No grobb helment?
# Jun 14 2004 at 1:48 AM Rating: Default
Nopa, You said that this Ornate would be better then the Grobb if you have a Avatar.

First plz explain Avatar.(sorry I'm clueless)

Second, I have the grobb helment and I as well have a hard time letting it go.

My monk is 3 blues from 55, so this idea isn't too far off.

To answer the one part of your post, avatar is a shaman buff(also a proc on some weapons from Sleepers tomb). The first version(lvl 60 spell) is +100Atk/AGI/STR/DEX and requires an emerald when cast. Ferine Avatar(lvl 65 spell) is +140Atk/AGI/STR/DEX and has no component for cast. The base duration of the spell is 6 and half minutes.
this vs. grobb cowl

This has HP and some stamina. Hands down, that is just more important than a few more str for a monk. ...and if you're a human, the plainsight effect is at least semi valueable, as it puts night vision and see invis in one spot, all for what...6 or 7k in the bazaar plus the 500p for the combine?

This was a sweet upgrade for me.

Its actually fairly decent item. Maybe not as up on stats as some really good items, but...I put an Enduring Breath aug from Sro camp on it, and now I have 1 item with worn EB/see invis/ultravision. Freeing up other slots for gear with better stats/effects.
(mainly regen and attack bonus effects.)
Requirements?

You have to be level 55.

you either need access to 3rd tier zones or lvl 62 with no flags. it used to be you need flags untill they put lvl requiremsnts on some zones so people could get in, so in effect you could be lvl 46 and have all the flags for a 3rd tier zone. anyone confirm this?

Vs Grobb hide?

I have tried justifying getting one of these verses my curretn Grobb hide Cap. I just can't justify it, grobb has 10 dex, sta, str and this does not. The added resists, 2 ac, and hp dont really justify the loss. Maybe if the cap has magic resist.... I may get it but it really is a hard sell. http://www.magelo.com/eq_view_profile.html?num=542788

The ornate is better for monks with avatar procs. Avatar gives +100 in STr, Dex, and Agi as well as +100 Attack, making only Hp's and AC an issue. Therefore, ornate is better once you have avatar

i have a grobb hide cowl as well, actually augmented with 5 more str on it, and i would still take this over it. for quite a few reasons actually, the 50 HPs are real nice, the saves are great, and the plainsight. being a human sucks for vision. when im in caves or its night out, i actually have to turn the lights off in my room or close the blinds to try and get rid of the glare on my screen so i can see. if you think about it, your not even losing that many stats, 5 str, 3 dex and 5 stm, not bad at all for the increase in ac and hps.

So who's the 65 Monk at the bottom of your signature? One your buying on Ebay?

The lack of hp and saves on the grobb hide camp has forced me to switch it out... I am finding just how darn good saves are, and now with that stonewall disc, resisting a spell can keep FD when before it would have broke. You'll find stats mean less and less as you move out of the lvl range you can solo at, and in groups, stats get pushed pretty darn high through buffs. Item stats don't mean that much towards the end. Something yes, but not the same resists and hp mean. I would take this as well just due to being a blind human. AC... means very little to monks, nerf took that out of the equation.

I have this head piece and it does NOT have a graphic on a human monk.

Master Mantis
A guess

I would guess that it has no graphic at all. None of the other Ornamental helmets/caps have graphics to my experience.
