I've found the Pristine Finger Bones on the various initiates standing on the front steps of the Luggald Temple, in Gunthak. This is the building people mean when they say "the castle".
The Luggald Temple is just beyond Gunthak Town. As you go across, keep bearing to your left, & you will see a rise in the ground. There are a couple of Broken Skull Seers/Augurs at the base of this rise, & as you go up, you will see trios of mushrooms, & a few of the various wild drogmur.
The mobs that drop the Pristine Finger Bones are Ogre, Dark Elf, Human, or Erudite Initiates. They stand in pairs on either side of the steps. They can be easily single pulled, & any pet caster can solo them at 50th or so, maybe earlier. They also occasionally drop gems & other vendor loot, & also the Tentacle Shurikens. Spawn time seems to be about 20 minutes or so. Finger Bones are dropped about every 10 mobs or so, something like that.

I'll add that there is alot of the "initiate" type mobs in the left side large room inside the castle. You can access this room from a little door off the hallway/rampart where you killed intiates on the steps. It took us 2 clears of all the initiates on track to get our 4 finger bones for the quest. We cleared a lot of other mobs in the area, we only saw the bones on the intiates.
