if you look around on magelo you will find there is like 100 different sets of GM armor, but all exactly the same stats and effect.

Gm items are all about effects, those wepons they weild wiht the blue orb have horribly dmg / dly raito, i got a GM to link me alot of his gear once, even though they not suppose to, that ring that looks like Dain frostreaves 10th, clicks invulerablity, the Celetal Scarab they use for back / shoulders cant' remeber which slot is 40 ac 100 SV all and has something on it that makes mobs Friendly to them, belt has Translocate on it, probly for porting people out that not supose to be there if guilds raceing for amob and GM gets involved, all has great effect, but for the most stats arn't that great

just a note...if by some miracle a player were to get a hold of one of these items, it is instant death for a non-gm/guide character if equipped.

#REDACTED, Posted: Mar 31 2003 at 11:58 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) Why would somebody equip these? They are only 10ac, just click from inventory ;-P

How and why
# Mar 29 2003 at 5:28 PM Rating: Good
I know someone that used to be a guide (family member), and this is how and why.

First, GM's and guides have a secret little place they can go to when they aren't actively helping someone (and no, you can't get there. You have to have special files and have a GM flagged character to get there). In this little place, there are NPCs that they can obtain their "tools" from. Even if by some act of satan you managed to get to these NPCs, the only way they will even talk to you is by having faction with them, and this faction cannot be obtained anywhere in game.

There are several tools a guide/GM has at their disposal.Almost every item a guide has will give them some sort of effect. They NEVER get to have spells or skills, they are NEVER allowed to kill something (asside from using a special "tool" that insta-kills with no corpse). I'm guessing they placed all of these super effects on items so that people using showeq and hacking the spell files wouldn't know they ever existed, and so they didn't have to modify the classes/races to allow for the abilities. Notice the gloves are all/all. There are actually around 20 sets, with different colors and such. Each armor piece does the same thing in each set, the colors are just for fun.

Just for kicks, these are the effects I know a guide gets... memory blur, regen, enduring breath, fireworks (why?), and invulnerability (short duration....again, why?). I am pretty sure there were several others, but I don't know them.

As for the AC...guides do sometimes need AC. I have seen (in game) a guide resetting an NPC that is out of place, and sometimes they get smacked a few times before managing to blur their target. Guides do have a normal set of HPs, as far as I know.

Fireworks why? Because they're fun!
And for invulnerability you answered your own question. If they have to move a mob, they do so by aggroing it so it follows, and they do so while invulnerable to worry not about dying.

They get uber speed travel...something like Wind of Norrath, Spirit of Norrath...somethin. Great visuals on it, anyways.
One tactic my friend would use, and I assume one of the callings for, is say a dragon in WW is bugged and pathing wrong or not at all. He would aggro to pull it away, and at that point in dire need of invulnerability. GMs characters are killable by mobs they aggro, however without initial aggro, they are indifferent to all despite cons.
Fireworks are just one of many things they can stock up on at CShome, that fabled land. They can aquire horse bridles, beer, whatever. They have a multitude of classes and race represenatives they carry many of the things players would need to be reimbursed for, classic leg-up kits, etc.

where'd they come from?
# Mar 29 2003 at 12:41 AM Rating: Default
Two things I wonder are WHO posted this and how did they get ahole of the gloves? Did they get a link from a GM and then snap a pic of the link? Also, what's the point of the 10 AC? Since when do GMs need any AC?? 10 is such a modest amount too. funny.

a 'link' to the item is floating around inside EQ

Kinda lame IMO to put your signiture on an item you didn't obtain, just saw a link to. But I guess it's fun to have your name seen by the 1000's of people who view this site, so more power to ya. :) Most people probably just wouldn't bother posting GM only items.
Just a theory =)

I am thinking they "might" be any player wearable, BUT, no exp is given back to the player rezzed. Just for someone in your party or guild to rez a cleric quickly to get back into the action or to start rezzing the fallen players. or rez a friend who has fallen far from his bind point and you not being any class that can rez.
Lol, would've been handy for the monk who was the only left alive on island 4 to qucikly rez the cleric to rez everyone else ).

I don't know, just a theory =)

Having gotten a GM rez before, the box said, <soandso> wishes to cast customer service ressurect(100%) do you wish to accept? As stated this is a GM item, so there is no way for anyone else to get a hold of em :-(
I'll take a pair! =)

Not sure why a GM would need gloves to resurrect someone. But since I'm not a GM *shrug*. Notice how it isn't No Rent *and* has no charges on it? I was originally thinking that if the GM's owed you a rez, they might give you these gloves to use at your discretion, but the non-no rent, and lack of charges, makes that a bit hard to believe as well

These are real, they are used to Rez people that were killed to to LD on the part of EQ. Example: On Cazic Thule there was a pickup raid on Vox...During the Raid itself the server crashed for 10 or so mins. of course when everyone logged back in everyone had died. /petitions were sent and a GM showed up and rezed everyone that had died inside Vox's chamber. They don't use that alot, the cause of death has to be from an error in the game itself and not due to player Negligance. Hope that Helps some.

Umm, I hope you're not serious but if you are then I'm stupid for responding. Here is a logical guess, the supervisers don't wanna give guide gms to much power over the game to do what they want so they assign them items to do customer service stuff.
no need for clerics
# Mar 28 2003 at 7:45 PM Rating: Default
If this was a real player item then there would be no need for a cleric epic other than for the status of owning one

Actually...
# Mar 28 2003 at 6:54 PM Rating: Default
Actually, this looks like a Guide/GM only item. I wouldn't get to excited about it.
#REDACTED, Posted: Mar 28 2003 at 7:39 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I would have to agree. "Customer Service Resurrect", sounds GM to me also. Too bad. Would have been nice item at the WAY upper levels.
