I decided I was going to get a bind in Freeport, strip down naked and run to Guk after this mask. I did just that. I asked for a guide to Lower Guk Dead Side, Using Rogue Invis I walked straight through Upper Guk...Heart Spiders did not see though my Rogue Invis. Once In Lower Guk I asked if the ***/sup room was camped they said yes...I was 3rd in line for the mask.
So I decided to figure out my way down to the spawn.
Easy enough....Rogue Invis again...I asked for Enduring Breath so i could swim underwater to get into the Bedroom...Then leaving the bedroom I followed the left wall till the towers. I passed the first ladder making a left and then dead ahead was the ladder leading to the ***/sup room.
I waited for 2 hours, the camp left, the Assassin spawned right after they left. I shouted out asking for someone to kill the spawn. Someone showed up so I got to loot for free.
I then asked for an Evac or a Translocate.
I am now walking around as a Dark Elf.
With Rogue Invis I walked around and waited totally untouched...so dont worry this is easy to get..just go do it.

Hide succesfully then hit sneak. if both are succesful, you are now invis to live and dead in guk.

Hey, Jerdite, I'm pretty sure you have to wear the mask in order for it to proc but that's just what I heard and I'm only lvl 20 anyway so what do I know =) Well, anyway, I was wondering if anyone on the Tunare server could help me get it by like letting me loot it and put me number one on the list or something. I'm getting sick of seeing all these lvl 5 bards and rogues wearing it but I'm at lvl 20 and I still can't get it. I was also wondering if anyone knew what the other Bard/Rogue masks were called. I know there is at least 2 more other then the mask of deception. I heard there was an Illusion Iksar and Illusion Erudite and some more masks like that but I don't know what they are called and were I could find them. Could someone tell me? Thanks =P

Well the mask is usable past lv 15,so its just a nice face slot item for a lv 5 ....
The other 2 masks are the Iksar Hide mask (illusion:Iksar) which drops of a Rare spawn in Trakanon's Tooth and the Mask of Obtenebration(Illusion:Erudite), which is obtained in Charisis (aka Howling Stones)
There is also a 3rd Mask called Mask of Tinkering (Illusion:Gnome) which drops in Sleepers Tomb, one ofthe hardest zone in EQ. So with lv 20 i guess, only the Mask of Deception is in zour Range, just sneak down there and wait for a group to kill the assasin, ask if you may loot it and Viola ! you have yer mask

Hello All,
While both Rogues and Bards enjoy the effect [more so the Human Bards & Rogues!] the +13Cha and +7 MR is down right impressive for a bard item - let alone a mask! A "Must Have" for any bard who plan on Charm-Kising or CC-ing for their group!

Go get a map and then /shout if anyone is camping it if they are then sneak/hide all the way down there but here is what u need. 1) Sneak/ hide MUST be on at least a skill of 85 or 86 because then nothing can see through it but the assassin himself. 2) Get someone to cast Dead man Float spell on you so u can stay under water longer because there is a part where u have to swim under and with sneak on its kinda hard to make it. 3) If you make it to the room DO NOT SIT DOWN, If you sit down when the mob pops it will aggro on you and if your low lvl you will be dead before they can save u.
Well thats what i did last night and now i have a mask. I waiting 2 hours in the room because the spawn is 29 minutes and he is random.......He spawned the 3rd time.

I know that it's not wearable by a lizard, but could the effect be triggered from an inventory slot? I believe that JBoots can be triggered from an inventory slot and thought maybe these might work the same. Illusion DE would be cool for a lizard.

Unfortunately, no you can't do that with this mask. From what I understand, you used to be able to with the old mask "Guise of the Deciever" but verant nerfed the drop, changed it to the Mask of Deception, which you actually need to equip. I've seen a few people with the Guise, tho. Ya know, a Dark Elf running around with a Fiery Avenger, that sorta thing. I've seen Dark Elf Monks. hehe I can only guess that Verant decided that the Guise was too powerful, or something, and instead of nerfing it, they just changed it's drop. As far as I know, the Guise doesn't drop anymore. =\

Forgot to mention, the DE illusion, it gives me Infravision! (or whatever DE's sight is) This is great for a human!!

I was getting tied of seeing lvl 15 rogues/bards looking like a DE, especially when I want to do evil quests! So I ventured into L Guk...as a 24th song bard
Later that night, and 5 rezzes later, its mine! I SHOULD have just gotten an Invis vs Undead and stayed like that, but the people camping the assassin room let me loot. Hey, FS weaps! and Shin greaces for lambent armor! But looting and bard song stops the IvU, so.... I should'a kept quiet.
Also, since I was there FOREVER it seemed, and the zone knew it, some great people worked me down to the EE room... scared the begeezus outa me, but they let me grab the 70% weight red pack! Whoo hoo!
Time to get some of that evil gear via questing!

