Still alive and kicking

Still spawn's in the right front(bow) of the boat. Still drops this ring. Got it on my first pop.

I have spent a decent amount of time xp grinding on the boat and this is the first time I have seen him. So not entirely sure about his spawn rate but keep his place holder dead and he will pop for you.
Getting the Sea Worn Ring

Considering the level to attain on this item, I consider this one of the best items for someone who doesn't have a twinked finger slot(my 33 pally had two Jagged Bands). If you manage to get a group(highest in my group was only 38 IIRC ), the Captain Taladon will be an easy kill. All you have to do is lull or mez the two Erudite pirates who spawn next to him and have your MT pull him. He's not the most common spawn(his spawn point is at the front end of the boat with the aforementioned two Erudite pirates). He didn't take long to bring down with a full group and the enchanter taking care of any adds we got. Basically, as long as you have a full group averaging mid to high thirties with an enchanter you'll be just fine. He dropped the Sea Worn Ring both times we dropped him, and I won the roll on the first one.

Good luck in getting rid of that crappy old Jagged Band/Silver Ring/Copper Band(!!) :)
Location - approx mob lvl

This dropped off of Captain Taradon on the bad ship Dirulia, which is the second ship if having zoned in from gunthak you go around the harbour from the right.

The mob is around low 40's and max hit me for low 100's. As a 52nd Beastlord I had no difficulty in keeping most of the bottom deck clear of mobs (all bar one) before the respawns started.

[I believe that the captain has a chance of spawn at any one of the mobs spawn points.] I now believe this statement to be incorrect. I have killed the captain three times now and each time he has spawned in the same place being if you are at the front of the ship looking back there are three mobs between you and the mast (and its mobs) there is one very near you and two one the rocky area, the captain spawns on your left as you look to the back of the boat.

Each time he has dropped the sea worn ring.

Hope this is of some help.

Cheers

I can confirm the captain spawn point too, got sea worn ring off him today in that location, mob at front of boat on right as you are looking up there from mast. Only time I have seen the captain on this ship, he is fairly rare.

I can confirm the captain spawn point.

If your going to camp this ship, keep the boatscrubber outside the ship on dock clear as well. There is a named that pops there by the name of Vurag

Vurag spawns at any of the boat scrubber spots, i have seen him on the dock to the Dandolak and on the dock to the Dirulia, but keeping the boatscrubber cleared is still a good idea, seems he has less of a chance to spawn but still it's worth the chance, too bad he normally drops that crappy belt, but if you get really lucky he'll drop the haste tooth

Whereas it's worth the time to put into it, any sea captains appear to be pretty rare. Presumably there would be one Captain on each of the ships. We camped the Windscorn for several hours the other night without any named popping or anything dropping. Will probably try a different boat soon, but this is more likely an added bonus for a high-40s group willing to take the risk and fight on a boat for exp. Just a perk.

I got the captain to spawn on one of the higher level ships, forget which one though. What happened was he spawned along with 4 mobs i think. He was untargetable, so i assumed that I had to kill the guards first. As soon as i aggroed them, the guards and the captain all depopped, they were only up for about 2 minutes

Windscorn is broken, apparantly. If the Captain DOES spawn, it crshes the zone, and rolls back exp. Happened to a guildie last night, there were some not very happy campers =p

Anyone know if this has been fixed? Would be nice to know =)

I believe it has been fixed, saw him spawn the other night. He did give a message to the zone, but that's it. Only thing that happened after that were the people camping him yelling "train to zone!".

I can confirm this too!

He spams the zone asking for something - invasion plans or attack coordinates or something. He appears on the lower deck (and is untargettable) surrounded by 3 enraged sailors of some type... I presume he can only be fought once they die... After about 5 minutes he spams again, then despawns and crashes the zone... and yes, it rolled back MY exp... =(

PS - I got the ring we are posting about from the captain someone mentioned above. He was cake solo at 57. (with 71% haste)

Thanks.

RE: What drops this

I submitted the name, but they musta missed it.

Captain Taradon, spawns on one of the ships. Green to 63 easy solo, just invis onto deck and pull to a safe spot with ease.
