For those of you that say "no wis - this will go to an int caster" - you must not realize that by the time you get to EarthB you're capped on wis already... who cares if it doesn't have wis. It has the focus and 140hp/mana.

I own one of these, and it's a very sweet weapon. Once I won it, I no longer had any desire for the sharkspine.

One thought on this "who cares about stats..."

Aura of Destruction

That is a zone wide effect in Uqua-- a GoD zone. Losing 100 off of int and wis is kind of nasty but losing 250 off of all other stats -- for a caster -- can be rather devestating. Even with some of the mitigation items you can get there for the effect, you may want to look into getting WAY over your stat caps just for safety if you want to advance to such places.

Been wanting one of these for some time and I finally have it. Was using Nature Walkers Scimitar before this.

Sure it dropped my unbuffed WIS below max (I am kinda sad on the WIS side due to a bad choice of stats from the start: *cough*--- 75 WIS and 95 INT, lol). However, the extra mana is nice (dropping unbuffed base WIS to 294 sucked, but I still gained about 15 to mana base with this) as well as HP (extra STA and base HP)

I will miss the added MR, FR, and CR, but I can live with that. Not to mention the d/d and nuke enhancer...time to get rid of my dang Dusty Girdle [:cheer:]

It drops off Gigadon (Level: 68) Hammertooth (Level: 70) Razorfin (Level: 68) Swordfang (Level: 68) Yes, they ARE one grp killable. One of our SKs got his pet wep off Gigadon, a Pally got his Plankton Laced Greatsword off off the Egg Keeper in one grp, and I know a druid in our guild that has this one.

Good luck, that Club one is a nice wep.

Necro Cudgels!!

Er, tzsjynx can I say that you are obviously a person who has minimal knowledge of the uses of necros on a raid. Or perhaps I should say a high end raid. Over time necros deal more damage than any other class, including wizards. A reasonably long fight like Xegony will see a necro deal out a truckload more damage than anyone else if they are actually playing a DPS role and not engaged in constant feeding. Admittedly this depends on the quality of your clerics, but with dots we outdamage anyone.

On most raids necros nuke and nuke hard, using Neurotoxin, disease based DD. Not many things resist disease, although cold and fire are often resisted, just fyi. We will never outdamage a wizard on DD, BUT other damage classes have many focus items to enhance their damage. Would I wear the lovely Cloak of Combustion with the Eci 30% on it? Nope. Definitely should go to a wizard, dru, shm, or beast. Cold casters all.

Would I wield this Cudgel? Yup you bet. With Staff of Lost Rituals in secondary I get 20% extra on dots, with this 30% on nukes. It is situational. In a short fight I would use this and the Staff, just in case I cast a dot. In a long fight I would be breaking out my Crystal Rod of Control with Vengeance of Time Focus 25% to dots, and my Affliction Efficiency 4 shield. A cleric won this today on our POEb warlord clearing, and everyone was glad for her (grats Sympatroniqe). So, when she is AE nuking her heart out at Coir she will have an extra kick in her condemnation. Did I bid against her? Yes, but do I mind that I didn’t win? No. She had a better claim on it than me at this time, and it is good for any class that can use it. That’s why it’s a non-specialist focus.

Try seeing things from a necro point of view sometime. With GoD FOMM3 AA and ToLM2 I outnuke many of our wizards and mages with disease nukes and magic based lifetaps on certain mobs. On others they blast mobs to bits that are disease resistant and vulnerable to fire and cold. So would I be bidding on this with a clear conscience? Since I don’t have the mask from RZtW you bet I will be. If some other class wins it over me because of better ratio or DKP I will be glad for them, as it will improve the overall damage of my guild. If I win I am quite sure they would be just as happy to see this necro nuking for 3k plus on a regular basis than is currently possible.

Slacthehard Prophet said “the mobs who drop this is doable by 1 group I've been told.” Nope, they lied. I don’t think he is one groupable at this stage of the game, though maybe someone from FoH might be able to provide evidence to the contrary. The minimum I have seen him done with is 24.

Dirty necro and proud of it!
RE: Necro Cudgels!!
# Apr 07 2004 at 3:57 PM Rating: Decent
Shinime covered most of it (although Insidious Retrogression is disease resist and has a nuke component, and Rathenecro did admit that necros will never outdamage wizards via nuking).

What I really wanted to add was that Rathenecro's example of a cleric using this while AE nuking against Coirnav was also wrong, as AEs are excluded from every nuke focus I've seen.
RE: Necro Cudgels!!
# Aug 11 2004 at 10:49 PM Rating: Decent
Insidious Retrogression checks against magic, not disease. However, I belive it is Disease cureable. Similar to shaman slows.
RE: Necro Cudgels!!
# Mar 11 2004 at 8:21 PM Rating: Decent

For a level 65 necro you are not particularly clued in yourself.

Firstly the effect on this hammer is a 25% boost to nukes, not 30%. And wow is giving this to a cleric a waste, druzzil (magic) focii are common as muck.

Secondly Neurotoxin (and the ancient) are both poison based. There's no disease based DD's in the entire necro ********

Finally you only out-nuke a wizard or mage when they are asleep at the wheel. The base neurotox is 130DPS and the wizards have superior crits, resists adjustments, focii and base DPS than us.

