Not from regular trap mobs
# May 13 2018 at 10:55 AM Rating: Excellent
The marked trap mobs that spawn are not the ones you want. There are several mobs that are marked as Traps and they spawn a Shimmering Rockfiend or Boulderlings. Not boulder fiends or a stone beast. Those seem to spawn from in between the marked traps, further away from the large clusters of higher level mobs.
Most all do not see invis, so the best trick was to invis and run around each of those trap markings, spawn the appropriate mobs, and pull them out seperately. You still get some worms and undead, but with an AoE caster or melee like a berserker, those go away quick.

I can confirm this -- last night I was popping traps for this drop and the one mob that dropped it was a "Shimmering" mob. Boulderlings were dropping a lot of "shining granite pieces" (don't quote me on the exact name). Stay patient -- of the first 8 traps, 3 popped nothing, 3 popped Boulderlings, 2 popped Shimmering mobs. 8th trap was my lucky day.

took maybe half an hour of spawning traps-- not nearly as bad as the berserker 2.0 and trying to get a lightning core to drop-- now THAT is ridiculous

In the Grey, I was hunting for perfect acrylia ore on my beastlord with a guildie, who was a 70 ranger. Soon enough, we knew we could use a little help, so we got a HUGE raid party(two groups of guildies), and killed for a few hours.
Even after about three to four hours of hunting these incredibly frustrating rock mobs, no ore dropped. NO BLASTED ORE!! We were breezing through them, but the mobs never dropped a single perfect acrylia ore. Those of you who will soon be hunting for this ore: Make sure you're ready to lose your patience.
It will drop, but don't expect it to drop TOO quickly.

Getting this item has been a real pain. I've hunted hours now and haven't seen it yet, probably 5 hours now. Its real annoying, tiring and repetitive running up to every rock trying to get the correct mob to spawn. Its enough to drive you insane.

This is the type of thing that drives people away from a game.

No, this can not be MQ'd. As I am doing my bestlord's epic right now, this item is 1 of the 4 required in order to combine in a special box giving by an NPC associated with the bst epic in order to make a jagged claw of rendering.
rate sucks
# Feb 13 2005 at 1:53 AM Rating: Decent
drop rate on this item is stupidly rare and needs to be fixed after one day of 5 hours and now working on second day of 6 hours till nothing and have been hitting traps by scarlet zone line the whole time

...and sometimes luck only runs so far.

I came to The Grey for this ore for my epic with a 60 shammy and 65 SK, a few hours of free times and a few bottle of beers. Unfortunately the very first one we tried dropped the perfect ore. We ended up killing the extra time in Maiden Eye for the 2 gems (final ingredient of the epic) and never found any in 4 hours.

I was in The Grey for 3 hours last night trying to get the Perfect Acrylia Ore. I didn't think to start mapping out the stationary trap locations for the rock-type mobs until I was already an hour into it, so I know there are some locations that I missed. But most of the ones around the perimeter should be accurate. I did notice that some of the trap locations are much more consistent than others in spawning each time around, but I didn't mark those. I only marked when a rock-type mob popped, and not when a worm popped.

After seeing this post i decided to start mapping my own pops on the Prexus server. You can do this easily with the atlas tools on your map.

I tried this today. Kind of fun how it works, showing up the trap point for every spawn he put in there. Unforately, the trap points didn't work for me on Druzzil Ro. Which makes me believe that either they are random or they are different from server to server.

On the upside, these plots are quite nicely laid out and give a good direction to go when running this zone. I used it to run from point to point to pass the time and triggered quite a few inbetween points not on the map along the way. So this still can be handy to use for the general area of a nice circle to run that covers a large amount of the zone.

The traps takes a while to reset, so if someone else triggedered them a few minutes before you got there, you can pass over traps and not find a mob ;-)

This drop is a real pain...i went 2 boxing my boyfriends ranger and had a good friend of mine bring her bard to help after 5 hours of hunting it finally dropped...the best spot are the two trigger points just east of the ssra temple...if u sit on the hill u get no aggro just run around the rocks near it for the pops and walla u got yourself boulder boulderlings and stone beasts.

Hunting in The Grey today and helping out a friend. We were able to get spawns of A Stone Beast and Stonehand at:

p490, n1756
p265, n1490
p744, n1686
p867, n1520

Try those /loc's.
Boulder never popped. I am assuming Boulder and Stonehand are random pops on those traps. Hope this helps. Be well.

I got my ore from a Stone Beast. You must know that a trap can only spawn one kind of creatures.
Here is a location from a trap near to Scalet Desert entry: 280/-1466/5
Kill the Stone that pops out and camp on the stone formation until a Stone Beast re-spawns (~5 min).

I got one Perfect Acrylia Ore out of 3 Stone Beasts (that was maybe lucky).

Sorry, but that isnt true. All of the traps have a chance to spawn any of the types of rock mobs that are trap triggered.

