6-7 Placeholders over a couple of sessions. Fortunately first time the named was up he had the soulstripper.

my roomate started a cleric and needed a better weapon than a centi warhammer so i grabbed my 75 cleric and wandered down to dulak to find the mob. the soulstealer was already up when i got there, basically i came, i saw, i kicked it's *** and now have a happy roomate. granted it's not the best friggin' weapon in the world for a cleric with only +15 to mana but the wisdom of +8 makes up for it imho and with a damage ratio of 15/23 it aint that bad for the time i put into finding and killing the mob which was about 12 minutes from start to finish. not a bad weapon at all :)

Soloed this today with crap gear on The Sleeper. 3048 mana, 1951 hp's, ac 876. Lvl 56 Shaman. Best piece of gear I have is KD bp. The rest is from Kunark era non raid gear and tae ew leggings. Buffed up with full resist and melee buffs on me and pet and took this guy down in under 1 min. Stackecd bane of Nife and plague, puma on me and pet, slowed him and then nuked with blast of venom and meleed his ****. Only scored 1 hit on me in melee for 141 and I resisted all spells. Ran at 20%. Rooted and then nuked 1 last time to finish him. Dropped the mace. Thank god, spring wood club was kinda embarrassing.

I couldn't get a group high enough to go all the way back in, and finally gave in and bought it in the baz for 2400pp. I'm a cleric and this with a heated blade aug N ro LDON (workin on an upgrade aug wich will make it even better), Yaulp V, a Dex and haste buff, I can do some serious damage. Still not a tank (lol) but I can keep my mana up, heal and do some mean damage and off tank (short time to save casters). Yes I'm a self delusional battle cleric, but I have fun and nobody dies that wouldn't have wiped from a bad pull anyway.
Yes the second it looks like a train or wipe I revert to classic sit on my ****/drog cleric to try and save the day. Sitting gives a little more mana than Yaulp V, which I cast to stand up/cast spells so I'm still getting mana if I have to stand and cast.
At time of post 56 cleric 4aa's

RE: ......

erm WTF?

This item is a shamans best friend. Shamans love every stat on this weapon; they canibalise regularly (hp=>mana) so require decent hp. The 4sta 30 hp is great for this. in addition Wis (and suprisingly also mana) grants mana for spells!

as already pointed out the best thing about this weapon is it has a decent proc to help repair canni damage.

sure its no epic, but its certainly not bad.

(although it could do with maybe 20 more mana and some resists :D)

A Shaman would very much like an item like this, with their own DEX buffs and that tap aug on it. This would become an almost planes level weapon, with the shammy off-tanking. 15/23 , as Alla's itself will tell you, is an Amazing ratio, and with dual lifetap procs (after you add the aug) any damage you end up taking will quickly be procced into oblivion, saving you mana. At the very least, you can back yourself up if your root kiting fails.

I payed 8k for mine. With max wis and dex, I used this all through the fourties and fifties. I added an augment from the BB camp that added a lifetap proc. With double lifetap proccing, this weapon made my cleric just as effective tanking as a paladin.
hehe

I was doing my shawl quest in EW, didn't even know this had a proc. I'ld nuke everything but the bunnies, so I clubbed them instead because of their hp. I actually critted for 150 and exceptionally healed myself for 300, gotta kick out of that, lil itty bitty wabbit didn't see it comming. Nice suprise for me, I play with the proc now. Funny thing about main hander agro, it's a lot more then you would think. I can actually take agro from my chanter quite easily after a mob is tashed and slowed. Concidering that I don't have double attack and duel weild. Chanter has SCS, so his agro is 20% less (I think) but it's still a big feat.

A 65 necro was wandering the tunnels last night while I was camping Stormwave and sent "/ooc Rotting at Soulstealer spot: Soulstripper." The Soulstealer spawned 3 times in a row for him, each time with the mace. I was the only one able to make it there in time so got to loot it. Thank you nice necro!

Very lucky...we camped the Soulstealer for hours, slaughtering everything in the area for fun while we waited (66 mage, 65 necro, 70 ranger, and little ole me, a 49 necro at the time....) and we never got the drop. Random really does mean random I guess...

# Nov 28 2003 at 9:46 PM Rating: Decent
my 25 shammy bought this weapon in the bazaar dirt cheap(dont ask how much, youll want to cry). I bought it thinking id save it till i leveled up to its recommended level. but being a new toy, I had to try it out, even though its under recommended damage is less than my centi warhammer, this item seems to do equal or even greater damage than the warhammer. it doesnt proc at my level of course. but its with its great damage/delay. its a great twink item

Well after around 6 hours of camping and mass killing of the PH he finaly spawned, and what was did he have in his hands while he was trying to kill my pet? You guessed it! That nice little mace of his. Well sure i could of spent all that time farming pp and then going and buying something better... But hey, wheres the fun in that!

So it seems the spawn was either nerfed a bit or everyone recently has been having realy bad luck.

Oh and i'll give it a bash on my alt and see if the required lvl if bugged.. But i'll do that in the morning.. sleep now=D Sweet dreams of me bashing things with my new macE!!

Any advice?

Did this get nerfed? I camped this for 14 hours the other day. killed 41 PH's. No names spawn. left and came back 2.5 hours later, killed PH and named spawned. killed him and he didn't drop Soulstripper. VERY VERY aggravating and annoying. Finally just went and bought one in the bazaar for 6k. Only thing good about this was the loot which actually made me about 2k. Will never, ever go back for that camp again.
RE: did SS get nerfed?

In Dulaks harbour, off of 39 hours of leveling (not consecutive), I ended up making close to 14k off of gem drops, money loots, selling weapons to vendors, and the stuff that ended up on my trader. And this was up top, on and around the boats. Once I headed down to the luggalds, I stopped seeing as many gem drops, so my funds dropped a little, but the luggald tridents and daggers still sell for quite a few pp if you stack them up.

I just finished this camp and would like to thank everyone for the great info. I was luck I got there buffed made a pet and killed the PH the roamer was Chester so no worries there. Killed 2 PH and on the 3rd pop I got my Soulstripper :)

I am a 59 Necro and my wife was playing a 55 Druid she just healed my pet. Had a really hard time getting roots to stick.

Like someone said it is a recommended level of 41. I put it on my 30 shammy to check the graphic and the damage was 11 wisdom was 6. Forget the rest of the stats but still pretty nice.

Yes the soulstripper is a lovely wep for a cleric as for a shaman and druid a dex of 101 does not matter this wep does a 75Hp lifetap and still could saveyourlife in a near death situation and has very nice wisdom and atk delay for those training skill
