If you are small race, I recommend heading to Dawnshroud Peaks (go to near the Sanctus Seru zone) and kill Lightcrawlers. There are 5 armour quests for the shells that drop. The vambraces are AC11 Dex4 Disease4, and are quite easy for a cleric to obtain after around lv 30.

Check the write-up of the quests for details...

Piting 36 gnome cleric, 7th Hammer

This armor is decent ac, and incredibly easy to obtain. THe quest item from Highpass just requires you to give the guy a tumpy tonic, which you can brew, or quest for. No fighting at all. The other item comes from a single lvl 35, non-casting mob in ocean of tears (pick up the kiola nut for the tonic while u are there). The other mobs on the island do not add, even if they are close enough that their graphic is touching the guy you are killing. My cleric (lvl 34 at the time) and a 35 druid took this guy out, and had no loss of hp at all. just stood about max spell range from each other, druid snared him, and then we started ping ponging him between us. I nuke, he turns toward me, when he gets close, druid nukes, he turns toward druid. Repeat. Very easy kill. Seemed to have NO magic resist, everything stuck. This piece is easier to get than blackened alloy, so of course the stats are meant for mid levels.

I full group could probably take him out with mid/high 20's as levels. and this is nice armor for that range, unless you are twinked, or have gotten really lucky cashwise.
Don't Worry About Wis...yet

This Stuff is Excellent gear! Until level 30+ your Wis (believe it or not) does not actaully affect your mana pool. You should get a full set of this armor for a few reasons.
ONE: It looks Very Cool! (Golden armor *Yummy*)
TWO: It has Great AC and raises (pretty much) Every Stat you have!
THREE: Wisdom does not affect your mana pool greatly until the mid 30's+, so you would be better having this armor for it's GREAT AC, and getting some +mana Rings/Earrings/Necklace from your local Jeweler.
FOUR: This stuff will hold you over well into the high levels! You can slowly replace it as you find better drops or quests you can do for your level. (I see 50+ Characters still wearing this mid-level armor, Crafted-Darkforge-Lambent...)
FIVE: IT'S FUN TO DO THE QUESTS! Lots of XP to be had in both the adventuring and the questing.
SIX: Did i mention it looks DERN COOL! (Golden, I mean...cmon!)

Yeah, uh, this first guy's totally wrong. You get about 5 mana/1 wis at level 25 and from there it scales up to about 10 mana /1 wis at 50.

You also get mana for it at lower levels at a lesser rate.

Well for a more exact calculation it is like this (hope you're good at algebra)

((Level x .2) x Wisdom) + ManaItems = Mana

This is not 100% as by that calculation at level 60 1 wiz = 12 mana when it's really 10 but close enough for who it's for LOL. Plus calculating exact mana is VERY hard as verant has an odd rule set up for this calculation.

You obviously have never had the opportunity to twink, because you are SOOOO wrong. I have a gnome cleric, base wisdom 102, which I PL'ed to level 9 in a couple hours. I have twinked her out to 188 wisdom using my level 60 druid's hand-me-downs and a few purchased items. She has 201 base mana, with 155 additional mana with the wisdom gear, bringing it to 356 mana. I have tested it chain casting spells, so I know the mana calc is quite accurate. How can you say a 77% increase in mana isn't an affect your mana pool??

If you see level 50+ wearing this crap, they are obviously not in a guild, or not a very good one. Hell, guardian armor in Skyshrine is tons better than this crap (at least it has TWO pieces which give wisdom, much better resists and AC), which can be obtained by a couple level 50s easily, and probably by a full group of mid 40's. Course, once you get in your 50's you should set your eyes towards velious quest armor.
Helm?

As far as I know, there is no helmet. I have the boots, legs, BP, and Bracer. Am only short the arms and another bracer. For looks, a bronze helm looks pretty good with this set, but you'll want to swap in a +wis piece in battles. I use savant's cap, cause I'm poor. I would imagine a dyed Fine steel helm would look nice too, but not sure how many resins would be closest match.

Update on this. There is some new Luclin armor called twilight quest armor, that includes a helmet. The color is golden, although I suspect it is not an exact match. Every piece of the twilight armor has wis and/or mana on it, and same ac as the Sol Ro quest stuff. Same ac though, and lvl 45 to obtain. Quests are much more difficult. However, it has many pieces left out of this set (including a helm), and when you start upgrading this armor, it will look ok as you swap the pieces out.
