Wow lots of ranting. FYI these are now going for less than 10k pp on Stromm Server. At lvl 56, my druid takes about 1-2 weeks of farming and adventure to get the pp needed to buy one.

If your referring to PoT as in PoTime then well you can have your own opinion. But heres a wake up. I am not nor do i have a character that has been ebayed at all and I am full time geared and i am not one of those 22 hours a day players, point in case after 4 years of playing i have a whopping 97 aa on my main toon. Its called putting in the time and effort. I just love people who've been playing 6 months to a year complaining about how hard the game is and how unfair sony is for putting all the good stuff in hard to get places. Back in the days there wasent bazaar, or item linking, hell even mapping wasent in place. We sat in Freeport tunnels shouting WTS Mino axe. And yes we camped mino axes for days, back then that was one of the best weapons to get. Now days its sold to vendors cause its considered garbage.
This game has been dumbed down to stupidity, new players have it easier then ever. Remeber mashing sense heading hotkey to get your skill up cause your compass went whirly? Probably not.

Yes they did give YOU as well as ALL of us LDoN. And guess what? There are people in my time geared guild that STILL wear the LDoN breastplates. They are one of the best in the game. Lets see.. 51 pts are yeilded for a nomarl level 65 LDoN adventure. So thats about 30 ldon adventures to save 1492 pts to buy an LDoN breastplate. The casual player can login once a day for a month, complete one successful adventure, and buy (without farming plat) an elemental quality breastplate that is upgradeable by 3 (yeup count em) 3 augments. As well as legs, boots, arms, bracers, and helm. All elemental quailty. That any average, casual player can get without buying plat, farming plat, or anything else. This also gets you a charm slot augment that yeilds a ton of stats, as well as cash loot from the named during the adventures. So instead of whining about the 'nerfed' exp and cash loot from ldon adventures, and complaining about drops from elemental planes, why dont you go do some ldons and get you elemental quality gear. kk drive thru

So either i have to join a good guild that gets me into elem planes and groups/raids that can get me the components, or fork over a fortune to someone who can/did, aka powergamers. I see traders in the bazaar that have 1-4 and upto 10 of these for sale for 80-100k each, if thats not powergamer at work, i dont know

Wish SOE would make components for this drop on all planes (wouldnt be very Xegony but hey).
At least make it so that every player that spends an eternity on raising his skill to this kind of lvl also is able to do something with that skill.
I so hate the way they di tradeskilling in EQ.
You HAVE to spend an eternity on skilling AND you HAVE to be a powergamer to get components dropped.

I call it powergamers, coz i've never seen a casual gamer reach PoT without ebay.
EQ was fun till Luclin, after that SOE focused on the powergamers and forgot the casual players. Dont give me 'They gave u LDoN', coz they nerfed the exp on that recently and its hardly profitable coz nameds are more rare than clerics.

This is not a rant just an observation =p

SO, if there are 10 for sale, buy one. Its not like 80k is that hard to get at level 65. Just go grind BoT a few days, win a few ornate molds, glyphed runes and such, and sell them.

Casual gamers, is that the term you use for those that only play eq to chat on? Really, if you just chatting then you don't have to use this kind of gear. If you are talking about those that log on maybe twice a week for 4 hour max sessions you are wrong.

i have seen 3 of these for sale over the last 4 years on SZ .
they are running 150-170k, i cab see several reasons why ,rarity and components .price was 90-110 b4 the bazaar ****'s came alon or what have you but this is worth every pp . if you cant afford i agree with others get the components ..alot of items people try an talk you down but i consider the difficulty in getting it or components an on a PvP server its double others because you cant camp anything with out the possibility of an interuption besides not every on can drive a *sp* merceadies

Just wondering if anyone knows what this looks like when equipped? does it have a neat graphic and a particle effect (like ceramic rod of storms) or does it look like a pouch (like dagger of dropping etc)?

