For anyone doing this (likely on the TLPs for the focus effect), here's the quick rundown of how this quest unambiguously operates as of 6/2017:

1. Camp Sludge Dankmire in Runnyeye, he spawns at the bottom of the fountain/well near the goblin banker. I can confirm he is around a 4-5 hour spawn. Other sources say things like 28 minutes, which just is not true. I sat at the bottom of the well with a four hour breath potion for almost the full four hour duration of the potion, the pick zone that I was in had been up for six hours by the time Sludge spawned, so without knowing when he died I can say he spawns in no more than 6 hours (if he was killed immediately upon zone pop) and no less than 4 hours. Loot icon from him.

2. Camp Dwigus Lowater in Dagnor's Cauldron. I found him swimming in the northwest corner of the lake itself in DC, I do not know his spawn timer since he was up when I zoned in. At 50 he was a little bit of a fight (was never in risk of death), but make sure you have your lvl 44 nuke memmed and ready. Loot icon from him.

3. Get two platinum bars from a jewelcrafting vendor. Find an enchanter to enchant both of them.

4. Go to Temple of Sol Ro, give your two enchanted platinum bars to Genni on the second floor, she will return two galvanized platinum bars. (I stupidly gave my two enchanted platinum bars to Gavel and he ate both of them, so don't do that or you'll have to buy two more bars and get them enchanted again.)

5. Give the two icons and two galvanized platinum bars to Gavel in the central area on the first floor of the Temple of Sol Ro, he will return chestplate of the constant.

If you're wondering why you'd bother, on a TLP at lvl 50 all of your principal buffs are fully covered by the focus effect, except for AC buff, which is only 1 lvl above (so still gets most of the focus benefit.) Even if you get planar chest which is better to actually wear, it's worth keeping this BP around in classic era on a TLP to extend your buff durations.
worth it? Of Course

As a semi responsible twink, I was taking my 30th lev cleric to all the low lev dungeons (runneyeye, upperguk, befallen,etc..)and ran into a bunch of icons and ingots. Found out what they are for and went giddy. Now good ol Powah Uvgawd lives on a progression server so his armor came mostly from loot here and there and he never got around to going back for the newby armor. These are fun to get. You travel norrath to get it all. tough and expensive but worth more than the blackend alloy he was wearing before. Besides... I went farming giants to raise the loot to buy the plat bars. I don't intend to sell it and when i get better... Ill use it to keep me alive on corpse runs
Stacked enhancement

Can I wear this and a drakescale belt and get double extended enhancement(15% x 2)?
RE: Stacked enhancement
# Mar 01 2006 at 12:10 PM Rating: Default
no. focus effects of the same type do not stack... only the greatest one is considered, and if two are equal, still only one will have an effect
economy
# Nov 22 2004 at 4:20 PM Rating: Decent
Selling them at cost takes away from the whole market economy.
This game has no normal terms of a economy. A normal economy has set limits of currently to control inflation or recession. This game has no limits. There is no limit on the amount of plat a person has nor what gear he has. Or how many "items" he has. He could have ten of anything.. If I decide to sell something, "expensive" for a copper, its no more different that selling Park Place for $50 monopoly money. If you feel like the price has dropped below your acceptable rate, then wait a few months. It might creep back up. Or Sony might start another expansion and then that gear might just become scrap CR junk not even worth a copper.
RE: economy
# Nov 24 2005 at 4:17 PM Rating: Default
lore, no drop, 8 (*10 for containters) bank slots, 8(*10 for containers) inventory slots (20/6) shared bank slots, 22 equipment slots.

these are all limits on how many items a character has, true you can have upto 8 characters per account per server, but the number of accounts you can have is limited by RL finances, so there is a limit on how many items you have.

This is one of my most popular items on the PREXUS server. I decided long ago to sell them at-cost. Meaning, I do not mark UP the price at all. I only charge what it costs to create the item. I take zero profit and don't mind one bit. (I am still confused though why some folks think i'm doing some sort of scam when they read my /auction message)

The cost to create this item is 211pp with max CHA. The only money that is spent is on the 2 bars of platinum from a merchant. I have even let people bring me their own bars of platinum in exchange for the Chestplate. Due to the fact the final item is LORE I keep one actual Chestplate in the bank and then keep the Ingot and Icon in there as well. That way when a Cleric buys one, I can create a second one to sell right away if needed. This process helps out the young clerics who can't afford or are not willing to spend the average 400pp for the item.

