#Montanya, Posted: Apr 27 2006 at 11:08 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) One month later and a hair away from 60, My Ranger has had to set up hotbuttons to answer tells asking about this 2h sword !! Maxed str and dex along with 36% haste, add tribute haste, and a 75 or 100 proc on this thing and it is truely amazing. It's funny sometimes how many times the other melees change their weapons after I've had this out a couple mobs. Been doing this since 02 with 8 toons and have never seen a 2h'er that supprised me like this one has.

So would this be one of the best if not the best weapons for a low level twink to train 2hs with? Or am I blind to not see a rec/req level up there

It has a recommended level of 53. It does say it there. So not a very good weapon for a twink at low levels.

You are correct, it is a great sword to use. I have used this extensively since I obtained it in October 2004. Every weapon is situational and none are perfect for all situations. This weapon shines when you are slashing through MOBS to get to the so called Big Encounter. On a very long fight against a MOB with a ton of HP, other weapons certainly do parse out more favorably, and in those situations I do not use this weapon. However, when you and your raid or group are working through tons of MOBS in fast fights, nothing comes close to this weapon. Here is a typical parse for me at Level 66 with 245 Str, 34 percent haste:
[Tue May 24 02:20:44 2005] You slash Bazu Destroyer for 106 points of damage.
[Tue May 24 02:20:44 2005] You slash Bazu Destroyer for 99 points of damage.
[Tue May 24 02:20:45 2005] You slash Bazu Destroyer for 149 points of damage.
[Tue May 24 02:20:47 2005] You slash Bazu Destroyer for 149 points of damage.
[Tue May 24 02:20:47 2005] You slash Bazu Destroyer for 118 points of damage.

It is also very effective against casters as it hits so fast the it is very difficult for them to get a cast off. As a person who actually uses this weapon, I can attest that it is fabulous. As most of us know, stat analysis does not tell the whole story, use does. Every time that I use this in a raid or a group, I get tells the whole time asking me what I am using as a weapon that makes me hit like a madman. If you get one, and actually use it, you will love it.

I've just bought the weapon, 50K on Rallos Zek.
Its a very special and very rare weapon, the graphics (Ive sended a screenshot to allakhazam) are very distinct and original.
Its a very fast weapon infact, as I remember,on of the fastest 2H Slash weapon in the game.
Peeps say in my grp, dude what are you wielding lol you hit with devastating speed...

Granted I have a windblade, etc, and yeah they do more dmg due to the DMG bonus. Still I dont think its a HUGE dif. + equip this weapon with a proc augmentation or an SK self proc buff and you'll proc more since your hit faster and got more chance to do so..

I see hundreds of windblades everyday, I've see one of this blade and its in my hands...

Replying a bit late, but just wanted to correct a couple of misconceptions here.

Proc rate is independent of weapon speed and haste effects. You will not proc more with this weapon if you augment it.

DPS is less important than other things, especially good procs, in keeping aggro. I imagine something like a Great Staff of Thunder would easily out-aggro this for a tiny fraction of the price (GSoT is WAR only though).

Riposte damage from raid mobs could be quite nasty, although better than dual wielding I guess.

In terms of DPS for standard exp groups, because of the low damage bonus, this will do about 80% of the damage of a WM Bladed Staff and 75% of a Velium Gemmed two hander at level 65.

So... nice for the looks and great for skilling up, but otherwise there are much cheaper and better weapons around.

For a good combination of dps and aggro for normal grouping then the CHoS and SotBS from the same zone are a good (and very common) choice.

Actually Miakiss is correct, and your flame just makes you look ignorant. Proc rate is based on procs per minute, not procs per swing. Believe it or not, an unhasted character, with a windblade, and with slow cast on them, and a ykesha proc in the windblade, would proc at the same rate over time, as a hasted one with this weapon.

The base proc rate for most weapons is 2 times per minute at 255 dex. Some weapons have modifiers that make them proc more often, like the Hammer of Holy Vengeance.

The FACT that procs are not based on weapon delay is well documented and discussed at Steel Warriors. Please learn how procs work, prior to flaming someone who happened to be correct.

Does your class even use weapons? What are you talking about?

Without AA and 305 dex every class in the game will proc 2 times a minute with its mainhand weapon and 1 time a minute with its offhand per minute(with an average weapon) regardless of haste, weapon delay, dietary suppliments, fashion sense, etc etc.

The ONLY things that change proc rate is dex and the proc rate mod certain weapons have. Cleric summoned hammers for instance have insane proc rates as we all know. Bloodfrenzy procs about 3 times a minute. However most weapons in the game, and especially the older weapons, proc at 2 times per minute in the mainhand. This has been known about for many years. About a year ago however the exact proc rate for each weapon became evident.

