok warrior Chalex for this is the place where he was killed. Find the place where his bones are kept and say aloud "I wish to recover what is lost" and if you are worthy you shall receive a gift.'

You say, 'what about this infamous troll warrior?'

Master Scribe Uklo says 'Gribnor is one of the strongest trolls alive, he is also one of the shortest. His strength is the reason that the Troll Captain entrusted him with a piece of the sword because he knew that it would be almost impossible for anyone to take it away from him. Last we heard Gribnor had taken up residence in Neriak Third Gate along with the rest of those vile trolls. I warn you to be careful as allies of Gukta are not welcome in the home of Innoruuk's children.'

You say, 'what are the clues to the third piece?'

Master Scribe Uklo says 'The troll captain spent some time in the lower part of Guk. Apparently he was trying to control the undead frogs there and use them against us. His plans did not see fruition and while trying to escape he dropped the sword blade. It is rumored that another explorer found it and the power drove him insane doomed to wander the halls of Lower Guk seeking only to destroy others. I believe you will find this to be the toughest piece to retrieve.'

You say, 'Hail, a spectral shimmer'

A Spectral Shimmer says 'Take this final piece and hurry, my power gets weaker by the moment.' The spectral shimmer fades away.

You have entered Gukta, Outpost of Marr.

(gave Master Scribe Uklo the 3 pieces of the sword)

Master Scribe Uklo says 'I just can't believe that I am holding all three items. You are truly amazing. Now let me see. . . Seems the blade has been fused with some sort of material. We must remove this before the sword can be restored. I think this calls for an old recipe. Take this distiller and use it to mix some skyash bile and a pinch of drake lava powder together. You should be able to find the bile in the mountains of fire and the drake lava powder is best retrieved from fire drakes in the mountains of lava. Bring me the result and I should be able to restore this ancient weapon.'

You have entered Lavastorm Mountains.
You have slain a fire drake!
--You have looted a Drake Lava Powder.--

You have entered Skyfire Mountains.
You have slain a skyash drake!
--You have looted a Skyash Bile.--

(combine in the distiller Master Scribe Uklo gave you and get: magical blade restorive. I'm assuming it is nofail)

You have entered Gukta, Outpost of Marr.

(gave Master Scribe Uklo the magical blade restorive.)

Uklo grins as you hand him the restorative. Words cannot describe what you have done. This is truly a wonderful day for our citizens. Now I can rebuild the sword and our hero can finally finish that which he started. Please, while this is more then enough proof of your loyalty, I must ask that you take this sword and place it in the remains. Return with proof that it has been done and I shall reward you with the knowledge you seek.

(recieved: Marr's Retribution)

You have entered Rathe Mountains.

(gave Marr's Retribution to the froglok remains from earlier in the quest)

A spectral figure appears emanating a powerful yet ghastly aura. Warrior Spirit Chalex says 'Your kindness has given me a chance to finish that which I started. While I thank thee for restoring my blade and bringing it to me I am not worthy to wield it until I have destroyed the one who killed me. Please hold my sword until I have redeemed myself by vanquishing the vile Troll Captain Krignok. Now I must ask that you protect me, I can feel his presence close by and once again he is not alone.

(he returns Marr's Retribution)

Warrior Spirit Chalex shouts 'Come forth coward, this time we fight on equal terms!'

Krignok's undead minions shamble towards you slowly, littering the ground with rotting flesh.

Warrior Spirit Chalex shouts 'Give it up Krignok, you are outmatched when facing a paladin of Mithaniel Marr!'

Undead Captian Krignok shouts 'Your beliefs will find you dead by my hands once again frog!'

You say, 'Hail, Chalex The Redeemed'

Chalex The Redeemed Looks at you longingly, hand outstretched.

(gave him Marr's Retribution again)

As Chalex takes the sword he begins to change. Old becomes new right before your eyes as the touch of Mithaniel reshapes the warrior spirit. 'Thank you again Paanar. Your kindness has allowed my spirit to go home. Please show this to my people so they will have a memory of what you have done.'

(recieved: A Spectral Memory)

Waving goodbye Chalex The Redeemed disappears just as quickly as he appeared.

You have entered Gukta, Outpost of Marr.

(gave A Spectral Memory to Uklo)

Uklo kneels before you as tears of happiness roll down his face. I thank you Paanar. Since our creation it has been rare that we have received such kindness. You will always be welcome in our city and future generations will croak the story of your greatness. Please take this as a small token of my gratitude you have truly earned it.

(recieved: Spell: Illusion Guktan)

Master Scribe Uklo opens the spectral locket eager to see what is inside. Suddenly an all too familiar image appears next him.

the memory of Chalex says 'Thank you again adventurer. Thank you for helping me get back that which I lost.'

[Tue Aug 12 02:20:00 2003] You begin casting Illusion: Guktan.
You feel very amphibious.
Crath tells the group, 'hahahahahh'
You tell your party, 'I'M A MAN!!!!'
Crath tells the guild, 'rofl paan is a male human'
You tell your party, 'but i'm frogglok sized'
Crath rolls on the floor laughing at Paanar.
You tell your party, 'cant make illusion sex change my ***'

on the 2 drops off the drakes, i got each off its first drake so that shouldnt be a long camp. the splitting on the tiny troll was wierd, unsoloable but with a healer and some dps you can do it, i did it with a 65 wiz, me and a 65 cleric, wiz epic tanked in the corner while i chainruned/nuked sent pet in and cleric healed. the little troll and his body guards are all the same as far as immunities and hits cept the tiny one is an sk where the others are warriors. hope this helps. oh and i remember reading somewhere else the tiny troll ht's for like 970 but i didnt see that because my rune soaked it :P

And, here is a link to the images I got from it.

Becareful,
He and his 2 pet all blue to L65 hit very fast, I have L65 Cleric, L65 Warrior, L65 Druid and myself L65 enchanter in group, First try we kill one and evac. Afterward we med to full and kill the 2 left, very tough fight since they cannot Mez, root and snare.
Neriak Part

It appears two guards have been added to the Troll in Neriak as of recently, careful as they are immune to mez. Not sure about slow since I didn't have it memmed at the time and was too busy chain casting rune on myself :p

If you have DC, there is a rogue GM that cons light blue that can be DC'd, I highly recommend that if you plan to solo the mob. If not, bring a warrior and a cleric.

Anyone know the respawn time on this guy? Been clearing everything near the arch magus, animated hand, and ghoul lord camp for about 4 hours now and still no show on the traveller. Spoke with another chanter and they said they waited around for 7 hours the previous day before giving up. Just what we need, another quest mob with an ungodly long respawn time bottlenecking everything.

Grobnor The Brute lvl 52 respawn time 1 hour.
KoS to all so watch it, others will not assist him. HT for about 761 and summons but not much, max hit 200, regular hit low to mid 100's, fears but decent resist it should never land, cannot be slowed or charmed, snared/rooted yes, butt ton of HPs so 2 fighters and a healer is np to drop him.

If You rearly mean that the quest is waste of valuable time, of yours, then go play something else. EverLoot, or EverMarket. I don't care. It is the Quest's that makes this game worth to play. I guess you never will do your epic, couse you can loot or buy a lot better stuff, than your Epic. I think it is cool, when I see a Paladin with his Epic, couse I know how hard it is to do the Pally-epicquest.

I wonder why they call it EverQUEST. Things like this quest are what keep alot of people coming back for more. Some of us don't have "Endless Plat Bag" and alot of the items we obtain are from quests. Personally I think there should be more quests and less bazaar.
