How I wish you could just kill this guy and it would drop the flute and combine it with the robe yourself. Monk epic sure is a lot easier now that the fights don't even need a full group to complete and people have always taken the robe camps in stride but these damn pipes seems like the entire epic now.

First off, Kunark has been abandoned. PoP exp is just too good to warrent hanging out in Chardok for hours or lounging around in Sebilis or KC. The pipes were obviously meant to be something that a group killing at these camps would shout out that it is there for a monk to loot or for a monk to be able to get exp groups near theses camps and get it that way.

Now that KC is more or less for 35-50 and not 45-55 and also is really empty most of the times you hardly ever see people there capable of fighting at the hand camp and what little you do see in the zone are more interested in camping live captain for hours for about no exp than going in deeper.

As for Chardok that place is a step up from KC in level so they made that pipe a little more accessable with only around a 4-6 hour spawn time, but now it is abandoned. The place where it is makes it very hard for a monk to even think of getting it because there's no way to even think of going in and just trying to camp it like you could the KC pipe, you have to kill down through the shortcut tunnel to the bridge keeper spawn and keep those 5 spawns down and not to mention you have to do this for 4-6 hours. You have to have pretty good friends or have someone who owes you big time to get someone to do this with you and another bad thing is again the 2 boxing population has a camp they have access to at any time yet a monk alone can't even think of doing.

All of that being said I guess it's ok since without the pipes pretty much all monks who took the time to get the robe would have epic easily in 1 day but still I'd almost rather do my wizard's epic over again than get these pipes if it weren't for wizard epic being complete and total hell having to worry about drop rates on top of spawn times on top of the kills being "sort-of" raids. Anyway just hope more and more lower levels and 2 boxers start getting better in KC. Chardok pipe is fine if you can eventually set up a nice long camp session for it but KC pipe is almost like raster spawn rate and the mobs are all 50+. I'm just glad bard epic piece, a skeletal warlord jail camp is here, and those wrist items drop in this spot also or no one would ever have a KC pipe to do a MultiQuest.

Actually, on my server people still go to KC around 48- 54ish. Dont often see people above that go there, but they will show up sometimes. 60's aswell, though it's probably more of a charity for them... I got my KC pipe last week... with my group holding LCY, us keeping that cleared and then I pulled jail and then WL, at 54. Of course, that's not as fantastic luck considering I got my RotLC around last year this time, but... what can I say, I took some very long EQ Breaks :)

And as for Chardok, I have been creating pickup groups and going there for close to a week now. People up to 59 have been willing to go- and I will keep doing this, seeing as the exp is nice aswell, until I get the thing )
The pipes take effort, yes. But effort is not a bad thing. Try it again, now that Pop has worn off and people are less ldon obsessive. (Well.. a little less anyways.)

But, actually... An Ancient Thin Flute is for the item called 'The Whistling Fists' quest, not 'The Robe of the Whistling Fists'. The Whistling Fists are an epic-ish item based out of Cabilis.

Just two letters away from being Zamfir, Master of the Pan Flute. Coincidence? You decide.