That said I agree with the essence of your post. He's not one-groupable, Necro's are a DPS class on raids and this item (which I own, got it last night) is a superb enhancement to that role. It is one of only two neurotoxin compatible focii in pre-time PoP and I have never seen the other drop (RZtW's mask).

I would suggest this would go to a wizard over the other classes due to the effect. As a shaman who has just started fighting in PoEb I've been looking at the drops here to upgrade my 1hb, but I would'nt ask for this due to the effect, I already have a focus effect for my cold based nukes already. Cool zone to fight in, for my 1hb I'm looking to PoWater

Wizards have lots of Fury items (30% improved damage) they can get for their resists (Fire Magic Cold) by the time you get to that item, this one is only 25% ID

Necros don't have a single specific ID focus for their primary DD (neurotoxin, poison resist), and in high end raids we use it a lot

Anger of Solusek is the best "improved damage" (non specialized) focus before you reach Plane of Time, and is only on 2 items, this one and RZtW mask
RE: Wizards best friend
# Jan 26 2004 at 4:43 PM Rating: Default
Hehe I just honestly can't understand how you necros think you do so much damage on raids and that you should be awarded things such as this.

Frankly this might as soon go to a Cleric or Druid or Enchanter, all three of which have better or equal damage to Necros for less mana. Yes necros are great for damage but some of you I see are starting to get quite out of hand~

Your class has snare, fear, dots, and a pet that backstabs... can you say SOLO! When your soloing do you ever nuke... no... your nukes are just an excuse to get on a raid and have more then one of you. Sorry to be so blantant and I'll surely get bad ratings for this one, but I'm sick of necros thinking they should get all this DD stuff.

Anyways we all see things differently, especially towards what classes we have, so my main being a paladin I do understand that many Wizards have picked their favorite nuke and will use that nuke unless something is very resistant to it, and in this case one of the other fury lines' extra 5% will be helpful, so you know what... whatever... whoever's guild this drops for can figure it out... just try to see it from other classes' perspectives you dirty Necros...

The only element of your post that is correct is that it gave me a headache and made me vomit. It would be hard to be more clueless than you are, and it is clear you didn't read the thread.

By the time you get to this item your clerics, druids and enchanters all have superior DD focii on elemental level items. Your necromancers don't. Thus the gain to the guild is high if it goes to a necro.

If you got this item you are a raiding necro in a high end guild. At which point there will be no possible reason for you to mem snare or fear. One of these spells does nothing and the other will get people killed.

I'm sure there may have been, quite a few others, of the classes that CAN use it, that may have 'shiat' themselves too...

Can we say AA? I am sure we could say AA. Some people just don't know when to quit, I know quite a few people with over 300 aa points.

There is just never enough. Others might want to solo to get drops for their trade skills, which they then sell in the bazaar. Off course, they can't actually buy any upgrades for themselves, but who cares.

So what if you are buying Innate Charisma for your warrior, playing is still fun.

Monks get the best weapons in the game, some better than 30 20. But for casters, damage/delay doesn't really matter unless you're in the mood to wack things. But also for casters, it's the stats and focus effects that we hold dear, and this item surely has that. This also has 140 mana and hps, making it even more valuable. All in all, I would trade any epic over this, obviously...
RE: Uber
# Jun 10 2003 at 12:18 AM Rating: Default
FACT: 80% of all EQ quests are unsolved.
FACT: 4% of those (approx 120) are linked and must all be completed to get the most uber weapon in the game that has not and probably never will be found you just must trust me on this ( I bet most won't ...but WTF)

Magic , NO DROP ( NO LORE STATUS )
True Evil
Slot: prim , secon.
Skill 1 Hand Slash Atk Delay 20
DMG 150
STR + 100 STA + 100 AGI + 100 DEX + 100
WT. 5.1

Now who has the best weapons in the game?

Forgot the norent tag. It was dropped during a halloween event 2 years ago. I dont believe this is the correct name but I think the stats are correct. They had a patch around 12 hours later so this sword wasnt around long.
RE: Uber
# Oct 27 2003 at 9:29 PM Rating: Decent
Well, there are 2548 known quests on EQ (on this sight) so, using your "FACTS" there would be around 10192 unsolved quests. 4% of that would be 408, rounded, not the 120 you suggested. Now how long does an average quest take? All that camping and waiting, and these will of course be UBER quests because of their end result, so ill go easy on them and say 70 hours of playtime each (probably much more). Now 408 time 70 is 28,560. 28,560 hours your saying it would take to complete this quest. Thats 1190 days of playtime, or about 3 1/3 years. Hmmmmm. I for one do not have 3 years to pour in EQ, maybe you do, but I don't. BTW i would be interested to find out how you learned about this sword. Any links? If you happen to remember just post. That's my not so long rant for today.

P.S. I hope they updated this sword and gave it + a few thousand HP.

umm
# Apr 28 2003 at 6:18 PM Rating: Default
I think its the fact that its a 30/20 weapon that its not monk equippable... not the int or mana...

No melee class can use it... why should monks be able to?
#REDACTED, Posted: Apr 28 2003 at 5:44 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I wonder why this wouldn't be monk equip able. Is it because of the +10 Int or the +140 Mana? Seems like a bit of a rip to me. Even though I'll probably NEVER see this zone, I would still like to think I actually had a chance to get it. Oh well.
