Stoicism notes
# Dec 23 2003 at 1:34 AM Rating: Decent
This spell can be MQ'd by another Shaman (I did it in Late November for another shaman friend of mine) .. first shaman finds the Flask
  • - then when both shaman can get together, group to make looting sooner.
  • - go into the water .. first shaman does turn in, both shaman kill the two elementals and second shaman loots
  • - second shaman does turn .. voila, second shaman has Stoicism.
  • - and it is an awesome spell .. it can be used in a fight to give hps to pet/tank and can cast another heal or dot while it is still healing .. not just during down time .. I used it up thru 63 where I finally got Torpor

  • - Oh, and if you get Enh Ext, it can go for more ticks. My Stoicism and Torpor go for 5 ticks right now (using Amulet of Insight) which makes it even more powerful.

Croakd is correct .. I didnt realize it at the time but it was my AA's that were extending the duration (and I have +50% ext now .. they DO last 6 ticks)
there are a couple of items (an Augment that is Ext Blessing IV that will also help extend it (works on spells 24 secs or longer)

I just have a question... I didn't buy yekesha because it isn't worth the money... is it still possible to get spell without yeskesha?

(he he, if it isn't looks like i will be getting it soon, lol)

You need to enter the zone, as all the spells are No Drop. So without LoY, no spell, sorry.

Unless he plays on the FV server... the spell isn't no drop there.

This is almost word for word the same post I put up in August on the qwest thread. Been there, done that.
Oh BTW, EE 3 (or any EE) will not affect this. EE will only work on spells that are 45 seconds duration or longer. Stoicism only lasts 24 seconds.

    Stoicism Nerf
    # Dec 22 2003 at 6:42 PM Rating: Decent
I attempted this quest on 21 Dec 03. Getting in place was easy as usual. The nerf comes in when you target a drunken pirate and run back to the little nitch behind the 2nd and 3rd cabin. Before, I could cast my slow from behind the cabin, and it would still take. Now though, it will not let you cast through the walls. Pulling them is no longer an easy task :( It seems I'll have to get a decent group together now, or wait until it is no longer needed.
    Still broken
    # Aug 10 2003 at 1:50 PM Rating: Decent
I have tried this quest twice in as many days (Aug 2003) and neither time did Flotsam and Jetsam spawn.
    RE: Still broken
    # Oct 11 2003 at 12:14 AM Rating: Decent
I just did this quest with my 46 Shaman (Oct. 10) and everything worked as mentioned by others. So I can say that it is not broken at this point in time.

I was able to solo the whole quest by using invis to find the Drunken Pirates, then pulling with a Slow, DoTing, then Nuke while attacking with my weapon. I got the elementals by pulling one at a time and letting my trusty pet do the grunt work while I sat back and hit them with a DoT, and then finished them with a Nuke at the end of the pet's onslaught.

    VERY nice spell to have!

This quest is relatively short. I managed to get the flask after killing 12 or so Drunken Pirates, with just a 45 Shaman , Theuderic (me) , and 45 monk Nabren on Bertoxx. Did hand in had 50's beastlord and necro help us with elementals though I know now we could have taken em on our own if we tried.
    Odd

I did this quest last night, took me a total of about 30 :), A buddy of mine told me a little secert about about how to do it. so i grabed c3 and ran to the zone. When i got to the zone i ran past the row of houses to right where the water start's. the the an open area right in the corner between a dock and the wall. i buffed my self up completly, i mean all stat buffs, flurry inc. med up to full ran in to first house, taged the drunk, ran out side, casted slow. When he came out i ran to the wall and waited for him to come up and hit me, when he did i root him right there, ran to the first dock, ramp, what ever it is. Doted him, DD until dead, he brock root a few times tho, when he did this i ran back to the wall and waited fir him to come back to me. did this same thing again on the secondary drunk, other than his EF friend, which i rooted and slowed. LUCKY me, the flask was on the second druck, so right as i grabed it EF rooted broken, i tho invis up and ran like a little girl. Tho the two spirit me and a 46 ranger took with eazzz.

This spell is awesome, great downtime heal. tho it does not seem to work on people that are not grouped with me.. not sure if that is the way it suppost to be.

    O and i did this at 45..
    Is this MQ'able?
    # Jun 25 2003 at 12:57 PM Rating: Decent
I looted the bottle while fighting in Dulak with my wizard and wondered if I can do the quest and then log my shammy to get the stuff to hand back for the spell. Not sure if turn in guy needs to be flagged or anything by initiating the spawns. Any info would be helpfull. I'll probably try it when I have time to preposition my toons and I will post back the result.
    RE: Is this MQ'able?
    # Aug 13 2003 at 4:04 AM Rating: Decent
This CAN be MQ'ed... but only by another shaman. See post under quest info for more details, but it's pretty easy to figure out.

