Which is better?
# Oct 24 2006 at 8:45 AM Rating: Decent
My bard is Level 22, and he just finished up all his Tranquilsong armor quests. I'm not sure, but I think https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?item=13845 is better than the lambent. Could someone let me know if I'm missing something?

Bards are most definitely an awesome class. So many abilities to draw upon and able to suit any groups needs and adapt to any demands and solo very well. The only drawback to being a bard i think is.....

I CANT TALK TO ANYONE WHILE PLAYING ONE

I am so busy twisting my songs, switching targets, anticipating my groups needs. I have no oppurtunity to even type in 'hehe' at some funny thing. Oh well, price ya pay for being a Rockstar.
BARDS ROCK

I personally think bards kickass. I like the idea of charming people. Only problem, you don't get Parry until 50 something, and your spells are like miniature poodles compared to other classes spells. However, that's just for one time effect, they get to keep their buffs on almost forever, and can constantly whack people with their songs. =P
RE: BARDS ROCK
# May 05 2003 at 12:05 PM Rating: Default
Only problem I find is that they take a bit extra attention as sitting half wasted and play is harder on a bard. With charming a chanter is easier in one way. Charm /pet attack and sit. While bard is more charm attack run around and recharm pretty soon again. But they are fun as they have most spells in game but in song version.

But what some morons seem to forget is that a majority of the songs STACK with spells for added effect. Bards are vital.
Lambent vs. Netherbian Chitin
# Dec 19 2002 at 2:35 PM Rating: Default
I decided to go for this breastplate even though I've been wearing Netherbian Chitin since about level 25. I hadn't even checked the stats on it. I just set out to do it. When I finally checked the stats I gagged a bit. It's really no better than what I've been wearing all along! Same AC and different stats. For all the trouble in comparison this should be much better. +1 Cha? What's with that? How about a little Dex? Well, I suppose each expansion has changed reality. At least I have the full set now.
Other Classes?
# Nov 05 2002 at 1:36 PM Rating: Decent
Can any other classes besides bards do these quests? I would love to get some of the items to sell and for my alt.

Yep, I did the lambent bp quest today with my monk. She only had indifferent faction, worked just fine. You need not be a bard to do these quests; just need to be one if you want to wear the rewards for completeing them.

Note that all pieces of lambent are lore, so sell or trandfer each piece to your alt before quested for that same piece again.

i dont see how when the lute you need for this quest (gypsy lute) is no drop
RE: Other Classes?
# May 18 2004 at 12:17 AM Rating: Decent
The pieces are no drop but the end result isn't. So you complete the quest with anyone and just hand the armor to the bard you wish to give it to.

pretty simple - just like buying them armor.

Seeing as Singin steel armor is a drop from a dragon...i'd have to go with no. there is no way to come by it easily.

Which dragon? Seems kinda odd that pieces drop off Frogs in Sebilis, but the breastplate drops off a Dragon.

Sure you're not thinking Skyshrine armour, which drops in the Tower of Veeshan's Halls of Testing?

all kunark BPs drop off trakanon, a dragon.

btw, it's temple of veeshan, not tower.

Bard Armor
# Apr 23 2002 at 1:34 PM Rating: Default
Hail, fellow bards and non bards. Lambent armor is a quest armor that is bard only, and can be worn by all races. A step up is Mithril or Ry'gorr, but i reccomend Lambent over the others because they give stats that only bards need. A step up from those is Singing Steel. Each of those has a right-click effect.

Singing Steel Armor is the next upgrade for bards.
RE: Bard Gear
# Jan 17 2002 at 5:23 PM Rating: Decent
Every melee/hybrid class has an armor that can be obtained around level 30.. Ro armor for paladins, ravenscale for rogues, lambent for bards, crafted for warriors, etc. etc. Aside from the crafted, they all have about the AC of fine plate armor, some resists, and possibly stats depending on the piece. And just like the level 30 attainable class-specific items, there are thoes high end items that are class specific. Most drop in karnor. 40-45 AC on the breastplate, ALL of them have right clickable effects, usually only the greaves and breastplate have stats on them, the rest are just high AC. I didn't know if anyone else knew that, just thought I'd throw that out there for everyone to see.
RE: Bard Gear
# Jun 14 2002 at 6:43 AM Rating: Decent
Not to break it off in your ***** but ONLY the Singing steel boots, gaunts, and Legs drop in KC, the legs being the hardest, which is still not that hard, drop off of Venril Sathir. Then the Bracer, Arms, Helm, and BP drop in Old Sebelis, and the BP being the hardest which comes from Trakanon. Named dragon. So I would recommend that if you are under 55 just buy your Singing steel BP since Trak is a hard dragon to beat. The only good thing is that a Bard can get into KC at 48 or so for the mana song. So save up Gents, SS armor is a little expensive, not as expensive as Cobalt, but still expensive.
Thanks

I hate to break it off on you too... but you are a bit off in your information. Venril Sathir in KC has the chance to drop any of the Right Click Legs. (i.e. Jaundiced Bone, Singing Steel, Mrylokar, etc). Trakanon has the chance to drop any of the BP's.

like it or not Crescent IS monk's Kunark Class armor, oddly Wu's is Antonican class, Steel Threaded Luclin Class, as well as the 4 varieties of Velious class armor.

