Small thoughts

Well concider the weapon has kind of a low hp mod. That what makes me look down on this weapon. The ratio is ok for the effort to kill the mob. And the mod is ok I think.

From what I read DS went up 4 damage. so if you have a better hp weapon and epic I advice you that.

But in all this is a nice pre-elemental weapon. A nice upgrade to the troubadour mace.
#REDACTED, Posted: Jul 30 2003 at 1:04 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) At first look you would say that this is definitely a Bard weapon. But in reality it is unlikely that a lot of bards will get one. The one element of this weapon that screams bard is the brass instrument modifier. Well as it turns out if your a bard in a guild that can kill the MoR you more than likely have your epic. The brass instrument modifier on epic is the same. Without the instrument modifier being a factor all of a sudden it becomes a ranger weapon (at least thats what the rangers think).
RE: Really a bard weapon?

The modifier on Marrow's Song is 2.0, compared with the epic's 1.8, so the modifier isn't quite the same. Moreover, the additional stats point more toward a bard (since high Cha reduces fizzles), but it's perfectly reasonable for a guild to reward this to another class, as the ratio is quite good.

SoE has lately pushed toward making items with instrument modifiers usable by more classes than just bards; look, for instance, at the Eye of Dreams, which has a 2.2 brass modifier but is ALL/ALL with stats that most people would find desirable.

I'm actually in favor of this, as it is a too-frequent occurance that I see class-specific loot rot because the classes in question present have the item (or better) already. It's understandable that there would be some dissatisfaction with Sony's decisions, though.

Really a bard weapon? Yes.

I agree that it's cool it's not bard only so if no bard need it someone can use it, but only in this case cause mod item are already really rare.

It's not only because it's a little better than epic but mainly because any high level bard is looking for some item with mod to bank there epic (because epic got a horrible ratio compared to the weapon we can find this days).

I stand corrected, the modifier on the Marrowsong is a bit higher than epic. I actually did get this finally (DKP system that cost me some serious points) and the brass modifier difference is quickly seen when twisting for Damage Shields. Using just an epic my DS is 58, using this weapon it is 62 (no amplify or puretone).

I have found that my max critical hit is 192 and max normal hit is around 140 with raid buffs pushing me to 285 strength. I assume it would be higher if I put more aa into Planar Power and got strength up to 305.

You used to be able to raid and get your epic when you were lvl 46+. Now you have to %^$#@ join afterlife or some high end guild to get your $#@!$#@! epic. I am totally pissed.

The new version of Hate actually makes it *much, much* easier for Rangers and Mages to get their epic pieces.

The minibosses that drop epic components for these two classes now have placeholders that repop roughly every 30 minutes. So now, instead of having to port an entire raid up there only to find out that there are no minibosses up, you can port up a single group (safely, I might add) and kill placeholders until the bosses spawn.

Also, thanks to mob placement and pathing changes, it's now *much* easier to pull singles (even a warrior can pull a mob up there with only one or two adds), which means that crowd-control isn't the absolute necessity that it once was.

The minibosses that drop the Ranger and Mage pieces spawn in "Tier 1" areas, which means that the mobs you'll be fighting are exactly the same difficulty as the old Hate, except without the huge risk of chain-aggro.

Also, because there is no 2nd floor anymore, there's no need for people to camp out if they happen to get Grav Fluxxed (I haven't seen a mob use this at all since the change, but I wouldn't rule it out as a possibility).

Even Warriors and Enchanters have a slightly easier time getting their epic drops now. To get the warrior epic piece you must clear 4-5 old-Hate mobs plus one new mob to reach the Hand (who seems to be up much more frequently, and who always drops the epic bit). The Essence of Vampire for Enchanters is still as rare as ever, but at least now you don't have to bring a raid to clear the zone, and the repop rate of 30mins means that there are a lot more opportunities to get the drop in a given amount of time.

People who complain about the update to this zone have clearly not done their research.

There has not been an inc to the drop rate of the SEoC. It used to drop off the mini bosses before and was alot more common in the old Hate. I have since been to Hate several time and have killed place holders and mini bosses over many hours and can't get the stone to drop. I have seem mage after mage and enchanter after enchanter get thier drops. I still sit here without mine. They need to increase the drop rate some on this so more of us rangers can see the end of our epic quest. This is my opinion and I stand by it.

Good news for enchanters.

Recent patch they stated the essence drop was raised.

what the hell are you talking about. hate is not that hard of a zone. and rangers arent the only ones who have to do PoH for an epic, piece. think about mages, PoH and PoSky. last night a my group in hate ranging from lvls 54 to 63 owned everything thrown at us. we arent an afterlife uber group, just a bunch of friends who were bored.

i will admit its getting pretty annoying going to hate to kill MagiP'Tasa for my wifes epic, and never seeing him. oh well, some day it will happen.

Not sure what you're greivance is about this item but as far as the ranger epic is concerned, items like this make hate a desirable raiding zone again. I've kept hearing rangers complain that people didnt raid hate anymore. Most rangers I've talked to lately are very happy with the zone change.

