Question
# Dec 06 2001 at 4:14 PM Rating: Default
Ok I see this stuff selling on my server (Zeb) for 1500-2000pp. I understand that it is a very difficult armor to make, but with the low stats (there are plenty of better items for that kind of price) why pay so much for it? I saw someone posted that they sell it for 20pp per ac, and THIS seems reasonable to me.

Forgive me for I am just begining the smithing trade myself and maybe I will see the reason for it costing so much when I am able to make it (or dwarven equivalent rather). Anyway I wasnt trying to sound like a smart *** and put anyone down, I was just curious why so much.

This is a beautiful set of armor with a purplish-red color, so the wealthier Norrathians may buy it to wear for special occasions like weddings.

Since you are level 35, I presume you don't have a lot of spare pp burning a hole in your pocket. At 55, neither do I. But some people have spare cash for pretty things like this. I would personally like to encourage all wealthy Norrathians to buy pretty stuff even though they don't need it for stats. Every tradeskiller needs a patron.

Where is the smithy hammer? the tier dal one? the loc posted on eqtraders doesn't exist. it's a commons loc not third gate, and the only n'ryt person near it isn't a salesperson

You can buy the hammer in the Commons. Go to Neriak Down Under and enter the blind fish. Go down the stairs to the left and speak with Glazin. It goes for about 12pp

You need the Cultural Hammer in Third Gate, Not normal smithing hammer. You will also need adamite rings (3 sets), TierDal Chain pattern, silk swatch and 1 temper (2 essences + Neraik Nector).

Skill required is 175+ (180+ is better as the failure rate diminishes -- I had 2 in 6 on a suit at 184 skill).

Okay, i have the stuff from eq traders telling me when this stuff trivials.... my question is how much before then can i make it with 50-60% success chance? My guild has two divisions, most are level 45-51, then the lower group is 21-32. I'm in the lower but smith for the higher so they pay me ungodly amounts of cash and equipment (both the brewer and i) so we have all we need now to start making this stuff (enough for 5 suite of chest/leg/arm/shoulder/boot/wristx2) but what level can i have a decent chance?

I'm at 114 now and most normal banded stuff i can make with either a 90%, 80%, or 60% chance. I was going to wait till 130 to attempt this stuff... is that long enough?

Just curious.

The most widely accepted guidelines I have seen are that non-enchanted Teir'dal Chain may be attempted with a decent chance of success at about 175. Enchanted Chain should wait until at least a 200 skill is obtained, preferrably 220.

I made it with a skill level of 174 and it's a beautiful piece of armor, deep purple and red combination with other pieces. I'm selling it on the Rathe server for 20pp per ac.