Exactly. What the heck does this look like? I'd plunk down 65k if it had a particle effect.

Broke down and bought one. Got it for 50k which i think was a pretty decent price. Worth every penny imho, makes a big difference and am totally pleased with my purchase. Ok, as for the graphic, i equip it in primary and it looks like a doll thingie...same as the paw of opalla. was hoping for some neato particle effect alla ceramic rod of storms but it could be worse. Kind of reminds me of the old days...before all the expansions, when the level limit was 50 and the uber wis casters carried paw of opalla's in pri and that 9 wis shield from solusek (charred guardian?) in secondary. Oh and the melees were decked with a pair of yaks and an fbss. Oh those were the days :)

anyway to paraphrase - it looks exactly like the paw of opalla when equipped in primary. (doll like item)

Paid 90k for mine. (Tarew Marr)

Well worth it, especially with the elemental leather boots I paid 100k for a few days earlier.
RE: whee
# May 14 2003 at 6:15 AM Rating: Decent
How did you pay 100k for elemental boots when the patterns are nodrop for elemental armor and cannot be mqed? You sure you dont mean ornate boots?
RE: whee
# Jun 02 2003 at 9:17 AM Rating: Good
There is the possibility, albeit slight, that he paid a guild 100k to get him to the area where it drops, but that would mean he would have to be flagged and all that related stuff. More than likely I suspect that it was ornate, as I doubt many of the uber guilds would even be willing to help him with the elemental for a 100k. And if he was already flagged for the elemental planes, why not just go with yer guild to snag em for himself?

Some days I do wish I could just drop plat and get everything I want, like VT gear, elemental gear, etc. but I find it isn't the reward at the end that matters, it is having fun with yer friends and doing it with them that matters the most. I mean, gear and items are great, but they don't form memories or make ya blow pepsi out of your nose when yer guild leader realizes that the chocolate bar he was munching on was his pregnant wife's exlax bar and it hits him as you are pulling mob bosses and he is MA. The GL screaming his head off to hurry up and kill cause he is leaking, roflmao. Reasons like that are why I play EQ.

Actually, I would guess he is refering to the player crafted leather boots that are mde with components farmed from the elemental planes. Here are the elemental leather boots from the plane of water.

And most people will not see it for sale for a long time. There are 2 problems with these items.

1) The components are stupid rare.

2) The glazes needed for them are used in the quintessance of elements quest which while yet unsolved will probably lead to something important.

Oh and one more annoying thing, a ton of PoP pottery components are used in other quests items. Ever wonder why the Ceramic Shield of Valor is so expensive when its for sale? Because you need 2 metallic liquids for it. One for the imbue and one for the glaze. And since Metallic Liquid is used in other things, and sells for 4-5k, the price of the item is high.

Well keep in mind that if the components were not rare-ish, and were not a challenge to achieve then servers would become flooded with these items, making the items and the people who took the time to learn to make the items less valuable.
I agree that they are "stupid rare", but i think thats a good thing. You dont need spell haste 4 till after 60 anyways =)

Will buy this on MT server, send me a tell in game
#REDACTED, Posted: May 01 2003 at 7:32 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) This is a nice thing to put in secondary or range. But looking at what it takes to make it, I see it will be vastly overpriced, because of the components needed to make it.
#REDACTED, Posted: May 01 2003 at 1:05 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) If your a casual player, why would you need this? or should I say deserve it? With all the effort that goes into trade skills, both in gathering componits and raising skill, you know this was not made by a casual player. Now dont get me wrong i see sony really ******** around what is attainable for some lvls, but just cause you do play from item to time does not intitle you to all the cool stuff. I guess i am trying to say that there needs to be some reward for those of us who waste are life trying to gain one more lvl or find that last game piece for our quest..

Oh, I see. The thirteen bucks I pay each month to play an hour or two a day and maybe 4 or 5 a day on weekends, aren't as good as the thirteen bucks that someone pays that sits in front of their computer 22 hours a day playing this game?????????????????

