2006.Nov.11th. Finally got it.
I tried for the Claw about a month solid 3-5 hours most nights back in March. Then scattered days throughout summer. Another week solid 3-5 hours now in November. Probably killed the Assassin 30+ times altogether.

When you finally get the one with the dagger to spawn, it won't be the straight edge Luggald Claw image, the one I got has the jagged edge image, and he was holding the dagger in his right hand, and a Trident in the Left.
HE HITS HARD. (At least against a puny low HP Necro. . .)
I'm L67 2535HP 703AC, w/combat agility 1, was only self buffed at the time he finally popped.
He hit between 41 and 140 per contact, and hit twice as fast as my L67 Lost Soul pet. (And the L67 pet quad's a lot. . . this guy hits FAST.) The pet with 8k~ hp was taking the beating much better than me. I had to FD at 15% and let the pet take the beating and the pet (and my Dot's) finished him off.
He's MUCH harder to kill than the other Luggald Assassin's without the dagger. I don't remember seeing the words Backstab. . . but he must be a Rogue.
Landed Embracing Darkness, Splurt, Nightfire, Dark Nightmare. He must have approx 11-12k Hit Points total. (Pet got in a few blows near the fire I couldn't see in the logs.) I counted 10,664 from my dots and pet for certain.
LoL. . . he was stabbing me so fast my Dodge(nn) went up 6 ticks in a row.
Ahh well, I have it. I can use it for the Necro when she's gotta get "up close and personal".
Nice to have. . . it still drops. . . but you'd have to be insane to camp it considering the time involved. . . hope EQ is merciful to you, and it drops the first.

This isn't a bad little poker. I wouldn't mind carrying it in my purse for those rare occasions I get to melee.
Tonight I got to melee as my nukes weren't connecting. Weapon? A mod rod. That's just wrong. Wrong and embarassing.

Keep in mind that there are two such items. There is a junk drop that is not a weapon, and has no stats. Not the same ;-)
I've killed the enraged soulstealer DOZENS (not an exaggeration) of times and have never seen this drop. I seriously don't think it's part of his loot table.
I went in and cleared the room. The assassin spawned, I killed him, he dropped the dagger.
Guess I was lucky, for he spawned again later that night, and when I killed him; he did not drop the dagger. So even being a named spawn, he will not always drop the dagger.

Had a group in Dulak's last night. Killed the Assassin and he dropped the dagger. Killed the Soulstealer and he did not drop the dagger. This was on 11/13/03. The dagger is indeed on the assassin's loot table.

I own the Enraged Soulstealer killed him around maybe 200x (no kidding sold 135+ of Soulstrippers alot of cloak best spot for my tradeskill bills) he dont drop this dagger.

My level 49 Warrior son and I, a level 49 cleric, have been clearing this room since we found it. We are able to Pacify the room and pick them off one by one. During the week, we play for only about 2 hours a night, and see him at least once a night. The assasin is another story and has killed us more times then we have killed him. He has even killed guildies with us when we called for help when he spawned. We have killed him by ourselves as well. He has about 14K hit points so as a cleric I have given up attempting to nuke him. The system is pretty much....Warrior attack...Full Heal...repeat. Takes forever! Be careful of the adds that start repopping. Looking into the cave, the bump on the left near the back is the only safe place to pull.

hmmm, ive killed the assassin about 6-7 times now and have never seen this drop :(
And he is quite a pain in the azz, I solo that room all the time and hes only one i have any probs with. resists fear and Darkness prolly 30% of the time

A guildy just asked what it was or was for and im trying to look it up. But the graphic i see above doesnt match what i see on the EQ screen right now.

The Luggald Assassin spawned for me at the spot identified by the other poster. I had been clearing the room looking for Luggald Organs, and he popped at one of the regular spawn locations. I never saw him again, so he must be fairly rare.
He was dark blue to me at 59 and had a big aggro radius. He didn't resist darkness, fear, or any of my DoTs. My pet made fairly short work of him.

I can confirm this item drops of a Luggald Assassin, whom I saw while wandering around invis in the chamber down the first right in these luggald caves. The graphic of the knife looked like the picture there when weilded, which tipped me off to some fun loot heheh
A 57 Druid and me (57 Monk) took him out with some difficulty. Hit for double 140's... took all of the druids mana to keep me living. Sent a tell to the druid to come help and sure enough the druid won the roll, grats to his wizzy!