In my opinion, it's a win-win situation. Selling these at-cost makes the item more attractive and helps to suit up new clerics or poor ones. It helps stimulate the economy. It rids Norrath of evil goblins. (although only temporary) It also increases the importance of Enchanters. Getting so many of these out into circulation at such a fair price reflects well on me as a business man too. Word of mouth is usually the best advertising. Most importantly, it just feels good to know you're helping others in some way! If you're on Prexus and would like one; use my email address.

IMO you are runing the market for these chestplates by selling them at cost. Some folks would like to go out and make a few plat by questing for these and reselling them. Selling them at cost takes away from the whole market economy.

This reminds of me discussions I've had in the bazaar with folks that sell potions (SoW potions specifically) at or very near cost. They are ruining the market for Alchemy and taking away a lot of the joy of playing a Shaman.

Sorry for the rant. But this is one of my pet peaves.
RE: 211pp is the cheapest.

I think people should be able to do whatever they want with their tradeskilling abilities, if someone wants to help out others, more power to them... and if you want to make more plat, then make something more complicated than this or sow potions.

Back when they first replaced rubicite with this stuff, this was considered a pretty sweet BP. Gotta remember that the era for this item is early EQ, pre-expansion. Back then, a lot of people were wearing mostly banded and bronze, with NO stats. A full set of this made you uber. Sure it doesn't compare well to the new gear, with each piece having several HUNDRED in +stats, but it was good stuff when they introduced it. When I upgraded my banded tunic to one of these, the last thing that would have bothered me is the lack of wis. After all, I had +10 wis from the pair of bracers.
Helpful info

I would like to add a few things to help out any clerics planning to do this quest. As I just completed it recently I have these comments to offer.

A) Dwigus is on a timer, apparently a very long timer. I went and killed mobs in DC at odd hours and killed everthing but the heros. For me he spawned on the island...but he may spawn anywhere. The timer is about 3 hours, since this is how long I was in the zone with a tracker before he spawned.

B) Wondering where to get galvanized platinum? So was I, unfortunately there wasn't much help for me here...there was some mention of an NPC named Genni that would convert enchanted bars of plat but she was said to be in North Freeport where you could buy the bars of plat. Perhaps the poster knew this not to be the case and forgot to make this clear in their post, Im not certain...but I did learn after asking someone in game and learned that Genni is in the Temple of Solusek Ro. She is an Erudite Enchantress and is located on the second floor at 438 x -67. The room she is in is a pass through area that looks like a library. Give her the bars of plat unstacked of course and for each bar of enchanted you get back a bar of galvanized.

I completed this quest nearly alone at level 53, just had a friend to help with tracking Dwigus who conned Lightblue to me. I know, the bp is almost obsolete by this level but I did it for the focus effect. Only paid about 200pp for the bars of platinum and since I have never seen this up for sale in Bazaar....I'm guessing I may be the only cleric on Stromm to have one, or at least one of a handful of those who do. Good luck to you, all who start this quest, it's not difficult....but it is time consuming.
#REDACTED, Posted: Nov 16 2003 at 1:41 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) why in Brell's name would they put a STA +8 onto a cleric only item? STA is sucha useless stat . . . sorry but unless yer a warrior or a Paladin an using a 2hander its USELESS!!!

Stamina is most certainly NOT a "useless stat". Your stamina determines your hit points and it's your hit points that keep you alive longer. It also affects how long you can hold your breath while swimming if you don't have an enduring breath item and your endurance. All classes benefit from more stamina, not only tanks.

what are you missing??? Maybe the increase in hitpoints? maybe the fact that you can use the hitpoints once you get agro from healing too much? the same reason wizards or chanters or any other class in game should try to max sta... more hitpoints. there is always a time more hitpoints will help. dont neglect them...

MQ?
# Apr 29 2003 at 11:16 PM Rating: Decent
The only question I have is if this is MQ'able? If not it's no biggie but my friend already has one of the pieces for the chestplate so I thought it may save a couple seconds if I don't have to go get it myself. It would be greatly appreciated for a reply =D

Im glad they are finally addressing the stats on some of the early quest armors, i wasnt gonna bother doing this piece but i think i will now. In my opinion the Sta was almost worth doing the quest for (compared to a Neth Chitin 20ac 2str 10vFire) but with the Extended Enhancement II on top this is a worthwhile quest again ))
Thanx Verant , you got something right this time )))
What Work???
# Sep 26 2002 at 10:16 PM Rating: Default

You kill 2 easy azz mobs, buy to bars of platinum, get a chanter to enchant them, take these items to temple of ro, get plat galvanized, hand them into dude, and you got the BP.

Work?
Thank you Veriant

About time they did something to make this piece of armor worth all the work to get it... wish it had this for the 20 levels I was wearing it. Good luck all that now get this.
#REDACTED, Posted: Jun 16 2002 at 8:50 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) This item is still not worth the work imo. If it had some wisdom then it would be.