A discussion on this:
http://www.thesteelwarrior.org/forum/showthread.php?t=5570&page=1&pp=15

a note on this: Unknown70 value has been changed to "procratemod" on lucy. Heres a Bloodfrenzy (http://lucy.allakhazam.com/itemraw.html?id=28855) for example showing procratemod 55, which is 55% bonus to the normal 2 per minute. Thereby making it roughly 3 per minute

Also, have you ever heard of Shakerpaging? A warrior gets his Earthshaker(pbae proccing weapon), gets himself slowed by a shaman, takes off his personal haste. He then pulls like 150 mobs, hits furious disc to riposte, then rampages. Since his weapon speed is so slow the warrior has a higher chance of proccing on each swing in his rampage. *Poof* zonewide horrible lag, 150 dead mobs, tons of xp. The slowing and removing worn haste is vital to something like this.

Augs are no different than weapons either. As far as I can tell every aug Ive used procs twice per minute mainhand, 1 per minute offhand, just like the average weapon proc.

IMO you probably owe an apology to the above poster whom you insulted, but realistically I know the odds of that are about zero. Maybe you should "Do da math" as you put it.

Hail,
I finally acquired one of these and agree with every point that you made. Additionally, because of the speed of this weapon, holding aggro, as a MT is a breeze, which is what a MT needs to do. Absolutely great weapon.

I don't know where you are all getting your pricing information, but this weapon is completely pwned by the war marshal's bladed staff, which sold for about 9k before GoD even came out. The delay on this is too low, meaning that you lose out on a LOT of damage due to the much lower damage bonus.

I can't imagine paying 10k for this, let alone 50k.

Velium Gemmed Greatsword is TONS better, although it does have recommended (and, I think, required levels) much higher than this.

This sword is just not very good.

Graphic? I got one and it's not that great. Besides If your playing the game to look good your playing the wrong class try ENC. Let me know if your all about looks before you group with me..

The more reasonable price for this item is 40-50k and with the new releases coming out it's more and more getting out-dated..

I don't want to sound like I'm 'Flaming' anyone or anything, but for those of you who don't know, Riposte won't hit you if you're behind the mob, so unless you're the tank, you should pretty much be behind the mob, not just the rogue, and you wouldn't have to worry about getting Riposted.

I have used the Windblade, War Marshals, and Granite halberd of chance. i also had Longblade of Vitality with a good shield. high dly 2 handers parse better than low dly 2 handers, (below dly 28) but if your tired of seeing "you hit a..." only every 5 seconds then get this weapon until you at least get an uber no drop.

this weapon is cool for any 53-65 pal/sk:
-you hit a lot
-has good stats for tank
-has awesome graphic
-its an extremely rare drop(nice to be different)

The Wind, Warmarshalls, (insert any number of two handers) ect...parse better, true, but its the weapons speed in skilling that reveals how it truly shines. How many of you dual wielding classes out there have let your 2H weapon skill slide into oblivion? This baby makes skilling a breeze and doesnt compramise (sp) to much DPS to do so. Any ranger who payed way to much loving attention to his epic and not enough to his future needs (possible needs that is, not everyone cares about the dangers of high end riposte), will kiss the dead mobs feet that dropped this.

Monstrous Flamberge of Alacrity = no more worries about 2H skilling

It can be hard to get (a very rare drop off the Seer) or expensive (a little more than I would pay for sure) but for some rich 65 lvl ranger with time on his hands and a 2H skill of 6 whos got 40 guild brothers and sisters brow beating him or her for that laugher of a riposte death, its the best thing since a first year yekesha drop.

Not a bad weapon imo. The delay is pretty low so you be hittin quite fast and therefore more chances at skill ups. I used to use a Silver swiftblade only to keep my 2hs up. Now at the time i lost DPS as compared to using 2 weapons. This on the otherhand would deal some decent damage compared to,all the while helping you raise your skill. Too bad its recomended level of use is 53 as i think this is a twink weapon at best.

Dly being below 28 takes a lot outta it, people can say all ya want about the dmg bonus not factoring in but then why not use a 1h wep? youll get almost same dmg bonus, same riposte dmg and get to use a shield *shrug* id rather have MDS over this wep personally

Keeping in mind of course you're swinging this thing fast for a two hander, getting a higher damage bonus than a one hander and taking less riposte damage because you aren't dual wielding.

Heh, not much more of a damage bonus. Damage bonus for 2 handers increases significantly with a delay of 28 or above.

Any 2h-ed weapon under 28 delay does not got a decent damage bonus (I believe this gets 14 bonus), so a Windblade will outdamage this as will any of the better 2h-ers such as Warmarshalls, Great Staff of Thunder, Greatstaff of the Four Winds etc. Still wouldn't mind haivng one to play with tho