I am a lvl 18 rogue on the Tunare server. If you are a high lvl character and would like to help me get the Mask of Deception, I would be most greatful. You see, I tryed to get it before but the dumb assasin never spawned. I ended up dieing down there in Lguk and I had to stop trying. I gave up on getting it and told myself I would get it at a higher lvl. But lately I've been seeing all the other rogues wearing it. I've also grouped with a few bards with it on. I've even seen some lvl 8 people wearing it. Now i'm jealous. I would really like someone to help me. Please, if your plaining on camping the Assasin and don't have anyone on the list or any bards/rogues waiting to get it, please send me a tell.

I got my mask last night (lvl 16 rogue). I walked in an out of LGuk and UGuK with no problems. The only time I got attacked was when the asassin popped. He hit me for 88 points, thre times real quick, but the two high levels there took care of him real fast. And, I only had to wait about an hour. Do not mess with the frogs and they won't mess with you. You do have to be careful of the Greater Minotaurs though. Sneak and Hide works fine. Remember, it is in the LIVE side of LGuk, not the undead side.

I think the mobs in LGuk (Undead) are See invisible, especially the Vampire Bats, because I put on H/S and they still hit me for 50-85, I was lvl 20, I made it out with 45 hit points left, but was I uncautious in taking the wrong route, or was I stupid enough to not read that I was as quiet as a cat stalking it's prey, and the hide thing saying you have successfully hidden yourself.
Are they non-see invisible or do some see and others not see? PLZ RESPOND!

Here's how it is:
Vampire bats: see through invis to undead being they ARE NOT UNDEAD
Assassin: sees through all forms of invis including sneak/hide
everything else: if they are undead, they'll see through normal invis, if alive, they'll see through undead invis... none of them (not even vampire bats) see through sneak and hide....
also, if you decide to sneak and hide near the assassin room, don't stay in there alone cause the assassin patrols the room and will find you. stay at the bottom of the ladder if you want to watch for the assassin to pop by using the first, third person view (pushing F9) so you can tell your high level friends he's there, most people are happy to help rogues get thier mask. Just be real friendly. I got my mask at level 3, but leveled up while waiting for my last res on my way out, so I left at level 4 :)

I've been waiting on the Quellious server at lvl 21 and have not had any luck with this ghoul assassin. Not only is it hard to get in first spot with a whole bunch of twinks with high-level friends camping it, but if i do get in first spot, I wonder if i can actually make it to the room without dying and in time to get the mask before the corpse rots.
Does anyone know why any itu's casted on me never last more than half a minute? and how far can I get with sneak/hide? What can see through sneak?

Saw 2 rogues in ill omen the other day they were both under me (25) and both had the mask. Jealous I decided to take a break from leveling and set off of Lower Guk. I bound in freeport striped down to my skinnys at the bank got some food and set off. Made it there now sweat (ps dont kill a frog creature until after you wanna fight in upper guk) I walked through most of it and got to Lguk, sneak/hide to the spot, it was camped and was the 1st in line. Got this baby in just 2hours total of game play. =) Did Die once one the way back but got a friends to REZ me. If you wann break go give it a try!

My group was coming from nek to first orc village when we were attacked by a DE at first we were trying to find the attacker thinking any illusionist would immediately show himself. But we realised a DE was attacking a group of trolls and DE! Since this was not possible I came to the conclusion that this was a twink using some ancient unheard of relic. I think that if this thing exists in pvp then they should either make masks for the dark races to wear against the other races or eradicate this abomination. Death to all lighties. Shut the f up! I'm lvl 45 and I still hunt there for experience as well as other drops off the assassin. You have no clue what the h*ll you're talking about and since the mask is no drop, I'ld rather a newbie ask me for it then to let it just decay. Go back to your own little corner and stay the f away from us who play to have fun and help each other out, rather than being a miser and short changing the little guy.

The problem with this mask ... if you're a level 15 ... well, you'll die in one spell to any of the undead down there. If you're sitting there saying "Someone come get me and clear the path or IvU me and kill the assassin for me" they're going to be like "Uh, no."
If you have your own IvU and don't mind sitting on your *** ... they'll pro'ly give you the mask. =)

I was Level 4 when I got this baby with my rogue. All ya gotta do is sneak/ hide all the way into there, then wait at the bottom of the ladder til someone kills the assassin, then get up there, loot the sucker, and get out. nothing can see you when your sneak/hiding except A.) players with see invisible spell/skill, and B.) the assassin himself. Since no one but rogues and bards ever want it, and most of the higher level people in there have at one time or another already gotten it, there is a huge chance that they will let you loot it from the corpse. I find it is a great stat enhancer, even before it procs at level 15. HAHAHAHAHAHA

i dont see why youre all getting angry at him. sure its unwise to to to the *** sup room unescorted but youre not gonna drown on your way to the br, its a 3 second swim, plus to whoever said to get a sow, you CANT sow in dungeons. And honestly, who gives a crap whether he says proc or trigger, big difference, its an effect isnt it?
