I think he was referring to the mobs actual timer and loc, not the definition of either. And sorry, I don't know them as I was being a board troll looking to find some FT items for my wizzy I could reasonably obtain.
This is a nice item, although I'm not sure if I would sacrifice my current piece for less mana and FT 1. Still trying to balance mana pool with mana regen. Current item is iron amulet of unseen horrors which is 75m 10int. Int isn't a big deal anymore as I'm at 247 without kei. Feel free to post whether you think mana pool or regen is more important or if you think I'm smart for trying to balance the two. Atm I'm a casual player, raid sometimes apx 1 week, but mainly group, kei is around 95% of the time I play, and currently only have FT 1.
How often, during group or raid, do you have full mana? Having a larger mana pool just means that initially, you have more to play with. But as soon as you cast that first spell, you want as much FT (or Man Regen, as it's called now) kicking it. You want FT capped at 15, you want your meditate maxed with a modifyer, you want SL and KEI, you want it all, because no matter how large your mana pool may be, once you do cast that first spell, you're never likely to be at FM again until the raid wipes and you have a long downtime or the raid is over. I will take FT over +mana every single time.
Yeah, if yo uare dealing with Luclin era mobs with a bazillion hitpoints and the DPS output of a level 5 gnome paladin, then FT is the away to go. But from my experiences, and those of my wife (70 cleric) in GoD and OOW, Mana pool is more important than mana regen.. most of the fights are short, with a lot of mana thrown out in a very short time. CH's don't keep a 7k tank alive in MPG... it's all about the fast cast, large output spells. The fights are over quick, so it's all about how much mana you can dump, and how fast you can dump it. Sure, the regen helps in downtime, but mana pool is VERY important.
personally i would say regen over mana pool... WAY over... there are always times when i'm oom.. every time i play it happens, regen will help to counteract that. having a larger mana pool also helps, but only to a point. You still gotta regen that mana, wether it's 500 mana or 5000 mana, it regens the same speed, just takes longer to spend it all, but wehn you do spend it it takes longer to regen it back up. I know there's a shorter version of how to say that but I'm no english major :) basically, giving up mana for regen is worth it IMHO because what good is another 75 mana in your mana pool if it's empty? 2000 mana spent + 25mana/tick (as an example...) = 8 minutes (REAL time) add in FT1 and it comes out about 7 minutes 30 seconds..(the numbers vary though, depends on the character) as a soloing wizzie i have to kite basically, the limit of what melee-type mob i can kill is determined by mana pool size to a point. when a hill giant was yellow, it took more nukes than i had mana for to kill one, +mana gear would help with that, but with ldon, I've learned to spend mana more efficiently nowadays, and mana regen in an adv with constant pulls is everything. i would give up half my mana pool for FT5, because the regen would help more than the capacity would.. er.. lol i just wrote a book :) hopefully you see what I'm getting at cause i'm gonna quit typing, if i can't get the point across having said all that i probably won't ever get it across :)
I'm agreeing with eezer here. My guild's been doing Ikkinz recently and during the named fights, all the mana regen in the world won't save us when all the druids/clerics are blowing 50-60% of their mana pools on keeping the tank alive. The fights last under a minute and after that we've got all the time in the world to med, so to speak.