I suggest invising and jumping from rockpile to rockpile so you get an idea of where the traps are, but beware that if you hunt for traps to the right of zone in from SD, there are see invis skellies laying around who can ruin your fun.

Once you have initially triggered the traps and know where they are, set your pet up and prepare for the fun. I strongly suggest waiting for a Stone Beast to pop from the trap, the ones that pop in groups (the smaller rock mobs, cant remember their names) will summon and cast, and just arent worth the effort in my opinion. Also be careful around the little white dustclouds you see moving in the sand as those are worms under and will pop out and attack as well. they also summon and cast on you and are very irritating. They also assist the rock mobs if they are too close when you attack.

Just to reiterate, if something other than a stone beast pops, you need only wait a few minutes and the mob/s will despawn, 5 minutes from then the trap is ready to be triggered again.

I got the drop after not too long of doing this technique, and also got my lucid shard (Vex Thall key quest) off the same mobs.

Good luck and happy hunting!

Use your pet to locate the traps where the rocks spawn out from. You will notice your pet react to a boulder when it's triggerable. When you see this..go up to it and pop..out will come a rock.

Not sure how many beasts knew this...but figured I'd let you know...since I just figured this method out a few days ago and so far it's working very nicely for me.

There are fixed spawn traps for the critters that dro this. You can get Boulderlings, Stone Beasts, Boulder Fiends, or Shimmering Rock Fiends, or one of the nameds. Just left and out a very short bit from The Mons zone is a bunch of rocks with a trap. Straight out from the same zone kind of in the middle of that area is another, and just past that to the left (all in clumps of rocks). A hard right from Mons and run over the first hill, there is a clump of rocks just left of the wall with an undead ruins behind, that is another. Lev, invis and run over these to make them trigger. Personally, I left the boulderlings alone, they summon, but the rest were fair game, I got 2 ore drops in ab out 3 hours.

Perfect Acrylia ore
# Jul 08 2003 at 9:35 PM Rating: Default
Found Perfect Acrylia ore in The Grey. Dropped off boulder fiend. Looks much like a rockfiend only a tad smaller. Lower level than most mobs in zone. Con light blue to 59 druid & dropped with a few dots. Pretty easy, snare, root & kill. Shame on me for looting B4 I found out what it was for. Sorry to the Beastie in zone that needed it after I looted & asked what it was for. *Weep*

According to the text given by the Weapons Master, he tells you that the rock comes off a rock type mob in a variety of areas. This concludes me to beleave that the rock can be found off any high level rock mob anywhere on Luclin. The rocks in ML drop it? Or just because others got theirs in the Grey, no one else has attempted to get them or look for them in other places? I would assume that since it is acrylia it would drop anywhere Acrylia drops. Hince the name (Acrylia Caverns). Just my guess though. Anyone ever found Perfect Acrylia anywhere else besides the Grey?

I have tried other zones rock mobs for this drop for many months as I leveled up. I have many days of camping ML and DSP while in search of this elusive item. It only took me LvL 55 Beastlord at the time and my lvl 52 Druid <2boxing> a week of days, and finally a guild group to get this here.

The hardest part is finding the traps as they move on ya, or appear to. Finally had a lvl 62<?> Druid with AA insta invis to pull traps<speeding the process up very much>. Thanks Rey, and M.O. <Cazic-Thule>.

Just got mine today and it also said perfect acrylia ore instead of the other. I was also worried but just put 2+2 together and saw it was a rather large chunk and decided to leave.

It dropped of one of the named guys, but had to camp here for about 7hours to get it. We killed several nameds and found quite a few trap triggers in the SE corner. I was with a 61mnk and 62druid (dual box) and myself a 56Beasty. Got some of the 1Hblunts here as well.

Ok just varified this by doing the combine, it is Perfect Acrylia Ore, which you need, there is no such things as a large chunk of P.A.O

Some confusion about this item
# Mar 28 2003 at 5:31 PM Rating: Decent

Just got a "perfect acrylia ore" off a stone beast. Stats are: lore item, magic item, no drop, wt. 5.00.

After asking around in game, I was told it is the epic item. However, all net sites, including this one, say "a large chunk of perfect acrylia ore" (lore, magic, no drop, wt. 1.00).

Has it changed? Is the net info wrong or are the people I talked to in game? The item I got isn't even listed on Allakhazam so I'm pretty confused about this. Don't want to end up having to come back later and camp beasts again :(
# Mar 26 2003 at 12:19 PM Rating: Decent
Did they say common? Yea right! Not only are the Stone Beasts NOT common... but neither are the Perfect Ores. Someone know something I don't?

Allakhazam uses certain defaults when they post in item. "Common" is the default Rarity until they get information saying otherwise. Clearly, this is very rare, but it's a newly posted item so give them a chance to update it a bit.