I am a 27 Bard, and I have this as well as other Lambent peices nearing a full set. It is very nice armour, but I was just wondering what the next full suit upgrade of this would be for a bard. My bard Mainly focuses on the following stats (in order of importance for me) for melee armour:
-AC-Dex-Sta-Str-
For those of you comment on how I should have some Cha mixed in there, I have an entire set of armour based around charisma I wear when Siren Soloing, brings me to a nice 194 Cha total with my base charisma being 100. Well, thanks for any imput; if you would like to see any armour I have for either of the sets (Melee or Charisma)of armour e-mail me at NomadSpirits@yahoo.com. Thank you, and have a good day.

-P.S. I know my signature is inaccurate. I have level quite a bit of times since I last upgraded it, once again, thanks for any input.

Oh, and as for you Monk vs. Bard story, I would like you to read this, I got it from: http://www.eqdiva.com/songs.asp?song=30...
"I was in Lake of Ill Omen a while ago, I was lv 28 and had just gotten this song and Crisson's Pixie Strike, and a Monk, also lv 28, was offering to deul, saying that no one could beat him. I told him that bards are master deulers and he denied it, stating that his uber little monk could beat the snot out of me.... well, I had the Pixie Strike memmed, so I figured, what the heck... He challenged me, and right as I acepted I had a REALLY nasty idea... he was being a real jerk with his bragging, so I decided to take him out the HARD way lol. I mezzed him with pixie strike, WALKED UP TO HIM AND SAT DOWN! and memmed Solon's. I backed away and let the mez break and CHARMED him! On his name, [LD] showed up. That usually means he would be link dead, but I suppose it means he was successfully charmed. Anyways, we were by the wind mill in LOIO, and I targetted the Professor, told him to attack, and got out my drum and RAN LIKE MAD. He died, painfully I might add, and I escaped with the Professor REALLY mad at me. I zoned and all was right with the world. JERK, LOL! To make matters worse, he lost lots of XP for it too. ;o) Teach em to mess with us Bards! Keep singing!"

Actually the LD by his name probably meant he knew he was doomed and pulled the plug. He probably never knew what had happened when he came back and found his body.

The LD tag DOES SHOW when charmed it seems, also seen it when feared in the arena before. LD symbolizes loss of control, not always loss of connection. :)

And you should be ashamed of yourself. A duel is one thing but intentionally causing someone else xp loss is another. Even if he was a dorque.

RE: SUCK
# Feb 20 2003 at 11:03 AM Rating: Decent
Actually, he shouldn't be ashamed of himself, because, note the first 1 or 2 lines, HE DID NOT DO THIS. HE GOT THIS FROM ANOTHER WEB SITE. Monks aren't too fun anyway. I prefer a halfling rogue, a mage, a gnome wizzy, or a wood elf bard. Only problem with me being a bard is that I don't care for Shakespeare. At least you don't have to do any of his plays as a quest in EQ. "Muzakell, Muzakell, Wherefore art thou Muzakell?" "I'm here in the bushes, the balcony broke!" I know I got that really wrong. =P
RE: SUCK

I don't mean to invoke an argument about classes, but it seems you are the one swinging the glove. Bards DO NOt blow, no matter what you think. You must just be playing them incorrectly. If you want any advice on playing them I'd be glad to help, but I do not know as much as other experienced bards whom you may wish to contact. My e-mail is NomadSpirits@yahoo.com if you would like and advice on how to effectivly play a bard.

Amazingly, a merchant (Lyssa Loresinger) actually had one for sale, for 57pp. Wow! By the way, Vah Shir are listed as a race who can use this, in answer to the person who posted that question.
Vah Shir
# Oct 23 2001 at 2:17 AM Rating: Good
Anyone know if the Vah Shir (Luclin cat people) will be able to wear this?
RE: Vah Shir
# Oct 24 2001 at 10:47 AM Rating: Excellent
Ahem. Yes they will. According to the Luclin FAQ, Verant plant to make the Var Shir; "warriors, rogues, shamans, beastlords, and bards."

Whether they change this or not in future is to be determined but at the moment it's a tentative, yes, the Vah Shir will be able to wear it.

Lesell

#REDACTED, Posted: Oct 24 2001 at 9:34 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I do not beleive if the Vah Shir are able to become Bards... They are a larger type race...
RE: Vah Shir
# Nov 02 2001 at 3:26 AM Rating: Decent
Lambent is medium armor. Vah Shir, like barbarians, will be able to wear either large or medium armor, so yes, Vah Shir bards will be able to wear lambent.

And their size has absolutely nothing to do with whether or not they can be bards. Last time Verant said anything about it, they will be able to be beastlords, warriors, bards, and shamen.

I just finished the quest for this yesterday. After all that I wouldnt sell it for any less then 1k. On seventh hammer server lambent is pretty scarce (everyone and their grandmother wants a bard in lambent) I bought all the other pieces, and now after doing the quest want to go back and pay the person i bought it from extra money hehe. Quests are worth the armor, but not how much you can sell it for. Cost me 262pp on 2 rubies alone... then the labor of getting the other 2 no drop items =) be generous when buying lambent, the quests suck hehe.

This item is rare to attain because it is very difficult to get the gypsie lute without a good high level group. It took a level 42 druid and 55 monk to get it for my bard friend.

The Rarity on this is really really wrong. Every newbie bard I see on the Nameless has either Singing Steel or Lambent Armor. This stuff is as common as leather.