    # Jul 01 2003 at 7:16 AM Rating: Decent
Just got done with quest and everything is no drop so cant MQ it. All is easy to do with a tracker. The druken priates are the toughest part. Turn in is a pinch.
    RE: Is this MQ'able?
    # Sep 10 2003 at 2:56 AM Rating: Decent
A shaman CAN MQ this quest .. i'm serious .. do the turn in and return in and kill Flotsam and Jetsam with the person who wants spell. Let them loot the pieces off F & J. Its really simple. I've sold the MQ 6 times now for 500p on Bertoxx server.
    Fixed & Easy
    # Mar 10 2003 at 4:04 AM Rating: Default
Did it last night [March 10] 57 shaman and 60 druid.

Tracked him from the lighthouse (druid friend), gave him the empty flask, gave him the rock back, spawned 2 elementals.

Max hit was for 70, and they have around 2khp. They're tiny elementals but aren't flagged as such. (Elemental / summoned nukes wont work)

Fairly easy, they didn't assist eachother.

Gave the parts back to elemental and voila, stoicism.
    it is fixed
    # Mar 07 2003 at 2:50 PM Rating: Excellent
ok all its fixed just completed the quest at 1:30 p.m. central time on march 7 ... and its easy , just hand in the flask then the rock and the two sprits that you have to kill spawn right behind you jetsam and flotsam... they will not agro on you I just slowed, root dot , told pet to attack jetsam and meded a bit , then when he dided slowed rooted dot and let pet attack the other looted the first looted the second. handed them in and done. Easy quest great spell. now all take care and sorry for the the grammer mistakes a little excited and I know this needed to be said that it was fixed

    Quest
    # Feb 28 2003 at 11:54 AM Rating: Excellent
NOTE: THIS QUEST IS CURRENTLY BROKEN
But the good news is you can do the first half of the quest while SoE gets it fixed.

    Sto i cism:
n 1. Indifference to pleasure or pain; impassiveness

There is a miniature water elemental named "An Impassive Sea Spirit". He is in Gunthak and is located under a flipped over sunken ship's hull at loc pos 695, neg 150. Enduring Breathe or an EB item is recommended. you say, 'Hail, an impassive sea spirit.' You say, 'I dare to learn.' An impassive sea spirit says, 'We will see... (blah blah) ...Bring me something empty that previously numbed feeling and therefore brought emptiness to it's possessor. You should not have to travel far.'

There are drunken pirates near the entrance into Dulak Harbor. They randonly drop Empty Flask. Race: SHM. It takes about 40-80 kills to find a flask. There are 4 drunk spawns on the first row of houses on your right when you zone in. The adjacent Boardwalk strip has 2 or 3 more. Also 2 or 3 more in the houses in the middle (across from the large WHITE tavern).

After handing in the flask, the spirit gives you A Clear Rock and asks "Are you ready to become as impassive as the sea". Respond by saying "I am as impassive as the sea". The text afterwards suggests that you need to kill small elements in the sea and return the essences to him. When you are ready for the challenge, simply give back the rock he just gave you.

This is where the quest is broken because nothing happens when you hand in the rock. He doesn't give it back. He says nothing. Nothing nearby spawns. Nothing comes up on track. This is where it is broken, it was confirmed by a GM that was watching one shaman do the Clear Rock hand-in. So no other shamans waist their Empty Flasks, the SoE has perma-killed the sea spirit. Hold onto your Empy Flask until you see him again, once he's back in the game, the quest should be fixed.

It is speculated that 2-3 elementals will trigger spawn and you have to get 2-3 drops (1 per elemental). Hand those into the Impassive Sea Spirit to get Spell: Stoicism.

Shavedman they must have made it a real close shave and taken your brain!! This spell is awesome.

Yes it reduces movement to almost zero, makes you hit like a wet bus ticket but it's the next best thing to a CH and a cheap mana hit. Die if you like - I'll take a stoi any day!

You just got this? Has the quest been fixed? As of last night, the quest mob was perma-killed. And I havent read on the Crucible about it being running correctly. If so great, if not, please let us know how you managed to get the spell, as I would LOVE this (regardless of what you think of it).

Basically this is a lower level version of Torpor and if you knew anything about the power and uses of the spell you wouldn't say it's crap. You would get amazingly fast mana back with this spell, just throw up your best regen, cannib enough health until you are about 640 HP down and then cast torpor and continue to cannib. You will come up with balance health and about 400+ NET mana in your pool. Not to mention it's a great friggin healing spell for inbetween fights or simply if your melee/caster needs an HoT and doesn't mind being stationay for 4 ticks (and -30% haste if it's a melee). Plus it's really nice because during the 4 ticks you can continue to heal so if your tank is getting really beat fast. So 160 healing per tick for 4 ticks plus superior healing. It doesn't seem like much but an additional 640HP over 4 ticks isn't something to balk about. It's also an effective way to duo with your puppy.

Shaman's crucible has a lot of inf0z on where to get the spell. Good luck to all shaman on crackign this one. Can't wait till I get this spell.

What is the addy to Shamans Crucible please
    info so far...
    # Feb 27 2003 at 2:50 PM Rating: Good
Quest starts from something like "an Impassive Water Spirit". Currently the quest is broken, and as of last night (2/27/03) the mob was no longer there.

So far, the information gathered is that you need "an empty flask" from a Drunken Pirate in Dulak, turn that in to the water spirit. After this point, the quest is broke, hopefully to be fixed soon.
