Also DS potions from alchemy stack with casted DS, they use the formula level/2 +2 to calc how much damage the shield does, so its pretty easy to get the DS up into the 70-80 range.
used riposte disc two days ago (/discipline furious) in PoK the other day after using disarm to aggro a green water elemental. wouldn't let me hit it and i ended up having to zone. waste of a good disc =/
Mobs can be aggroed via disarm for humanoids, or AE taunt for non-humanoids. Once aggroed they take DS damage if they hit you. Given how many HPs the bazaar ward ***s had (I've pulled a few to the arena and killed them,) expect this to take a LOT of time to get. 30 point damage shields add up, but not nearly quick enough to make this worth getting (except to show off.) EDIT: Within the last several weeks the rule of 1 pt damage has been removed. Noticed that as I dsed a newbie friend and sent him in to the middle of one of the diseased rat camps in the misty thicket. He hit 2 of them, and got xp for 8-10 of them. DS damage is now assigned as your dammage, not unassigned damage. EDIT EDIT: Looks like they did make it back to DS damage not leaving a corpse/loot as of monday's patch. At time of posting my info was correct though.
They fixed dmg shields back the way they used to work. It's back to where if you do no damage to the mobs and dmg shields do all the damage, the mob corpse pops and no exp is gained.
all you need do is at least 1 point of damage yourself to get the corpse to stay instead of poofing. So i think should a guy stay alive long enough for the DS to kill the nexus mob, I think during that time he will have riposted at least once.
Warriors can AE taunt and it taunts them and engage attack. Warrior in our guild did it to a horse in the stables in bazaar and it hit him for 4200 lol.
I have one of these items. The answer... there was a patch long time ago where they did a zone update in the nexus. I think it had something to do with the spires in there.
After this particular patch, some people noticed the npcs in the Nexus could be now attacked. People were in there killing everything for a few days. Then another patch corrected the problem subsequently.
During this brief window of time, I picked up one of these staffs as a novelty item. I also have (or had) bad faction to those npcs, but they are of course locked now and no longer KoS.