With the new effect this makes your buffs last 15%longer which means you have more mana for heals and are using fewer gems. Level II items affect spells 44 and below so this is a viable piece of armor for quite awhile. It's not any harder to get than any other class specific chest piece (travel sucks though) and you can make up for any loss of wisdom you feel like your getting pretty easily. My dwarf cleric has worn this for 22 levels now(47) and his wisdom has been above 200 since 32 without any problems

This BP is part of the cleric quest armor in The Temple of Solusek Ro.

NPC's: Gavel the Temperant ((Bracers of the Reverent, Chestplate of the Constant, Shield of the Devout, Caduceus of Sacramentand))

Blaize the Radiant ((Boots of the Reliant, Gauntlets of the Ardent, Greaves of the Penitent, Vambraces of the Fervent))

Both NPCs are located in the same area. The armor looks VERY nice when you have the full set; but the only thing really worth while are the Bracers (AC +9 WIS +5) which you need to do the quest 2 times to get 2 bracers.

I completed this quest yesterday :) It's a great breastplate and I'm proud to wear it. I know... doesn't add wisdom etc... But clerics get punched a lot no matter how good a group may be so I'm glad to have the AC and stamina that this offers. It's worth doing the quest

We had a 29 cleric (me) a level 30 rogue, and a 39 druid. We went first to Dagnor's Cauldron. We didn't know where to look for Dwigus but he was on tracking so we had enduring breath, sow, and levitate and ran around killing all the tidal lords and bosuns for about 2 hours. Then suddenly there he was on tracking, all the way at the bottom of the lake. We pulled him out to the shore and killed him. He's pretty tough and almost killed the druid though. Then we went to Runnyeye and pulled Sludge out of the fountain and luckily someone had just been camping that area so we didn't get a swarm of goblins. After the platinum bar business, I went and got my BP :) Yay! A proud day for a young cleric
Another Alternative...
# Dec 30 2001 at 3:25 AM Rating: Decent
I have a cleric with every part of this armor, except the chest. I havent been able to track that annoying guy in Dagnor's down yet...

I was messing around on the moon, In the Nertherbian Lair, and picked up a Nertherbian Chitin.. it's 20 ac, 3 str, and 10 sv fire... and seems to drop every time off the swarm (leader?) So much eaiser then camping for the other one I may skip doing it.. (it looks sort of goldish on a HE with the luclin model on... not quite a match, but I'll take it)

*edit wow I need to update this sig... hehe

Happy Hunting!

RE: Another Alternative...
# May 21 2002 at 11:52 PM Rating: Decent
I had this for about 5 levels, it's pretty nice.
The stamina is nice for those few extra HPs, but for one drop in ac, with 19ac 7-9str (forgot which) and like 10svMagic you can get the rygorr BP. I like it for the STR. Prolly not the best idea for a cleric, but I did it because I am currently attempting to Solo at least til 50. lol clerics soloing...just doing it to prove people wrong. pretty sure it's been done before, but I wanna laugh at people who say it can't be done.
RE: Another Alternative...
# Mar 27 2002 at 11:01 AM Rating: Default
I have been considering this as well. The Netherbian has its advantages over the Chestplate of the Constant. In particular, the extra strength seems to be more useful to me than the plus 8 Sta. Why would I need stamina?

The only drawback is Netherbian looks pretty bland and the Chestplate is pretty sweet with the new graphics.

But I would say that if anyone is trying to do the quest - as opposed to farming it - Netherbian is the way to go since it is much easier and costs nothing.
i have a question

I think a pink with yellow polka dot item would be cool :) Besides the point though, the mob doesn't care what you look like when it's puttin a beat down on you..it's all about AC and hit points at this point...that's why this item is sweet.

Yes from what I have seen this BP is nice looking. and yes 20ac ad 8sta are nice stats. but I put together a full wisdom suit(including some low level items) and I have 203 wis with a DE cleric. with full buffs(self buffing) at lvl 39 I have 677ac and 1478hp. as a lvl 39 cler that is awesome. it has topped a lot of the tanks I group with(if I could do more melee damage would help melee, but I better server group byt medding and healing. I prefer to go with wis then ac and sta. as a reminder. if the cleric is taking a lot of damage. something is wrong with your group. I had awesome groups from 35-39. even after beeing trained, I have only taken about 900hp damage combined in those 4 lvls. because I was in a good group.
Check out the bracers, though

The bracers of the reverant are the real gems. Plus 5 wis each (non-lore). That's why they don't need to dump wisdom into this item.

Besides, the clerical armor only covers the visible pieces. For the other pieces, get things that give you good stats.
