#REDACTED, Posted: Apr 27 2005 at 12:31 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Wow, there's something I wouldn't be advertising. When you go out on dates, do you tell her (*Cough* him?) all about your extensive EQ knowledge? I'm glad you're done responding to this thread, (it has been 2 years for hell sakes) I don't think I could stand to read anymore of your garbage.
Cosmetics?

I just had one drop off the Grimling Guard that is at the zone-in point in Acrylia Caverns. Why it is on this mob in AC I have no idea, but it does seem to me that it is mostly cosmetic. The weapon is infact a Lore Item, all the info here is correct as Magelo has a screen-shot of the item.

I'm not trying to be critical here - just FYI: Magelo's "screenshots" aren't actually screenshots. The background for the item info area certainly does look like a capture of the old UI style item box, but check it out: you can highlight the text - it's just plain text over the background image. Also, Magelo doesn't get its item information from players in the same way that Allakhazam does. Magelo relies on players running their MageloUpdate program to scan the memory area that EQ uses and transmit the raw item data back to Magelo, whereas Allakhazam's information basically comes from player submissions via email.
Also =-D how could Magelo get screenshots of the newer items with the old-school UI? If I remember correctly they completly phased out the old UI sometime between the PoP and LoY expansions.
Back in MY day, we couldn't even have more than one chat window, and we had to walk 10 miles through swamps and deserts, up-hill both ways just to get from Grobb (err... what's it called these days? Gukta? Death to all frogloks!) to East Commons! =-(

heh Yeah back when we braved Emperor Crush for his coveted Tunic. Also back when Gfay was known as Gbay and we actually took the ships and LIKED it..... well not really liked it but it was good tradeskilling time :P

Mkay, here's a brief rundown of a situation I was in, and my 2cp on these.

I was hanging out in my usual kiting spot in Tactics, left from the zonein. Was medding up and dropped a Diaku Scimitar on the ground. Within 2 minutes a Gladiator aggrod me, saying "You dare challenge me?" or some nonesense. Now this totally baffled me, since in the 20+ hours I've spent kiting in this spot, I have never seen a roamer. I had been sitting in the middle of the sand pit when the Gladiator aggrod me, and I have no clue where she came from.

Now... on to the weapons...

a) Pure Vendor Trash
b) Pure cosmetics to make the ogres look fancy
c) Damage-nerfing weapons (considering how crappy the dmg/dly is, and the fact they wield them, they would tend to do less damage than they would normally hand to hand, one would think)
d) Unknown quest (some kind of trigger, or was that just a fluke?)
e) Something to annoy players.

I highly doubt it's a tradeskill thing, since every single Diaku drops a weapon.
Kunark?

Re: "I would never had made such a dumbass mistake as to think my opinion meant something in the first 6 months of playing."

You made a BIGGER dumbass mistake in thinking your opinion means something NOW, when your mode of expression demonstrates that you are a jackass.

On a somewhat conciliatory note, the level 8 fellow is indeed wasting our time with a pointless post. PLEASE, people - why post if you have nothing of value to say?

Could you be more of a jerk, Nosferato?

I value opinions of level 6 people over idiotic know-it-alls who think their opinion matters more then others, especially when those who THINK they know it all are wrong like you are ya moron.

If you have been playing so long, you'd know that Allakhazam puts the "this item is used in a quest" tag on TONS of items with unknown uses. Most likely this is either vendor trash or just a prop to make your enemy appear to have a weapon. Besides the fact that Allakhazam is human and makes mistakes, this item may not even be LORE, no way to know tell for sure until we see a sceenshot.

Not all items with crummy stats for the zone they come fom are quest items. The fact that this is lore MIGHT indicate it's used in a quest, but not necessarily. I'd say the chances are slim to none this is a quest item. How many tradable weapons can you think of that are used in quests? How many quest items from tier 3 planes are tradable? I can't think of any off of the top of my head, so probably pretty few.

Lore items DO NOT equal quest items 100% of the time. You should bloody well know that since you claim to be playing since pre-Kunark. People like you who flame new comers **** me off to no end, veteran players don't own these boards. He asked a perfectly valid question and all you do is give a stupid flame that isn't even accurate, get a clue my friend. And stop being such an ***.
