I didn't make this item specifically but I did make a "charisma set" - two bracelets and a necklace that would raise charisma by +11. Tried to sell them as a set in EC, NRO and Oasis. You'd think with all the trolls and ogres that migrate up there from the swamps that I would have sold them easily. I never got one response - not even from someone trying to talk my price down. Bristlebane is screwed when it comes to crafts in my opinion. Too many twinks and too much plat flowing around for uber items.
My Bard, Syreen, (105 CHR) saw this piece on a merchant, priced at 240pp. Almost bought it, but figured a player would sell it cheaper. Think 120pp is entirely reasonable, though I'd rather pay 80pp.
Not ranting, bitching, or flaming here, just stating what I find to be the case as I am making jewelry and just made my 1st one of these yesterday on a whim, I didn't think I'd actually be able to do it. )
I find it to be a challenge looking at the prices and figuring out the value of most items nowadays. This one is a perfect example.
Last I clicked on the pricing data I saw it from 40pp to 150pp... Why that huge difference?
120-140pp actually sounds reasonable to me for an item with such great stats. But 40pp? 1. They bought it from a friend 2. They bought it from someone who was having a terrible time selling it. 3. The seller was twinked with it and got twinked with something better and took the first offer. Or 3. They posted that to try to bring the price down on this site.
It could also be possible that they bought it from a vendor though I can't see selling the piece to a vendor in the first place and I'm not sure what vendors sell it for.
My reasoning behind this is that while the silver is inexpensive, the enchanting is sometimes costly if you aren't an Enchanter, and the cheapest I've seen the gem in stores so far has been 70pp with my Cha buffed. So why would I sell an item that a Rogue and maybe a couple other characters would love to have for almost half of what I paid to make it? Not to mention all the failures involved in making jewelry. You could lose several stones (again around 70pp each) working on making one piece. Aye, I'm long winded today... )
So I am selling the ones that I make for no less than 50pp more than what I spent to make them. It seems fair especially when I can lose a couple hundred plat in jewelry failures a day at my sad little skill level. It goes up soooo sloooow...
Thanks for listening to the words of a nasty unshaven Necromancer. It's so easy when your evil... well, almost... Good Day friends
i bought it for 80pp. Need for my Ghoulbane as my DEX starts at 75. All I have DEX are 2 cutthroat insignia rings (+2DEXeach), and this veil. But let me tell you, ghoulbane procs more than usual. No AC stats, ok cuz my studded face mask only has 3 anyway. www.geocities.com/LaminiBraveknight
