i was thinking about trying this quest is the lute worth the time?

Not really. The lute isn't bad but there is a similar lute that is vendor sold in katta C. It is sold at a shop in the north top of town near the Tenn. zone line. There are also other good bard songs there for mid lvls.

I just did the lute quest with my lvl 29 bard, i got the first 2 parts in SQ and the last 2 in FV, i turned in those and got the lute, well good luck

I too have been ripped off i did this with my level 3 bard gave all the bits in to the letter and he told me somthing about joffry being better suited to the task and kept MY items, Why I outta....
It might be because you haven't learned to play the lute yet you don't learn till like level 4 or 8 i forget which but that could be why save items and complete when you train at GM bard in stringed instrament

i used my druid to try to complete this quest.. and he wouldn't give me the lute when i gave him all 4 items... is there a reason for this?

Well, I just recently did this quest with my bard. Started a new bard in fact, anywho, all the pieces can be found within the Qeynos area.
The First 2 can be found in the city.
Fine Lute Tuners
Unfinished Lute Body
The next can be found in Surfall Glade, inside the house right next to druid tree.
The last can be found in West Karanas, at the second set of houses from QHills zone, inside the house closest house to the second guard tower.

Was able to do this quest in about 10 minutes with a 12 level bard. Hardest part was trying not to aggro anything while running from the book to the merchant in Firiona Vie (merchant was located at the exact coordinates provided in the quest detail). Overall price was about half of a standard Mandolin, and the percent increase to bardsongs is noticable, ecspecially with Hymn of Restoration. Well worth the effort.