Just because some people have no -or- very few responsibilities, and can play this game for hours and hours each day, and get their characters more uber than god, makes them *entitiled* to this and since I have a job, a family, and a life, I am not?

Maybe you should come down off your high horse and learn something about me, before you decide to be a judge, jury and executioner against me.

You think I don't know about tradeskills? On a mage that I have, all tradeskills except fletching and jewelcraft are between 190 and 195, except for brewing which is 221. (Oh, thats right...I only play a couple hours a week, my tradeskills don't matter.)

Your "reward" and your cool stuff, comes in the form of the nodrop items. You can get to where they are, and your are lucky enough to have a good roll, then you get the cool stuff. Until then, my thirteen bucks a month count just as much as yours.
RE: Ridiculous
# May 04 2003 at 6:12 PM Rating: Decent
One more advantage to you as a "casual" player... You have a job, and are able to buy plat online, if you are so inclined.
It may cost you more than the $13 bucks a month, but if an uber item is tradeable, and you decide it is worth it to you, you can be just as UBER as little Johnny who spends every waking moment living a virtual existence, then cries when he doesn't get the phat lewtz that he "deserves".

Kudo's to you for having a life outside of EQ.
RE: Ridiculous
# Jun 16 2003 at 8:56 PM Rating: Default
So I, as a casual player, should have to spend even more cash out of my pocket than "little Johnny" in order to get the same enjoyment from the game? Which, of course, I'm probably already doing, since the person who is playing 12 - 15 hours a day is probably playing on daddy's money anyway!

Congratulations Rez, you've managed to either completely miss, or entirely avoid, the point.

Jealous of "little Johnny"? Sure, I'm that. Haven't we all wished for a life where we could have anything we want simply by asking for it and not actually having to earn it?

Disgusted by someone who finds themselves in such an enviable position and who not only doesn't appreciate it, but looks down on those who aren't as fortunate? I'm that too.

Im not one to usually but into a rant, but I feel there is something to point out.

If the price that people are selling this item for is the issue, which it seems to be from your fist post, why not purchase the components and make it yourself after raising your pottery skill? As far as I know, all the items are droppable. I know if I made one that I would sell it for a crazy price, just because I could.

Just my 2 cp

You make a good point, about making one. Its probably the cheapest way to get items like this, if you can get the materials. However, on many servers, the materials never get to the bazaar for sale.

I do want to address the original poster's complaint though, about this being hard to get.

I think the main point is, you don't NEED this to play. Sure its a wonderful item, I'd love to have one, but I don't. The bottom line is, the components are rare, and there are not that many of these made. I currently have the Ceramic shield of valor, which I paid 10k for, and plan to keep until I finish my 8th shawl, and no longer need.

I'm not in an uberguild, don't have any PoP flags, and still find that I get great enjoyment out of playing, with what I loot, buy and make as gear. Eventually, I will get one of these. Might take a while to get the cash, but thats just another challenge, like questing an epic, or getting all of the 61 and up spells.

Its kind of funny, every time an awesome new item comes along, everyone complains that the "ubers" have an easier time getting it, and it should be available to everyone. However, when it finally does become common, and available to everyone, instead of being happy, people consider it junk, since everyone has one, and complain that the next upgrade is too tough to get. For example, thurg quest armor. It used to be people compained about the big guilds hogging the arena and plate cycle. Now, people won't even twink their alts in Thurg armor, except for the BP/Legs, and a few other select pieces.

Accept the fact that those with lvl 65 chars, in top guilds will have better gear. Such is life in EQ. In fact, its how the game is SUPPOSED to work. I'm not going to call them names because they have more time to play. Neither am I going to begrudge them their gear. Frankly, I enjoy playing the game for what I get to do, and the gear I CAN get. Someone has better? Good for them.
