The Felwithe Batskull Bug
# Oct 11 2003 at 10:35 PM Rating: Decent

I am sorry to report that the famed Felwithe Batskull Bug has been fixed. Merchants no longer sell these lovely little earrings, and people once again must go back to camping them in WK and TD. By the way, for some reason, the drop rates on this earring has been decreased drastically. For example, at the West Karana camp there are three mobs who have a chance to drop this earring. The earring itself is fairly common, about one in ten chance from Goonda and one in twenty from either of his helper shammies. So there is a 20% chance that you will get a BS Earring from one round of killing all three mobs every time. This decent rate has been downgraded to about half as much, Goonda at about one in fifteen and the others at about one in thirty. A decrease to about 9% chance. Good luck... Drops go down, prices go up, economy goes *BANG*.

So i figured they found some bug or something. The post below stating there is a merchant selling... for probably 25pp or so... is probably the reason.

Odd they would put this on a merchants standard wares list.

So is same on brell, a merchant must be selling them.

This works on chanter pets as long as they are in the lvl range. (20 something I think). It gives message "your batskull earring begins to glow" and I still had the same amount of tiny daggers as before but now I had my pet too =)

As long as it takes a reagent, it will work I believe. However, just so you know, I have never noticed this working. I have a runed mirthril bracer (conservation 3) and it probably does work, but I was never off in my count of fish scales when I am raiding the Grey. So if it does do anything, it's pretty uncommon.

Well, I got two of these camping the Goonda camp and neither dropped off Goonda. One was off one of the Ogre Guards and the other off an Ogre Shaman. In fact, I have killed Goonda going on over 50 times now, and he's only dropped two things to my group(s): Chipped Bone Bracelet once and a Turtleshell Helm once. I have gotten every item dropped in this camp multiple times, but most of the stuff has a better chance of dropping off the Ogres surrounding Goonda.

All random, all luck.

Good luck!

If you're bound near a bank stick one of these in there for convenience during corpse runs. This way you won't have to run around trying to get components for enduring breath or levitate if they aren't convenient.

RE: Stack?
# Jun 19 2002 at 10:34 PM Rating: Decent
The levels of the focus effects don't stack, *and* having more than 1 of the same level (two mana/reagent conserve 2 items) of focus effect do not stack.

Mana Preservation II
# Jun 07 2002 at 10:37 AM Rating: Decent
2 posts
Is this effect cumulative? I mean would having 2 batskull earrings on give up to 20% mana reduction or would it still stay as just 10% total.. Anybody have information on this? Thanks!
RE: Mana Preservation II
# Jun 19 2002 at 6:08 PM Rating: Default
I think it would be safe to assume that if you had two batskull earrings on it would increase your chances of the affect "proc'ing". Two earrings = 2 chances for reagent to be conserved.
RE: Mana Preservation II
# Jun 20 2002 at 6:01 AM Rating: Good
The new focus items are not proc'd or triggered. They are permanently on, therefore there is no check to be made. If you have the focus item on then it will be used. Having more than one with the same focus effect of the same level will gain nothing because it is only going to use one. They do not stack so to speak. To try to be a little clearer if you have a Mana Preservation I item and a Mana Preservation II item. You will only receive the effect from the Mana Preserv. II item. You will not get a cumulative effect. Hope this helps.

<more thought>
I can see where you might get the idea that you have two chances for the reagent conversation if you had two items since the effect description says that it gives you a 15% chance to save the reagent. So now I'm now sure about the possibility of increasing your chances with the reagent effect.

Mana Preservation II is not cumlative. So if you have 2 batskull earrings, you only get 10% mana reduction, not 20%.

3: Restriction: Exclude spell 'Complete Healing'

RE: Effect

The effect on this item is NOT mana preservation I or II. In fact, this item has Reagent Conservation I on it, which decreases the chance of using a reagent by 15%, up to level 20. It says that summoning spells are excluded, however I have had a malachite reagent get missed in a pet summoning. Does this count as summoning? I think so, but that's just me, no one can presume to know the mind* of SoE. Good hunting and safe travels. ;-)

*Assuming SoE has one, among all it's collected corporate corpses.

I am a 40 Wizard on Quellious. Camped Goonda and killed him about 20 times, no earrings. Got bored so I started killing the Shaman and Priestess that spawn in the center near Goonda. Wow! Finally got Earring off Goonda. I continued this and then got my second Earring off an ogre priestess! I found anything that Goonda drops, so do the Shaman and Priestess and vice versa.

These are the drops I got - Batskull earring, Sheer bone mask, Chipped bone bracelet, Giant snakespine belt, Batfang headband, Chipped bone Collar, and a Turtleshell helm.

They drop something maybe one time for every other round of the trio.

I reccomened a group of 35 or someone that can root and a mage or wizzie. I guess if you can root and have a pet then you could solo him at 34. Im thinking necro might handle him.

In all fairness to the poster above, the level to attain deal is not exactly what you could call consistent. I have seen some that are way to low and other that are way to high. For some mobs it does seem to be the level that you can solo them at, for others it's group. Others just list the level of the mob that drops it.