Actually the zone is easier now. Cept they upgraded inny and maestro, and from what ive been told epic items no longer drop off either of them, they moved them to easier mobs. So ask around or give them a chance before you go complaining.

Maestro of Rancor is now Red Con to lvl 65, the encounter has some spawned adds and other surprises. This is definatly an encounter for a 4 plus Group highlevel Raid. So dont think it will go to a level 50 soon. Its recommended lvl 60 anyways.
PoH exp

Actually the new Plane of Hate is very much one group exp'able and provides amazing exp, slightly better then the present PoV zone.
#REDACTED, Posted: Apr 18 2003 at 11:22 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Are you on stormhammer? The redone Hate is only on Stormhammer (Legends server). From other posts on other sites it was revamped to test Tier 3/4 guilds abilities. If true then I doubt it is 1 group doable.

The new plane of hate revamps hateplane into a zone more in the line of the Planes of Power zone

No longer targetted to level 50 raids, light blue to 65 at zone in, the area for level 46 to 55 ish. as you move deeper in, the creatures rise in level. Found good areas to hunt as level 65. Good hard content, crowd control is useful but not mandatory.

And there are raids/events in this zone aimed at raiding people. Tier 3/4 ? no. I'll leave that for you to explore or the zone to be released to the full population.

#REDACTED, Posted: Apr 20 2003 at 8:56 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) the only problem i see so far (and i play on SH )is that for peole that had epics that require drops from this zone now have to use PoP class dificulty to get get kunark class weapons which is a little unfair for those people compaired to some peoples epicstht dont require hate drops .
RE: PoH exp
# Jun 08 2003 at 5:00 AM Rating: Decent
Look around at the class boards. All the epic pieces have been located and acquired in new PoHate and none of them are PoP difficulty. They are all as difficult or easier than in the old version.
RE: PoH exp
# Apr 22 2003 at 6:55 AM Rating: Default
there will always be draw backs to any of the planes, especially the old ones. PoF is still one of the most feared to zone into and the mobs are green to 65's. at least with hate (unless you wiped on zone in) you can get to corpses easier.

anyway, if there wasnt a challenge where would the fun be?
RE: PoH exp
# Apr 19 2003 at 1:51 AM Rating: Decent
See if you can follow the logic here. If he states that exp is a little better then PoV he is not talking about the old light blue and green con to 61+ PoH.
Also tier 3 and 4 zones are 1 group doable for exp. Hell BoT/HoH both tier 3 both big exp zones.

Bastion of Thunder and Halls of Honor are both tier3 zones.

To get to them, you first have to get the flag for Valor/Storms (tier2), then either do the solo quest collecting souls to flag a group or kill Aerin`Dar for HoH, or do the medallion collecting quest for BoT.

Also, Halls of Honor is definitely soloable, and both of them are completely groupable.
RE: Not so.

The tiers the original poster is referring to is the 'tier' breakdown for Plane of Hate. There are 4 tiers of rising difficulty mobs, shown by name changes with the same model. They're split up by section of zone they are in where the tier one mobs are by zone in and tier four mobs are in the southwestern section of the city. Where the mobs in tier 3 and 4 give experiance that is comperable to HoH and BoT. This isn't to be confused with the PoP Progression Tiers.
Verant get's the picture...
# Apr 18 2003 at 2:20 PM Rating: Good
Okay, I like what Verant did here. I'm going to assume that the new Hate is going to be a place where only "big game" guilds are going be able to hunt. When this weapon drops, even though it is obviously geared towards bards, if there isn't a bard on the raid, or if the bard already has one, it can still be used (and will be... talk about nice offhand, even mainhand) by others on the raid. No more rotting bard only uber gear when there isn't a bard.
Bosses Raid only

Glad they made other melee classes able to use this; it makes quite an excellent offhand for an epic rogue, offhand for warrior (no aggro proc), monk, BL, Ranger either hand depending on epic.

Maestro and Inny now big guild raid only, perhaps alliance raids too, along the lines of maybe a PoP boss like Aerin'Dar. The rest of the zone is great for exp grps. Find a nice camp, and let your one or two grps pull at will. No aggro at zonein makes it doable. Rare random drops, armor drops you can turn in for gems and exp, very nice hunting. Necros with essence emerald are very useful in case of wipe (from experience lol).
RE: Bosses Raid only
# Jul 07 2003 at 7:13 AM Rating: Decent
Acutally, as a monk, I would gladly use this as my primary and a Stave of shielding as my offhand...

..until I can get my hands on a Blamm Stick from PoM.
(blam stick is 30/40 1hb no stat mods or procs)
(then then again, thats uberific for an offhand weapon for pure dmg).

Agree. Even though this is clearly geared for a bard, all the other classes listed will definately want a roll on this weapon. Ratio is nice. AC/STA/HP are nice, plus WIS/INT and mana to boot for us hybrid types. I can see this being a highly sought after item for the PvP folks in thier low 50's as well.

I like this item just beacause it does hold appeal for various classes and lets all the listed classes drool and fight for it. It might bring out the compition out in us all and allow new energy to flow into the bodies of vetern players.
